J2 shippers, if you're looking for a new camera, look no further :DD

A couple of questions regarding Skyfall.

1. Skyfall's groundskeeper, Kincade, he doesn't speak with a Scottish accent so I presume he's not actually Scottish?

2. Is Silva a British citizen? His name and his accent indicates that he's not, but if he's not British, could he become a secret service agent under the British government?

Four months away. That's doable. But I'm totally dreading what I know is coming in season 3. Unless they totally change the story of course. NOT reading the spoilers *sits on hands*

I've been googling up everything Malukah ( and it's all [livejournal.com profile] xwacky's fault ). So haunting, her voice, and now I just can't get it out of my head. Listen to her singing a cover of Rains of Castamere and tell me that her voice is not beautiful. I just wish there's more of her songs out there!

And also, I found this! A GoT nod from The Simpsons, this is absolutely hilarious.

Watched The Walking Dead last night and time simply flew and before I knew it, the show was over when the credits rolled. It felt like only 15 minutes had passed, not 40, that's how good the show was. Don't you feel like that when you're watching a really good show?

The Amazing Race: Moscow - another fun episode. The funnest was when they had to do the synchronized swimming along with the Russia olympic team, the guys omg, esp the Nelson twins lookalikes ( or how I imagine the twins look like at the age of fifty, I haven't looked up their current pics as I want them to remain as they were in my head ). As good as the Bollywood dance during last season!

SPN 805: Blood Brothers - that was a good episode but then I don't expect anything less from Ben Edlund. Though it did feel like there were two stories, spinoffs!, going on - Sam's curtainfic and Dean hunting-with-other-people story. I'm warming up to Benny now. Didn't quite like him before because I wanted ( still do! ) him to be Castiel. Speaking of, I'm dreading the day Cas is killed off, for good this time. Not a spoiler, just me thinking the worst, so that I'd be prepared. Unlike that time when they chopped off Ned Stark's head which was a total shock. Not good for the system, that, not good at all.

Revenge - I'm dreading the end. I really do. But in a good way. And I went all fuzzy and squishy and melty-heart when Nolan said that Ems was his only friend and family. Awwwwwwwww ...

And also, Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy, MARTIN FREEMAN omg! That guy was so good that I didn't see any single hint of John Watson there. I can't wait for The Hobbit!

The Soul Piece by [livejournal.com profile] cloudyjenn. SPN, eventual Dean/Cas, currently at ~130000 words words, rating R, canon-compliant.
Summary: When a human child is born, their soul is shattered into bright gleaming pieces that scatter to the winds.

This is one *those*. The one that grip you tight and make you quite unable to concentrate on anything else, the one that make you feel that you're inside that story, living and breathing their lives. This is totally my head-canon now, the backstory to Cas and Dean's unique relationship, their profound bond, the story behind Mary's Angels are watching over you, the reason why Dean doesn't believe in angels and Sam does, Dean's resurrection from hell with nary a scar, that handprint, Jimmy Novak and his daughter Claire, oh I could go on and on and on!

While the whole story is still a WIP, the first two parts are complete on their own. Part One is from when Dean was a baby to Sam being born ( Sam's soul meeting Cas's grace and wee!Dean's reaction to that omg that was brilliant ) to that fateful night in November 1983 ( fluff and sweetness and angst in abundance ). Part Two is adult Dean, the time when Cas was ( seemingly ) absent from Dean's life to Cas's thrilling and dramatic rescue of Dean from hell and the sweet, sweet healing that took place after that. And Part Three is the events that took place in Lazarus Rising onwards.

Read it now if you hadn't already. It's awesome, it's brilliant, it's amazing.

Following the trail once more, Castiel flutters down in front of one box in particular. The child laying in it is similar to the others in the room, but Castiel instantly sees how this child will always be different to him. The soul piece in his arms shudders in proximity to its original master. To Castiel, it feels akin to the love he holds for his Father, but again, there is something different. Something he's never experienced before and therefore can't identify. But it is pleasant.

James Patrick Stuart was in Bones 8x05! It was good to see Dick Roman sans sharp teeth, and I thought it funny when Booth said he was a monster and he kept repeating I'm not a monster! Fun episode, love it when Brennan danced.

I like SPN 5x04 Bitten. But then I like Cloverfield and Blairwitch, so no surprise there. Sam ate salad again. But he probably does have his protein and carb I guess? To maintain all those muscles?

Survivor - it just occured to me that Malcolm looked a lot like Orlando Bloom. Hey [livejournal.com profile] claudia603, you're still in it ;P, with Orlando Bloom as your closest ally!

The Amazing Race: Turkey - that was a very pretty episode. Love it when the first clue said Welcome to Europe, now go back to Asia. Such a lovely country, I want to go there someday.

Saw James Bond Skyfall and I enjoyed it very much - much more than the previous Craig!Bond movies. Maybe it's because then I kept comparing Bond to Bourne ( Bourne won of course ) and this year there was only that Bourne Legacy to compare it to and this time, Bond won, big time.

Anyone here have seen George Clooney's The Men Who Stare At Goats? That was HILARIOUS. What I like most about it is how serious everyone was that you could almost forget that it was actually a comedy.
layne67: (revenge emily)
Still loving every minute of Revenge. Though there *have* been, maybe a couple of episodes earlier on, when I felt that S2 wasn't as good as S1, when Emily's revenge-y schemes changed from avenging her father to avenging her mother, and that felt to me like the writers not knowing how to continue with the David Clarke storyline. But all is good now!

*What* is it about Emily I wonder, that made four grown men and one woman eating out of her hands like that? She could ask any of them to do anything and they *would* do it. I might have hated her for using them the way she did if not for the fact that she has me wrapped around her little finger as well. I am so rooting for her and I'd be devastated if any of them were to betray her, especially Nolan. At one point, I thought fake!Amanda had turned against her but that was not so ( she's the one that I thought most likely to do so ).

Any thoughts?

Jennifer Jason Leigh totally creeped me out. I remember her from the movie Single White Female and I kept thinking of her as an older Hedy. Look out Victoria *inserts creepy slasher movie soundtrack* you're number one on her hit list!!

And also, Emily Thorne = Oliver Queen ( well, sort of ), with Victoria = Moira, Charlotte = Thea. While Revenge is all about the subtlety, Arrow is all bangbangbang. Oliver crosses out names from a list, Emily crosses out faces from a pic. Heheh, Oliver even has a big box to Emily's tiny one! Those two should totally compare notes!
layne67: (Default)
Anyone here watching CSI:NY? I thought 9x04 Unspoken was very cool. I didn't know about the episode beforehand so I was wondering why no one was talking. It turned out that there was no dialogue for the whole episode! Well, there was some at the end, but on the whole it was made up of songs ( Green Day's, which made my kid's day, he's such a fan ) - not a musical mind you, though I probably wouldn't mind seeing Mac and the gang singing and dancing through an episode, though I guess that has to be a dream-episode or something lol.

It was neatly done, Greenday's new songs that were featured in that episode were great, and everyone's acting was superb, all done through a myriad of body languages and facial expressions with some help from text messages and writings on the wall. Definitely a keeper, that episode.

I love it when my shows do "special" episodes ( there's probably a term for it? ), like the black-and-white Monster Movie episode from SPN, or when Sam and Dean were plunged into TV world in the brilliant Changing Channels ( that was one of my favourite episodes ever ), or when the Fringe folks were LSD'd and they appeared as animated characters, or when Olivia and the rest appeared as 1940s noir characters, that was a musical I think omg I LOVE that episode, having them singing was totally awesome.

Speaking of CSI, I got an email from a CS Team. A genuine email, not spam. Not the CS team though and not signed by Det Mac Taylor unfortunately. And speaking of Mac Taylor, I saw Forrest Gump again the other day and it tickled me that Gary Sinise's character was called Dan Taylor. I like to think that his name in CSI:NY is a shout-out to Second Lieutenant Dan Taylor. And also, Gary Sinise doesn't change all that much after all these years. Like Kristin Kreuk. Catherine Chandler looks exactly the same as Lana Lang and it has been, how many years? Ten?

On another note, heh, there's now a US version of Primeval? Caught the first few minutes of it this morning before I went to work and I was ridiculously pleased to see Andrew Le Potts as a guest star. Who would have thought that Connor ( and Abby of course ) would be the ones who survived until the end of the series? I have a soft spot for Connor, and googling him up, I was pleasantly suprised to find out that he and Abby have hooked up for real!

I miss those anomalies ... and the different haircuts the cast had with every new season.

A story that made me cry my heart out.

Mercy by [livejournal.com profile] bellatemple. SPN, gen, rating teen, 6000 words.

Summary: John takes care of Dean and Sam. Dean takes care of Sam and John. All Sam wants is something that he gets to take care of. A Winchester history, as told through pets.

This *has* to be canon. It has to.
layne67: (Default)
1. The Amazing Race, Survivor, Revenge, yup same old same old but wait. What do what we have here? It's Arrow! A testosterone-charged Revenge - he and Emily should compare notes - I was hooked from the get-go, and best of all, I managed to get hubby hooked as well! Not an easy thing to do when his staple TV is sports, sports and more sports. Anyway, I do hope that the second episode won't disappoint. And also, seeing Oliver Queen for the first time, that was exactly how I had hoped Dean would look like, coming out from his Purgatory. Yeah yeah, still a sore point with me, that.

2. Downton Abbey. Finally. Took them long enough *grumbles*

3. Bones, CSI:NY, Once Upon A Time. Anyone watching Bones here? Did anyone else think that FBI Special Agent Olivia Sparling was very much like Daisy? spoilers )

4. Merlin, Beauty And The Beast, Two And A Half Men.

5. Supernatural. Still very much my regular show even though it has fallen down the list. It's not so much me not being excited about it as much as me dreading each new episode, wondering what else the writers are going to put them through. I like episode 2 well enough, especially *those* scenes. spoilers )

6. Revolution. Not much excitement there anymore but I'm still watching. Anyone slashing Miles/Munroe already? :)

I'm also watching Fringe regularly but since I haven't catched up with the current season ( still somewhere in season 4 ), I'm not including that in my list, but if I were to do so, Fringe would certainly be there at Number One!

I'll be watching Walking Dead as well. My kid insists that I should. Though I've got a good mind not to, the way he's harrasing me to watch it lol.

And just to put it there, if these shows are airing right now, they'd ALL be at the #1 spot - Sherlock, Game of Thrones, Dallas and Suits.

I'm dropping Elementary btw. I'm afraid the second episode is a bit too slow for me. I'll probably pick it up again once Joan Watson shows real interest in Sherlock, platonic or otherwise.

What are you watching?

Want a really good laugh that is underlined by real angst with some fluff? Then read this.

Desolation In Greenish Eyes by [livejournal.com profile] sameuspegasus. SPN, Dean/Cas but gen ( as the author put it, no funny business on screen ), PG, 2085 words.

Summary: Cas vents his angst through poetry. Then so does everyone else.

Sam's POV, post purgatory. This is them writing about their feelings through poetry. Bad poetry. I laughed then I cried. For all of them.
layne67: (Default)
Elementary: I was curious on what Johnny Lee Miller's take on Sherlock would be like and I ended up being more intrigued by Lucy Liu's Watson instead. You can't help but compare Sherlock to the many, many Sherlocks before him, notably Benedict Cumberbatch's ( but of course! ), but Lucy Liu's female version of Watson is the first in a long line of illustrious John Watsons. I thought the pilot was rather boring and Sherlock's OTT manic is a bit too much for me but I'll give it another chance, just to see what Lucy Liu would/could do with her character.

Revolution: It's Kripke's so I just *had* to watch it. It was alright I guess. I'm not bouncing with excitement or anything but I like it well enough to continue watching. Miles, not Charlie, is very much Dean to me and it's good to see names associated with SPN from its good old days. Read more... )

Looper the movie: I went to see this mostly to watch Joseph Gordon-Levitt play the young Bruce Willis and kudos to him, he was good. He got all of Bruce Willis mannerisms and quirks and face expressions down pat! The most exciting part for me was when spoilers )

I'm now contemplating watching Arrow and The New Normal. Anyone here watching/planning to watch those two shows?
layne67: (Default)
I was reading this fic which had Cate Blanchett in it, this fic, if you're curious, and I had trouble picturing her in my mind because Olivia Dunham's face kept replacing hers. They look very, very similar they could be sisters. Anna Torv could easily play young Galadriel in The Hobbit!

Don't you agree? )

And also, watching J Lo's Q'Viva, I know now who it was that John Ross Ewing III reminded me. Mark Anthony! They should probably cast Mark Anthony as Sue Ellen's long lost younger brother as he'd be awesome as John Ross's uncle.

As for SPN 8x01, this is what I think is horribly wrong with it.

The Descendents - enjoyed that movie very, very much. Heh, and I was with the daughter when they first saw Brian Speer. The wife cheated on GEORGE CLOONEY with him???!!?? Lol I kept expecting him to call out for Scooby.

One thing that Matt King said in the movie that I can't keep out of my head - I gave enough money to my children for them to do something but not enough for them to do nothing.. Huh, very profound, that.

And [livejournal.com profile] munibunny, you live THERE??????

Saw Suits season 2 finale last night. Omg this show is soooo fantastically GOOD I just want to roll around in it. Excellent dialogues, wonderful acting, brilliant everything. Go watch it if you hadn't already!

Pity there're only 10 eps per season but season 3 will be in January so that's not too long to wait.

Still not slashing them. No, no, no. But it's close. Very close. Hmmmm, I wonder why I'm having a bit of a problem slashing them. Maybe because Harvey's in a position of authority with that mentor-protege thing going on. Or maybe it's because I just want Harvey for myself. Yes, I think that's it. Such a complicated, amazing character with so many sides to him. I just ADORE that man.

Tess looked a lot like Donna that I initially thought she was Donna. Pity about ... )

Gentlemen and Players by Joanne Harris. Set in a boys' grammar school with two time-frames and two narrators, which I didn't realize at first so there was some confusion in the beginning. And also, I was almost halfway through before I realized that I didn't know who the second narrator was. The last part kept me up last night and oh boy, what an ending that was.

Anyone else here has read this book? The first few chapters made me think of Enid Blyton's school series - Malory Towers and St Clare's and Whyteleafe - to see the same terms and phrases used in this book brought back fond memories of them but there the similarities end. This is a dark psychological thriller and when I said dark, I meant DARK!

Starting on Sally Beauman's Destiny. Few pages in and I'm already hooked, picturing Gabriel Macht as Edouard de Chavigny ::GLEE:: As for Helene, I'm not sure yet, maybe Gillian Anderson? Anna Torv?

I bought something online last week and I was checking their tracking site and it said at Skynet that the item had arrived and I was, like, No, it has NOT arrived when the delivery man came just at that moment with it. *Quite* freaky.

Saw Fringe 4x01 last night and it felt so wrong that ... )

Suits 2x05, 2x06. I'm not slashing them, no, no, no, I'm NOT. But Harvey bought the suit for Mike and he knew Mike's size and he must have done Mike's tie for him. The Harvey/Mike shippers must have had a field day lol.

As for Donna... )

And HARVEY. I'm more and more in love with him and I do so want to see him rumpled and without the slicked-back hair and the not-a-wrinkle-in-sight suit, so I googled him up and look at what I found.

Ooooooooooooooooh my )

*That* is how I want to see Harvey, at least once ( or thrice ). I don't care who got him to look that way - Donna or Jessica or Rachel, Mike!! - I just want to see him look like that!

Still haven't watched Downton Abbey yet. Must try to do that today now that I have the day off, except that I want to watch Fringe and Suits too! And Touch 1x13. And the Emmy awards. And there's Parade's End as well - Benedict Cumberbatch!! So many things to watch and not enough time to do it ...

Survivor:Phillipines is back yayyy!! I haven't seen it yet - [livejournal.com profile] shirebound, have you? - but I just found out that Lisa Whelchel is in it. The Lisa from The New Mickey Mouse Club of '77-'78 ( I think ) and the actress who played Blair from The Facts Of LIfe. Not that I'm much of a fan of her - Allison was my favourite mouseketeer -, but I did watch Facts of Life regularly, so it brings back lots of fond memories. I remember very well watching the Mickey Mouse Club on TV, waiting avidly for Allison especially!

Did you watch that show when you were a kid? Other than Lisa and Allison, I remember Kelly very well, and it seems that she went on to become a beauty queen? Though I guess nobody made it as big as Britney and Justin. I didn't watch the one with Britney and Justin though and I only just knew that Justin Timberlake used to be in the club when I was googling for Lisa and his pics kept turning up lol.

I've downloaded Downton Abbey 301 but haven't watched it yet. I'm so afraid that Mary and Matthew *still* won't get married. I wouldn't mind Mary getting back with Ser Jorah Sir Richard but Mary/Matthew is still my OTP!

Thoroughly enjoyed Fringe season 3 finale. I had some mild trepidation about it at first after the second last episode because I thought that Peter was thrown into the other universe. But Read more... )

I can't believe that the show will be ending soon? Seriously, season 5 will be the last season? Unless they screwed up S4 really, really badly, I want the show to go on forever!

Also, I watched Bourne Legacy a while back. I wouldn't have watched it at all if Jeremy Renner were replacing Matt Damon as Bourne lol. As it was, I couldn't help but compare Aaron to Bourne. On its own, I guess it was alright. I lovelovelove Ed Norton, and Rachel Weisz and Jeremy Renner were good. But compared to the original Bourne trilogy, it fell way, way, way short. Heh, I guess they couldn't make Aaron cut and dye Dr Marta's hair, eh, despite her desperately needing some sort of disguise because even with the glasses, she screamed I'm Dr Marta Shearing, apprehend me!

Matt Damon, I need you back as Jason Bourne!
layne67: (fringe olivia)
I should have known better than to watch 3 episodes of Fringe back to back last night. I had trouble sleeping after that! Lol there I was, tossing and turning in my bed, thinking of Olivia and Peter and the alternate universe and what-have-you. spoilers for mid-season 3 )

Seriously, maybe I should take a step back from the show as I think I'm getting way too invested in it. But maybe not, because I can't wait to find out how things will turn out. I'm bracing myself for the worst though. The Very Worst. Aargh!

Saturday night is my Happy Night because that's usually when I watch Suits, Dallas and Fringe one after the other. And last Saturday was especially happy-making because only three persons on my flist will have any idea what I'm talking about here )

Speaking of Dallas, I'm gradually warming up to John Ross now. Oh I know he's bad and all, totally his father's son, that boy, but ... I like! I want him to get Elana but if this Dallas were anything like the original series, the chances of that happening are pretty slim. But I'm annoyed with Christopher right now so you go, John Ross!

My night life is soooo exciting.
