Fic rec

The Doors of Time by [livejournal.com profile] felisblanco. J2 AU

I don't have enough words to express how incredible this story is. 65,000 words and I still don't have enough of it. It's so awesome that I suspect even 200K wouldn't be enough. I'm hooked, transfixed and riveted to my monitor screen - crying, laughing, smiling - and now I can't wait to read it all over again!

Summary : Jensen is a special child with special abilities. So special that no one's really comfortable with him, not even his family. He has no friends and he spends his days alone. Until Jared comes along that is. Jared, the only one who's able to get through to Jensen, but even Jared doesn't know the extent of Jensen's abilities, and to what terrible extent Jensen's family is capable of doing to keep Jensen safe.

It’s not like he doesn’t try to fit in and make friends, he really does. It just seems like nothing he does is good enough for them. If he smiles they blink. If he speaks they stare. And whenever they see him coming they get this panicked look in their eyes like they want to run away and they don’t even know why.
Jensen knows why. It’s the same thing that makes his dad worry and his mom cry. That makes Nana tell his parents he’s going to Hell, not even caring that he can hear her.
It’s what makes him ‘weird’.

Oh God, don't miss this.

I'm so hoping that the second part will start off with them being adults. That maybe Jared will find Jensen in an institution somewhere, doped out of his mind, or something like that.

And oh, isn't it so heartbreaking, an 18-yr-old with a 13-yr-old as his best friend, his only friend? And Jensen telling Jared that he's going to be magnificent during that last phone call *cries*

The whole thing hurts in that very best, wonderfultastic way. Oh, why can't all fanfic be this good!

I've just finished reading part 2, and I just want to let you know, Jensen in 'Doors' reminded me strongly of Borderlines!Casey :)

That's funny, I was kinda thinking about that myself! I remember feeling that my Casey was this special, magical being who needed to be taken care of in some ways...or at least, magical in Zeke's eyes.

There was something about the writing style too, the way it would dwell at length on internal states.

That really is my favourite type of fanfic character...that special, beautiful, magical but kinda difficult person.

The zoning-outs especially reminded me of your Casey, and Jensen's wariness of strangers. And Sandy made me think of that girl who wanted Zeke, and Jensen had a phone too, just the way Zeke gave Casey his phone to track him down!

Oh how I miss your writings! Would you be submitting your Sam/Dean to Big_bang?

Take heart, for I am writing! I have pages and pages of the story I'm working on, but all handwritten. I was thinking I would try to type the whole thing up before I started posting, but I could also type and post a little at a time. What do you think, which way should I go? I really struggle with the idea of posting fic only on LJ, because of the length limitations. I would rather post to a website and then just link to it.

All in one go. Posting it on LJ makes it easier for people to leave feedbacks, but posting it to a website is good, too, makes it easier for people who want to print and read. Do both!!
