Grrr

I got this email from a local DVD distributor that said they're currently taking orders for the LOTR trilogy Limited Edition at 20% discount. And I was just about to do the head-desk and facepalm things when I noticed that the price was actually almost double the price of the DVDs that I ordered from Amazon! That's taking into account that the Amazon price was inclusive of postage, for overseas delivery.

What a rip-off.

It's irritating isn't it! They do the same here mostly. Or they don't have them at all. *sigh*

And I honestly thought that they would be cheaper if I were to buy them at a local store. The reason I bought from Amazon was that I don't think they'd be selling them here. I guess the 'Limited' wording is just to get people to buy them fast. But anyway, I'm glad that I did buy online, because that was almost 40USD saved. Phew!

That's a great "buyer beware" example.

Yup, I noticed the 20% discount first. The other thing is that magic phrase 'Limited Edition'.

Another example is when they put up notices at the supermarket that certain things are limited to 2 ( or 3 ) per customer and you end up buying 2 ( or 3 ) when you actually only need one! :D

Thank goodness. That kind of thing often happens here too. :(

These people, they're making money like crazy. Grrr.

There's a store at the local mall that sells DVDs and music CDs and their prices are so much higher than Amazon's, even with postage added, it pays to buy from Amazon.

But unfortunately Amazon doesn't always ship dvds overseas. In fact I was very surprised when my order went through because usually I got the message 'We do not ship outside of the USA'.

Aw MAN. Suckage!! I got mine on Amazon, and it cost a wee bit more than WalMart prices. Not... SO bad, but...

Oh, but my Amazon-ordered DVD is cheaper, way cheaper than the one advertised by the local distributor and I thought it should be the other way around!

Wow- almost double! I was kind of shocked when I went to Best Buy to get mine and found a boxed set of all three for $71 while buying each one individually totalled up to just under $60. *shakes head*

Uh-huh. 108USD to Amazon's 68USD. Exorbitant! But uhm, my set is still cheaper than yours? ^-^
