My show is back!

It's almost 1 am here and I need to go to bed now but I must say something about 4:14 before I do that.

Yes, yes, yes! I'm so happy I could cry. The last three episodes were just so-so for me, and like I was saying to [livejournal.com profile] arabia764, I was going to watch this episode without any expectation whatsoever, and omg, maybe that's it? Don't expect too much and we would get it?

A couple of things that reminded me of my two other favourite episodes, the opening scene - Metamorphosis, and the reflection in the mirror - The Kids Are Alright. I shrieked out loud when I saw, wasn't expecting that at all!

And oh, Sam and Dean verbally hurting each other, shades of Skin and Asylum, yeah? They were good after that, but I guess this one is worse than the previous two :: HEART-BREAK ::

One big question. The siren came to Dean as a man, does that mean Dean is ... gay?

I think that it means that Sam is the only person he needs in his life - as the siren said, he wanted his brother, the brother he used to trust.

[identity profile] layne67.livejournal.com 2009-02-06 11:39 pm (UTC)(link)
Or maybe the siren knows that these two hunters would be on their guard against seductive women? I'm quite surprised Sam wasn't more wary of the doctor, even if she turned out to be innocent in the end.

Dean is a kind of butch, lol

[identity profile] layne67.livejournal.com 2009-02-06 11:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Hey, JASMINE!!!!!!!! I thought of you, hon, during the show.

ps Is there something you want to tell us? A secret life? ;P;P;P

Kidding!!

[identity profile] ckll.livejournal.com 2009-02-07 05:29 am (UTC)(link)
Remind me next time NOT to fgive them any Greek mythology book next time, hahahah

[identity profile] layne67.livejournal.com 2009-02-07 06:16 am (UTC)(link)
Jasmine, you should give MORE books on Greek mythology to them, and maybe one on Alexander and Hephaistion as well! ;D

[identity profile] ckll.livejournal.com 2009-02-07 06:30 am (UTC)(link)
Hahhahaha! The love of the boys in Ancient Greece!! Good idea :D

[identity profile] i-o-r-h-a-e-l.livejournal.com 2009-02-06 06:38 pm (UTC)(link)
And crd came to sam as a man, too. :D

[identity profile] layne67.livejournal.com 2009-02-06 11:47 pm (UTC)(link)
I need to watch it again ( and again ). I need to hear better what Bobby said about sirens. How I wish there're subtitles, sometimes it wasn't clear what they were saying!

Heheh, yep, Sam's second CRD is a man, and Dean's siren is also a man. I think the SPN people are trying to tell us something ( on Jared and Jensen maybe )... only they can't say it outright on national TV :D

[identity profile] i-o-r-h-a-e-l.livejournal.com 2009-02-07 03:01 am (UTC)(link)
They really don't have to. We know... :D

[identity profile] layne67.livejournal.com 2009-02-07 03:12 am (UTC)(link)
Ahahaha, they're not being subtle about it. At all!!

[identity profile] mews1945.livejournal.com 2009-02-06 06:46 pm (UTC)(link)
I agree, this was the best episode they've had lately. Lots of angst, but Sam and Dean were together.

[identity profile] layne67.livejournal.com 2009-02-07 12:11 am (UTC)(link)
This one was much better written and directed than the previous three episodes IMO. And I love seeing Bobby again, I miss him! That row of phones in his kitchen and him impersonating an FBI Assitant Director ( Skinner!!! ) while cooking - PRICELESS!!

[identity profile] evening-spirit.livejournal.com 2009-02-06 09:44 pm (UTC)(link)
does that mean Dean is ... gay?

LOL, that's what I was wondering all episode (because I was spoiled), but seriously, no, I don't think so. It's simply that he doesn't love anyone, and couldn't love anyone the way he loves his brother.

But the subtext here was neat. ;)

[identity profile] layne67.livejournal.com 2009-02-06 11:51 pm (UTC)(link)
I LOVE the many, many subtexts in the show. So many that it sometimes it makes you wonder whether they're actually canon! Like the siren. And Sam's CRD being a man.

Oohh, I'm so looking forward to the many, many codas that I hope would come out of this episode. Like when Nick actually kissed Dean instead of them just sharing a bottle!

[identity profile] arabia764.livejournal.com 2009-02-06 10:47 pm (UTC)(link)
but I guess this one is worse than the previous two

That's what I didn't like. I just can't see how SamandDean can come back from that.

:-(

That one was like a knife right through the heart. PAINFUL, but in a good way. I'd rather be heartbroken as long as I feel something, unlike the mediocre or plain bad episodes that just leave me feeling flat. Which is why I don't mind reading death-fics, I may cry at the end, but it's eliciting something out of me. What's the word to use ... emotive?

I laughed ( supernatural STD! ) and I squeed ( Bobby! ) and I huffed ( Ruby on the phone :( and I hurt ( Sam and Dean thrashing it out ) and I got super-creeped out ( seeing the siren's true form for the first time ) and I ooohed at Sam's awkward flirting with the doctor ( I almost felt like Sam's big sister there, watching that ). I was sitting on the edge of my seat instead of yawning me head off the way I did on Criss Angel.

[identity profile] willoweese.livejournal.com 2009-02-07 08:13 am (UTC)(link)
I really enjoyed this episode (well, as much as you can enjoy something that is tearing your heart in two) I definitely thought of Asylum while watching that final scene. The boys by the car, claiming that things are good between them, but this one is definitely far worse than it was back then. (although I did love the similarity in that they both knew exactly what they were saying to each other, and remembered it afterwards).

It hurts, and I dread to think of how they can come back from this...

[identity profile] layne67.livejournal.com 2009-02-07 09:33 am (UTC)(link)
I hate what the boys have become to each other, it hurts me no end to hear what Sam said to Dean. But as an episode per se, the writing, the dialogue, the acting, I think those were superb. I'd choose yesterday's episode over say, Criss Angel, anytime, or Family Remains.

Someone once asked me, which one would I prefer in a book/fanfic - good writing or good plot. The ideal thing is to have both, but if I have to choose between the two, one with a good plot but bad writing, while the other has good writing but not so much of a plot, I'd choose the latter anytime.

Family Remains, or Criss Angel even, have good premise, and there were no boys hurting each other in those two episodes, but to me the execution of the two episodes fell somewhat flat, I didn't feel anything in them.

Whereas in S&V, I don't like what's happening to them, but the episode itself was fantastic. Heh, am I making any sense?
