And it's like I'm re-living that other episode all over again. Can't really say that much more about this episode that hasn't been said elsewhere - from the keyboard mesh to the well-thought out, detailed reviews. But [livejournal.com profile] teand summed it all up pretty well here.

You know, I had been thinking that there's no possible way for them to make another 'Hell-House' or 'Tall Tales', not in this season anyway, what with Dean's soul hanging in the balance. But they did it pretty well here. Black comedy yes, but still - Dean and the bra, and the spiked-up hair full of suds, and the piano falling on top of Dean omg it felt so wrong to laugh there.

And the two of them talking at the same time? God, I can't wait to watch the DVD extras for season 3. They had a hard time closing the Impala door simultaneously - I wonder how many takes they had to do for that scene.

And Sam ordering Dean to "Eat your breakfast". My heart stopped for a minute I swear it did. Along with the TINGLING of course.

But laughing and tinglings aside, this episode seriously, seriously breaks my heart. Because Sam without his Dean? Is too, too PAINFUL to contemplate. Btw, am I the only one who's disappointed that there was no scruffy Sam after Dean died that last time? Scruffy, unshaven Sam, with his face all expressionless and DEAD *flaaails* And oh, wouldn't it be awesome if Cujo there had been Sadie or Harley? Or was the thought of one of his dogs attacking Jensen unacceptable to Jared? :-0

God I LOVE this frikking show. And Kripke kept surpassing himself in the last three episodes - the Witches and the Dreams and now this.

Oh please, please let there be a season 4. Go here to sign the petition for another season of the Winchesters.

OH BOYS!!!

Poor Bobby, they're always shunning him.

Ok, so that's only twice, and once wasn't even Bobby, but still...

Blood is thicker than water and all that jazz? But then, they did helped him out, and more, in last week's episode.

I just wish I know exactly why the trickster did what he did.

LOL the trickster missed them?

Wouldn't you?

But no, really, the trickster's not into torture the way demons are. The way he goes for people with big egos suggests he's got at least some interest in human dealings. The trickster doesn't want demons to rule the earth because they'd probably enslave the human race and slaves don't have any big egos to burst. And have you tried playing a prank on a powerful demon? Those guys have no sense of humour.

Plus, he's an awesome guy and totally likes the Winchesters.

I LOVE the idea of the trickster ( God, it's so hard to spell that word ) helping the boys. I wonder what his ranking is in the world of the supernatural. I mean, there are so many of them I'm confused - the YED, RED and BED - could and would he help Dean? Or was he just helping Sam deal with the inevitable? I need to watch that again tonight.

It keeps getting better and better. I just hope that they won't botched up the upcoming new episodes, which hopefully we'll get to see in April!

Btw, am I the only one who's disappointed that there was no scruffy Sam after Dean died that last time?

I think the way they did it was perfect. It was so heart-breaking to see Sam turn into this ice-cold disciplined machine. You get the feeling that this was the only way he had of keeping himself from falling apart. He turned into his father -- but even worse, because he didn't have anything or anyone in his life except hunting and tracking down the Trickster, all the while knowing that his brother's in Hell. What a horror. What a sucker-punch to the guts! Definitely one of the most gripping episodes of this show, period.

The Trickster's a loose canon -- he's a god in his own right and he doesn't serve anyone except himself, good or evil. I can't imagine that free agent spirits like this would have it too good under a New Demonic World Order. They thrive on the random and the ironic, not malice and control.

So I guess there really *could* be an outside chance that the trickster would be the one helping Sam save Dean, though I can't really *see* him as their saviour. I mean, their brushes with him were always somewhat -- comedic, and I want the finale for this season to be anything but. But I guess the Trickster could shed that funnyman veneer and be all dark and menacing. Hmmm, that'd be interesting.

And the other great thing about this episode is that there's no Bela or Ruby!!

Don't you just love how Dean's ear is just smushed right up against Sam's eye right there? And am I the only one that was wishing Sam would just turn his head just a little bit and brush his lips right there?

Hmm, I don't think the Trickster's going to help with the Deal because as you said, there's always a comedic side to his appearances (even though the last half of this week's episode was anything BUT comedic). But we're definitely going to see more of him. I've never thought about it before but the free agent aspect of the Trickster really leaves him open for a lot of possibilities. And I'm pretty sure he doesn't mean any genuine harm to either of the Winchesters -- Sam states in this episode that the Trickster is able to make people see his own reality, so I think everything that happened here, from Tuesday to Wednesday to Sam's agonizing three months, was literally a trick, something the Trickster conjured up. Dean doesn't remember any of it because Dean wasn't the one being tricked. What I came away with was that the Trickster didn't do any of this with malicious intent. He really does want Sam to open his eyes to something. I don't know what that is but I can't wait to find out.

The absence of Ruby, and Bela especially, is why this episode was so well-focused. And also think about it...the Trickster's not going to insert them into the fake reality he's constructed for Sam. He might not even know who they are! So extra kudos to the show for getting that right.

Omg yes yes yes! First the brush to Dean's neck, a chaste kiss perhaps, then Dean would them turn his head and their lips met, and in the heat of the moment ( hee! ), they have sex!

Don't you think that Dean was so damn sexy when he was tying up the laces of his boots, grooving to that song, pointing his finger at Sam over and over and over again?

And after this, Sam is SO NOT GOING TO LET DEAN OUT OF HIS SIGHT, EVER!!

I *LOVE* my boys.

ps a friend told me that the hug was something that Jared did spontaneously, that it wasn't originally in the script SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!

Terrific comparison pics, dear! 'Twas a tour de force episode: acting, writing, everything. Great blend of comedy, angst, and freakiness. And there was quite a bit of stuff that wasn't spelled out for viewers that had to be figured out from visual cues--a good challenge there. I also thought it was one of the slashiest episodes by far, even w/o the hug. Dean's singing and pointing at Sam, brushing teeth together, the take control comment, all the little sexual jibes. Really good!

I'm pretty frickin' happy! :-D

I have almost given up on SPN ever regaining the glory that was seasons 1 and 2, but omg I think S3:11 surpasses even some of the episodes from the first two seasons! I'd be really, really amazed if SPN didn't get any official recognition from the relevent people.

Ditto to everything you said! I was just telling a friend that my brothers *never* brushed their teeth together, and Sam was staring at Dean gargling with the head thrown back, exposing that sexy, sexy neck!

And how awesome is it that Dean has a blue toothbrush while Sam's pinkish purple?

/is very, very happy too!

*snort*

Do you know that I have a sort of squick about brushing my teeth with people present? I never even would let my husband see me brush my teeth! So for SamnDean to do it means the ultimate in intimacy! Hahaha!

And from now on I'm flying you over here to watch The Show with me. You see all the teensy details of everything. I didn't even take note of the toothbrush! I'm so glad Sam and I share the same taste in toothbrush color!

Ahaha, maybe they'll show us what shampoo they're using next time, or whether they err, share underwear or not. And I've always have this hankering to see them doing laundry!

Btw, it was a friend who noted the colour of their toothbrushes, I didn't notice it either, was distracted by that long expense of Dean's neck - gargling and gargling and gargling. Sam seemed to be entranced by that, yeah?

I think these are the things that just took my breath away:
- They talk at the same time.
- Sam's 'Eat your breakfast!' :D
- The ways Dean dies - I could never guess them beforehand!
- The way Dean simply yields when being hugged, unlike Sam at AHBL. I know he was in pain but then.
- Sam on the parking lot when he hugged dead!Dean? He sounds like the one in gag reel when he couldn't open the bottle. And that made me laugh because he sounds as if he were choked with laugh instead of tears. :P
- I agree with you Sam doesn't look too wretched with his brother dying. But I can accept that after I read Oselle's reply.
- You know, when Sam took the bullet out of his body, I thought somehow they changed bodies and it was Sam who was shot instead of Dean. :P I know, slowpoke in my part, but it can be a great bunny.

What else? I want to say many more but I can't remember. I just watched it once! :D

I've watched it 3 times and it got better each time!

I so wanted to see scruffy Sam, not during all those months but maybe during the first couple of days or so, before he became that mean and terribly efficient KILLING MACHINE OMG *flails*

But no! I didn't see Sam thinking it funny when Dean died at that parking lot!!! I bled for Sam, I really did, esp when it looked like he was expecting for the day to begin all over again and it didn't. Oh SAM!!!

SO MUCH LOVE!!!!!
