Each time I watched Merlin and saw Arthur in all his chainmail glory,
Photobucket

I'd be ( without fail ) thinking of [livejournal.com profile] deleerium's chainmail Orlijah, the scorching and sizzling hot, and I mean HOT, Armour, and of course, *this* knight )

And because I promise [livejournal.com profile] illuins_lair links to old Orlijah favourites, because she's a sweetie for leaving me such lovely feedbacks to my Orlijah fics, here they are, 4 classic Orlijahs. You'll love them, though you've probably read them all, but if you hadn't, go now!

Knight verse by [livejournal.com profile] deleerium.
Football, Orlijah high school fic, also by [livejournal.com profile] deleerium.
Clue verse by Abundantlyqueer. The fic that made Orlijah the pairing for me.
Damaged by [livejournal.com profile] arabia764. The fic that made me create my LJ!

I was reading We Were Here, a J2 AU by [livejournal.com profile] justthismorning last night and I was immediately reminded of Abundantlyqueer's amazing 'The Ice Age', a spin-off of the equally amazing [livejournal.com profile] crazybutsound's 'London Calling'. And just like these two stories, 'We Were Here' is about street kids prostituting themselves to make ends meet.

'Ice Age' and 'London Calling' are unfortunately never completed but I'm still hoping that the authors would one day continue where they left off, the fics are that wonderful! And reading 'We Were Here', I imagine that Orli and Elijah and Dom and Billy would some day somehow get their happy ending the way Jared and Jensen did in 'We Were Here'.

Links for those who're interested ( they're Dom/Billy and Orli/Elijah btw ), and for shippers of said pairings on my flist who had somehow missed those fics.

'London Calling' - Part 1 and Part 2.
The Ice Age and from the same verse, 'Starlings' - Part 1 and Part 2.

Back to We Were Here, it was an enjoyable read. Not quite what I had been expecting ( What?!? I thought it was going to be hooker!porn! ) but enjoyable nevertheless. And it opened my eyes to the plights of homeless kids living in the streets, and yeah, I thought these things only happened in the slums of third world countries. Well-written and with great OCs, teen!Jensen looking after young!Jared absolutely broke my heart.

[livejournal.com profile] cloudlessclimes wrote another exquisite sequel to Deeper Than All Roses. This is the second sequel. The first one is here.

Title : From One Who Stays
Author : [livejournal.com profile] cloudlessclimes
Pairing : Orlando/Elijah

Orlando mourns, but the healing process has started ... )

I cried, I really cried when I read what [livejournal.com profile] cloudlessclimes wrote as a follow-up to Deeper Than All Roses. The pain, the sadness, the despair. The grief that everyone must at one time or another go through when a loved one leave us forever. She began thus ...

"I loved my friend. He went away from me.
There's nothing more to say.
The poem ends, Soft as it began ----
I loved my friend."
Langston Hughes

But not all tears are of sadness, or evil, as Gandalf wisely said at the Gray Havens. I cried too, when I read these two fics but this time the tears that came forth were of laughter, and delight.

City of Night by [livejournal.com profile] montmorency and Mrs Craddock's Diary by [livejournal.com profile] arabia764.

The former is an Orlijah vampire!fic in which Elijah was an American vampire in Paris with Orlando as the tourist who was more than a little fascinated with his unconventional tour-guide, taking him on a journey to the darker side of the most romantic city in the world. Totally hilarious, brilliantly written.

The latter is an Orlijah, too, but one written in a fresh, new way. It's RPS Orlijah from the POV of one Mrs Craddock, an utterly charming elderly lady whose new job was to look after Elijah's and Orlando's apartment in London. I was in stitches the whole time I was reading it. And Part 2 is no less hilarious either.

Three fics that made me cry with sadness, and with laughter.

Thank you, ladies. You're all Awesome.

I was reading [livejournal.com profile] semaphore27's 'This is the Way the World Ends', rec'd by [livejournal.com profile] sophinisba when my eyes were drawn like a magnet to this *points excitedly*, right at the bottom of this Masterlist, see, it's there - 'Cloudbursting' ( Orlijah for [livejournal.com profile] slackerbitch ), and from there I found out about 'Journey's End' - six whole chapters of them!

The story is good, it feels real, as if it really happens. While not exactly a sad story, it's not a happy one either. Bittersweet, that's what it is. I felt like crying and laughing at the same time.

Here's the first chapter. The rest of it can be found in the afore-mentioned Masterlist. And 'Cloudbursting', to be read after the final chapter.

SQUEEEEEEE!!!!!

[livejournal.com profile] talesinbloom did it! She wrote an Orlijah, a scrumplicious, funny and very sexy Orlijah right here.

And for those who haven't read this extremely useful discovery, you might want to read this first *g*

Thank you, Tales ♥
