OMG yes ( my #3). And the flickerings really did me in. Because before that, it was the ghosts that they hunt that do that, and when I saw John himself doing that *breaks down*
And the look of absolute pride when he looked at his sons, esp at Dean, the look that said "you did right, son" and Dean getting it, too. And John was not that free with his compliments when he was alive and Dean ( if not Sam ) was always striving for his father's approval, and to see John finally giving it to him, *then*.
he wishes for "Mary to be alive, Sam to go to school, Dean to have a home"
The angst for me was mainly from John wishing for Dean to have a home, because he was acknowledging that Dean didn't have a home, Dean specifically, not Sam, because I guess he realized that it's quite possible for Sam to have his white-pickets but not Dean, and that made me feel really, really sad.
