I finally got to watch S3/07.

*** Spoilery pics under the cut ***

That final scene, it tore at my heart. It's even more heart-wrenching than

7. Dean calling John in 'Home'. "Dad, I don't know what to do."

6. Sam dying himself watching Dean dying.

5. Sam and Dean watching their father being burned at the pyre.

No tears, none *seen* anyway, unlike in this scene.
4. where Dean poured his heart out to Sam. Why he felt that he shouldn't be alive.

Even more moving than
3. John making his final appearance. Omg, the sight of him flickering like the ghost he was, fairly broke me.

2. Dean saying "I'm tired, Sam. The intent to end his own life clear in his voice and expressions.

Oh Dean, you made me cry like a baby when you gave him
*your* baby. No tears, nothing OTT, just you handing over your most prized possession to the person you love most in the world. This, this is the most moving scene for me from the entire episodes from S1 to 3.

What about you? What are your most heart-wrenching, throat-constricting and gut-twisting moments?

And when John came back to save his boys from the YED and the look of pride on his face before he disappeared in a swirly white mist

OMG yes ( my #3). And the flickerings really did me in. Because before that, it was the ghosts that they hunt that do that, and when I saw John himself doing that *breaks down*

And the look of absolute pride when he looked at his sons, esp at Dean, the look that said "you did right, son" and Dean getting it, too. And John was not that free with his compliments when he was alive and Dean ( if not Sam ) was always striving for his father's approval, and to see John finally giving it to him, *then*.

he wishes for "Mary to be alive, Sam to go to school, Dean to have a home"

The angst for me was mainly from John wishing for Dean to have a home, because he was acknowledging that Dean didn't have a home, Dean specifically, not Sam, because I guess he realized that it's quite possible for Sam to have his white-pickets but not Dean, and that made me feel really, really sad.
