No - I haven't read this one. I saw it, read the first line "Its sunny the day he buries his brother" and never went any further as death fics seriously mess with my head and I'm in a sad mood for days afterwards. Should I give it a go? Do I need tissues? *worries*

Oh sweetie, I cannot recommend this story enough. It's totally brilliant and absolutely awesome. I've read it at least a dozen times already. And yes, you're going to need the Kleenex, but without giving away too much, Sam and Dean had years and years of utter domestic bliss together before the grief at the very end of the story. Honey, the story's totally worth the tears. Trust me :)

Brief summary : Sam was badly injured and couldn't hunt anymore. Dean found a job, got them settled in a house. Sam continued his studies, became a lawyer, and get this - the part I love most - he managed to convince Dean to go to night school!

LAYNE! Sam and Dean had years and years of utter domestic bliss together before the grief at the very end of the story. Not enough years. Not enough! Oh god, I seriously can't stop crying. Just when I have got myself together part of it flits thru my brain, a random thought like "They didn't find him for 3 days" and I'm set off again. I hate it. It was beautiful and gorgeous and so very very them and Dean as a third grade teacher makes my heart sing and Sam left again but came back and I laughed and giggled so many times but oh god - I hate it. So I'm gonna make a cover for it and bind it to keep forever but I don't know if I can read it ever again as its just too sad. I really don't do sad well. And the picture of them sitting on the impala ---> is not helping! *cries*

I am off now to tell the author that she is fucking amazing then I'm gonna find something stupidly happy and over flowing with schmoop where they live for a really REALLY long time.

*Muah* Thank you so much for rec'ing this to me and giving me a gentle shove to read it. It was wonderful.

"They didn't find him for 3 days"

Omg that part broke me, too. Because a corpse, in a drain, for three days? He must have looked *horrible*.

I love the part where that Jessica-lookalike crashed into Sam, and Dean just upped and left. Dean was jealous! *wibbles*

Sam with a cane is kind of sexy, yeah? And Dean with glasses! I wish there's a manip somewhere of them like that.

Btw, [livejournal.com profile] elohvee wrote this small, romantic interlude in the 'We Were Twenty' universe where Dean brought Sam out to dinner.

Omg that part broke me, too. Because a corpse, in a drain, for three days? He must have looked *horrible*. And Sam had to id him *tears up again* Oh and how much did I love Mrs Bennett! I just want to have a cup of tea and a gossip with her.

Oh but not only was Dean jealous - still, even then after all that time, he wanted the best for Sam even if it wasn't him. *wibbles* Dean kills me with his self-sacrifice. *smacks him up the head and tells him how wonderful he is till it sinks in*

Sam with a cane is kind of sexy, yeah? COMPLETELY. I paused and spend a goodly amount of time trying to decide what kind of cane he would have. Is it modern and a bit cool (Kinda like House's) or more dignified and understated. I went with understated in the end. Seemed more *Sam*.

And Dean with glasses! Big, major kink of mine. EPPP! Love me some glasses. And it has nothing to do with the fact that I have had my own since I was thirteen. *g*

I wish there's a manip somewhere of them like that. *dies*

Loved, loved, loved the interlude. Bless you for requesting it. Seriously, how good is her voice and characterisation of both Dean and Sam. It makes the story flow so well and really helps to suck you in as it just is them.
