Yes! He'd feel left out of the conversation, even if Sam tried really hard to include him.
And then, all it would take to make Sam equally uncomfortable would be some discussion of upcoming holiday plans; going home to be with the family, going skiing or to Hawaii, anything our boys know nothing about or have no experience in.
Any idea whether canon!Dean ever completed his high school education or not?
It's rather a kink of mine, where Dean feels inferior when compared to Sam's college buddies. Dean's street-smart of course, and Sam would never, ever look down on him.

Heh, not if Dean's around. I'm sure he'd say some smart-ass things to make Sam feels okay again :)
I'm assuming Dean finished high school, but I don't think either he or John got all excited about it. I'm thinking John kept them in school only because it was less suspicious that way. There were no doubt times when they had to pretend to be normal.
OTOH, I don't know that Dean would care that much whether he finished high school or not. He may have decided to let Sam have school as his "thing" that he does better than Dean, because Dean's much more excited about hunting. I think it was pretty clear in Bloodlust, when Dean was talking to Gordon, that he felt very little connection with any of his peers in school. He probably couldn't wait to get out so he could spend more time with his dad, learning even more about hunting, and cars.
Sam probably saw school as the closest to normal that he was ever likely to get, so he threw himself into it with a vengeance.
Dunno, but those are some possibilities. Would be nice if we had some clarification in canon.
