Anybody here reading In From The Cold by
ladyjanelly?
This verse has been posted for quite some time, but for some reasons, I have this strange reluctance to rec it. Not because I don't like it, oh no, not at all, and also not because it's a WIP ( there're 15 chapters up now, the author updates regularly ). It's more like because I love it so much, so much so that I feel like hugging it to my chest, to savour lovingly and in private, like a child with an ice-cream which she refuses to share with anybody. Which is ridiculous rather, since she has lots of people reading that fic.
Someone had described 'In From The Cold' as a graceful fic and I can't agree with her more. The pace is slow and gentle, but never boring. It's lovingly paced out, and the chapters are like petals of a flower opening up one by one. The words, lines and paras are like tiny, barely-there kisses brushing over your erotic spots, like words whispered in the dark of the nights, like lullabies sung to a baby ...
Anyway *clears throat* the story is a J2 AU, Jensen is a homeless person who has no idea who or what he was, while Jared is the paramedic who takes care of Jensen when he comes into his clinic late one night, broken and beaten. This story has almost all of my kinks in it - it has Jared patching and cleaning up Jensen, Jared taking Jensen in, Jared teaching Jensen to read *whimpers*, but the story is not just about Jared taking care of Jensen, it's also the other way around, and oh my, Jensen taking care of Jared is so very sweet it makes my heart melt every which way.
I can't rec this gentle and beautiful story highly enough!
Also,
digitalwave made this lovely cover-art to go with the story.

Date: 2008-02-29 04:34 am (UTC)Heheh. Guh, you make me counfused. But sometimes I can be so 'stupid' like Dean. Hmm.
So you think Sam is the stubborn one? How is he and how is Dean, actually?

Date: 2008-02-29 04:50 am (UTC)Dean is bottom and Sam is topThey are BOTH of them very stubborn. But Dean would usually give in to Sam. He can't say no to Sam!

Date: 2008-02-29 03:43 am (UTC)There are elements of Alec in Dean but they're very different. Except for a few episodes, Alec is generally a light-hearted character who functions as a foil to Jessica Alba's haunted and brooding Max. Alas, Jessica Alba pulls off "haunted" and "brooding" about as well as you'd expect her to.
Frankly, I think Jessica Alba is a big reason why there isn't more good Dark Angel fic. It's really, really hard to get past all her pouting and posing. And overall the show is really...quite awful. Alec is pretty much the only thing that makes it worth watching. I'm ashamed that I own it. I hide it when people come over.
If you can get your hands on it, the first season of Dark Angel featured Jensen Ackles in one episode as Ben, the precursor to Alec. Totally worth watching, I mean TOTALLY (http://oselle.livejournal.com/300313.html#cutid1). I own this one too. Sigh.
