The ones where Dean doesn't remember.

I read this story a little while back and have been reading it again and again since then. It's an amnesic!fic, Dean in world so ordinary that it's extraordinary. It's quiet and dreamlike, and quite unsettling. And despite having read it repeatedly, I still find it fascinating, finding new meanings to each and every line, and I still am not sure that I've got the interpretation right. And as with all of
essenceofmeanin's works, this one is rich with details, and I found myself remembering snippets of it from time to time - Dean going to work, an ordinary work in an ordinary office and going back to his ordinary apartment with its empty walls. Dean riding the bus with the floppy-haired stranger looking and looking at him, them having cigarretes together. Quiet, beautiful moments that stay with me long after I finished reading it.
Every day, Dean Winchester wakes up and goes to work. Dean works in an office and it doesn’t occur to him to dislike it. His office squats hidden in an industrial park of similar buildings. He walked into three wrong buildings his first day before he found the job he was fifteen minutes late for. He’s been there two weeks now. He comes ten minutes early every morning so he can have time for one last cigarette before the day begins, ten minutes to breathe in the damp smell of the asphalt and a faint touch of the ocean far away. It’s never sunny where his office is.
Speaking of amnesic!fics, here is one more. And don't you just love it when different authors give different twists to what is basically the same storyline, namely Dean or Sam or both of them losing their memories, but with their own trademarks and flavours, making each story unique and memorable?

walkawayslowly. Wrtten for last year's Big-Bang, this one had me crying out for MORE. And again, it's Dean who loses his memory, and Sam has to adapt to being around a man who has no idea that he used to be Sam's brother. A Must Read if you haven't already!
