Drooling over Dool.

Watched a couple of clips from 'Days of Our Lives' ( thank you ckll! ) and I'm reminded why I'm not really into daytime soaps. Nothing to do with Jensen, he was adorable, but it's the type of show itself, and I'm not talking about DOOL specifically but soap operas in general.

It's the way they talk, so stilted and so -- structured, and the studioish-ness of everything. And now I realize what some of Shymalan's movies remind me of - daytime soaps! But I guess that's what defined soap operas. And why on earth are they called "soaps" in the first place? Any idea?

But having said that, I did watch and enjoy 'The Bold and the Beautiful', way back when I was a student and still have the time to watch daytime programmes, and that's about the only soap that I followed faithfully. Mainly because of Caroline and Thorne, LOVE those two. I was devastated when they killed off Caroline, and changed the actor who played Thorne. I lost interest after that. Caught a couple of episodes here and there recently, and the only people that I recognized are Brooke and Ridge and omg they have changed! All those wrinkles and the grey hairs ( though Stephanie has remained unremarkably unchanged ) and in a way I'm glad that Caroline and Thorne are no longer around.

Anyway, back to DOOL. Heard Eric Brady saying the name "Sami" and it sounded very different from the way he said "Sammy". Dean mostly called Sam "Sammy" when he's panicking, or when he's teasing him. Eric's "Sami" was much softer sounding than "Sammy", and Eric's voice is sweeter than Dean's ( of course, Jensen was 10 years younger back then ) which is deeper and more gravelly and much, much sexier!

Eric drove much the same way as Dean, though. The way he glanced at the sideway mirror, the way he looked at his sister sitting beside him, not much different from the way Dean looked at Sam. No Metalicca blasting from the radio then, of course.

I don't have pics of Eric driving, but I do have pics of them sleeping ...





And I wonder very much whether Saam and Madison were watching 'Days of Our Lives' here. Hee!!

Awww! I wish mom hadn't retaped over DOOL when she would Jensen was on, cuz she'd tape them, watch them when she got home from work, then rewind and start over. Actually, there might be one tape around here that still had Jensen from then in it, haha.

It's so weird to see people be all "DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY DOOL WITH JENSEN IN IT?!" now... because I remember him from then. It's so crazy to admit that I've liked Jensen for 11 years, which is like half my life. lol

Everything he was in since DOOL (besides SPN) I never watched because either I didn't like it before he got a part in the show (DARK ANGEL, my mom watched it and was really mad when it didn't come back lol) or we didn't get the channel (Smallville and Dawson's Creek)....

It would have been awesome, haha. Jensen's character was mentioned sometime during this summer, because the chick who plays his character's mom goes on vacation every year or something and they make up an excuse for her to leave, and this time... it was because Eric was in a car accident and she was out there helping him recover. And I busted out laughing when mom told me because of how the season finale of season 1 with the car accident, lol.

Do you know/remember Reichen and Chip who won 'The Amazing Race' season 4? Reichen's a die-hard fan of DOOL, and back during his post-TAR hey-days, he said he was trying for a guess spot on DOOL. I know that that he appeared on 'Frasier' once. Any idea whether he managed to guest star in DOOL?

Those two caps of Eric and Dean sleeping are a couple of my favorites. I guess I have a thing for seeing him at rest and peaceful-looking. And I seriously cracked up when I saw the crazy position he had gotten himself into in that recliner. So cute, so Dean. Thanks for the smile tonight.

I think soap operas are called that because when they first came on the air in the fifties/sixties, the commercials aired during them---and their sponsors---consisted mainly of laundry soap advertisers. I may be wrong . . .

I've watched DOOL since I was five years old--seriously! But not religiously. I'll go for months without seeing it and then pick back up on it pretty easily when I feel like it. It does get very silly sometimes.

I enjoy soap operas on some levels, but compared to other TV shows on nowadays, they're so unrealistic. The people always look perfect, their homes look perfect, and they never have money troubles (unless it's worry about their multi-million dollar company).

I loved DOOL but they stopped airing it here before Jensen popped up. Puh :( I watched it for the character of John Black and his awesome brotherly relationship with Bo Brady *sighs happily*

And I also watched "The Bold and the Beautiful". I loved Ridge but I was so sad when he kept losing the women he loved. They all died on him, the poor thing ;P

I loved Ridge best with... argh, Hunter Tylo played the character. She crashed in an airplane but then she wasn't dead after all. I couldn't stand Brooke. She was a really icky character X(

Yeah, Ron Moss, the one playing Ridge, said in an interview that he had no ambitions to do anything else (I saw him only in two Italian movies: in the fantasy one he played a Saracene prince, in the other, a mini-series, he was together with Carol Alt). He loved being on a soap opera because he also had a band and with his filming schedule, he had time for music too :)

Dude, don't be knocking the soaps! Thanks to my mum and my nana I've grown up watching Days and Bold and The Young and the Restless. I don't like the aussie or british soaps but I'm a sucker for the old school american soaps. Especially Days and Bold. I've been known to tape them.

And Jensen is gorgeous, no matter the age. Even though I know this sounds totally stalkerish and crazyfangirlish I could watch him sleep all day. Especially as Dean when he tends to stick his ass up in the air! *blushes*
