Just came back from watching Narnia. Awesome.

There are some changes from the book but nothing drastic. I just adore the kids especially Peter. The movie Peter kind of looks a bit like Prince William. Hee, how appropriate, esp when he was crowned king. Tilda Swinton is PERFECT as the White Witch though it did cross my mind that Cate Blanchett would make an awesome witch too. Liam Neeson is , well, majestic, as the voice of Aslan. One of the most moving scenes in the movie IMO was when Aslan was killed by the witch at the Stone Table and had his mane shaved off.

Mr and Mrs Beaver are simply too cute for words. And it's good to see Kiran Shah playing Ginarrbrik. I initially thought he was the guy who played Oompa Loompa. And Rupert Everett is the voice of the fox! That I didn't realize. I only knew about that when the credits came out at the end of the movie.

There are quite a number of scenes that remind me of LOTR. I suppose that shouldn't be surprising because the movie was filmed in NZ plus they have the same team to do the special effects and stuff. So there were times when I went 'Oh that's Caradhras, and that's the river Anduin, those creatures look like Orcs and surely that's Aragorn receiving his Anduril from Elrond'.

Unfortunately I didn't get to hear the song sung by Alanis Morissette at the end of the movie. The lights came on halfway through the credits. Guh. And I hear people say that the song is beautiful. Good excuse to watch the movie a second time perhaps, at another theatre where the movie is shown right to the very end.

A beautiful movie. Not LOTR of course but still beautiful.

It opens here tomorrow, but I won't get to see it unless the snow comes and goes quicker than they're expecting. I can't drive in snow at all. I'm glad you saw it and gave us this refiew.

I guess some glimpses of LOTR will make me have goosebumps all over. ^^

I liked it a lot too! It felt like someone tried very hard to make it beautiful and meaningful, and it worked. I love the story and felt it was well-served by this film.

My husband tried to be funny and said that the Narnia people are saving a bundle by using old props of LOTR :-)

I liked it a lot when they added that bombing scene at the beginning of the film. My guess is that they dont want us to hate Edmund too much. And I love the adult kings ( King Peter - oh wow )and queens. Too bad they were there for such a short time!

Plenty of LoTR nostalgic moments there!

I'm hoping they are planning for the whole Chronicles series (although "The Last Battle" might be a hard-sell, come to think of it).

I kinda liked grown-up Edmund, myself. *snicker* I tend toward slender dark-haired types, and that flowing hair, yum.
