One important question regarding 4.20

Did Sam lay down there beside Dean on the bed, they way Dean did, ( here! ), ( laid down beside Sam I mean, not beside himmself, obviously ) in 'Long Distance Call'?


I'd say Sam did. Dean seemed to be almost falling off the bed there! What do you say? :)

And omg, I was freaking out the last ten minutes or so. I was so afraid that Castiel was going to have to find another vessel. Eeeps. And oh, how heart-breaking it was that Castiel said what he said regarding not serving anyone else ( I guess that means Dean ).

All in all, a wonderful episode, especially for Castiel/Misha fans, which I am, big time. And yeah, I've been spoiled for the final two episodes. I tried not to look, but I'm weak ... *head-desk*

Edit : I wasn't spoiled, well only a little, for this episode, so that was wonderful, finding out about Jimmy. I did know that Castiel was going to bleed beforehand, and I immediately thought that Castiel had fallen. I'm so glad the writers didn't go that path. And also, I wonder whether there'll be a Ruby backstory as well. Not the human that she was currently in, but the real Ruby, when she was human and all.

Edit 2 : And please don't take this post TOO seriously!!

From what I understood of their dialogue, Sam was supposed to be keeping guard of Jimmy, so I have to go with no.

I think they were probably taking turns guarding Jimmy, so they were trading the bed. However, my first thought was the same as yours. "Ooh, only two beds! Jimmy has one, so Sam and Dean have to share, right?" But I'm betting at this point, if they shared a bed, they'd each keep strictly to their side of the invisible line drawn between them.

I've been trying to avoid spoilers about the last two, and I've done pretty well with 422, but I know a fair amount about 421. CANNOT WAIT!!!!

Ah, but these two brothers are very close, and taking out the wincesty stuff from the equation, I think it's perfectly alright for Sam to lie down beside Dean, not to sleep, just to rest his weary body heheh.

If they were keeping eye on Jimmy, they were taking turns. It's just logical and it fits their upbringing (it's ingrained in them). If the two were resting, who would keep an eye on the civilian?

In another situation, like the lack of rooms with two beds, I think they'd share without much problem. :)

Actually i agree with jellicle but your elaboration here makes sense. Hm. How about if sam is only slouching with the back on the headrest and a hand stroking dean's hair, you know, to lull him to sleep?

Dean was sleeping way to the side he was almost falling off! Look at his legs, I think they were dangling by the side of the bed. Why? And the other pillow was crooked!!!

Not thinking of anything wincesty though, just the thought that Sam might be resting on the bed by his brother's side filled me with such glee!!

It's Sam's birthday? I've totally forgotten about that!

Heh, yes, of course. No Wincesty implications at all! Just two weary brothers in a small bed that seems hardly big enough to hold either of them, let alone both of them. They'd probably have to forget about that line, just so neither of them falls off the bed! There might even be surreptitious snuggling, purely for warmth on a cold night, of course. :)

I don't know if anyone else ever noticed, but in a lot of the episodes where I've seen Dean sleep, he has always slept on the left side of the bed (your left his right) and always closest to the door. I don't know if that means anything but I noticed this pattern after rewatching the first 2 seasons. I still have to look through and review season 3 and 4. I'm thinking this position in the pic is just reflecting his usual sleep pattern.

And it was (now that I've seen the episode) a night watch scene. Sam was suppposed to keep an eye on Jimmy and he let him get away (darn blood addict *wink)

My first thought was yes they were sharing a bed, but then it became pretty clear they were taking turns watching Jimmy. I think Sam maybe sat on the edge of the bed. I don't think he was laying down on it though. He would want to be able to easily stop Jimmy should he try leaving, as far as Dean sleeping off to the side of the bed in other episodes, well he always makes room for his little brother should Sam want to join him.

I like your thoughts!! Have you read John's journal? I love those entries where he mentioned his two young sons sleeping on one bed, and Dean not being able to sleep unless baby!Sam was by his side. And I don't mean that in any wincesty way, just Dean needing his Sam then, just the way I hope they'll always need each other no matter what.

Jimmy went to bed wearing his jacket and tie! Who the heck does that?!?!

Bit of trivia for you about the opening fishing scene. I watched the episode with the captions on, and when the scene opened on the water captions read,"Creedence Clearwater Revival's 'Green River' playing," and then the opening lyrics were quoted:

Well, take me back down where cool water flows,
Let me remember things I love...

I've noticed before that the captions for the aired episode included a song that didn't make it into the final edits, but it's a tremendously appropriate song and meaningful lyrics for this scene. However, the quiet of the scene that was actually aired was powerful, too.

I was saying to a friend that the writers should totally have taken that chance to give Castiel a set of new clothes!!

And yeah, that tie lol. Or even better, Sam or Dean could have lend him their night shirts?!!??

I wish episodes that I downloaded came with captions. That fishing scene said so many things, didn't it? And that song ... I wish they didn't edit that out. The lyrics said so much, didn't they?

Yes, and I already thought what she was thinking when I saw the scene. I think the character motivation for the dream was pretty obvious after all that's been said so far this season from Dean. I left her that bit of trivia about the song, too.
