as I thought it fun, walking down memory lane of old TV shows gone by.

My favourite TV shows that are no longer around, some of them rivalling Supernatural in my love for them. Well, almost *g*

Starsky and Hutch ( I'm a Hutch!girl )
McGyver
Battlestar Galactica, the original one ( Apollo!Girl )
Dallas ( I shipped Pam/Bobby like crazy )
Lucan
Man From Atlantis
Happy Days
The 6 Million Dollar Man
The Bionic Woman ( and yes, I shipped Jamie/Steve! )
Charlie's Angels
Flamingo Road ( I love Lane )
Mork and Mindy OMG!!
The Invisible Man
The Swiss Family Robinson ( and how awesome it is that [livejournal.com profile] tabaqui wrote a J2 rewrite of that story here )
Little House on the Prairie
Sword of Justice ( HUGE crush on the hero )
Nam : Tour of Duty ( [livejournal.com profile] tabaqui's fic, South China Sea reminded me strongly of Tour Of Duty )
Ultraman
Beauty and the Beast
Mad About You
Hunter
Sapphire and Steele
The Donny and Marie Show
Centennial
The X-Files
Remington Steele ( who would have guessed then that Pierce Brosnan would one day be James Bond? )
Twin Peaks. I became a fan of Kyle McLachlan and Lara Flynn Boyle from watching this series. And the image of Sherylin Fenn ( sp? ) knotting that cherry stem with her tongue would always be imprinted on my mind.

And lots more but those are the ones that I can remember right now!

That was when I first have my crush on Patrick Duffy! Omg, remember his flippers? And the way he always seemed to be puzzled and all?

*sighs*

Edit : I meant his webbed fingers and toes, not flippers

Out of the shows you've mentioned I only gushed about Little House on the Prairie.

And recently I was crazy about Battlestar Galactica 2003, but that's a different show altogether, so I've heard. :)

Which sister did you prefer, Laura or Mary? I adored both, though I loved Mary a little bit more. I was so sad when she went blind :(

I've watched one episode of the new BSG but unfortunately I couldn't make head or tail of it, though maybe that was because the episode that I downloaded wasn't the pilot one. I could see that it was a good series though. And apparently Apollo is a girl? Heheh, talk about genderswap :))

Hutch? HUTCH????

I'm a Starsky girl all the way through. Is this the first time we've ever disagreed?

There was a tv Swiss Family Robinson? I *adored* the film, played it in my back garden with my best friend Wendy - that's when we weren't playing Mann from U.N.C.L.E!

Oh I love both Starsky and Hutch, only I love Hutch a liddle bit more, just as I love Dean a wee bit more than Sam. Did you slash them, Tru? I was only 14 at that time but I was already slashing them, only in my head though 'coz there was no fanfics at that time.

I didn't quite like the movie though. It was funny alright, but I thought it a bit OTT.

Yes! There was The Swiss Family Robinson the series! I remember parking myself in front of the telly every Tuesday night waiting for the show with bated breath. I haven't seen the movie though.

I preferred Laura. I think she was the main character so it was probably before I started going against the flow and liking the secondary characters. :)

What reminds me about the question: who is a primary and who is a secondary character in SPN. :) Not to wank, but I'm curious, do you have an opinion on that? I think at the beginning Dean was supposed to be secondary, although Jensen's acting kind of threw me off the track.

And apparently Apollo is a girl? Heheh, talk about genderswap

LOLZ!!! Well, depends how you look at it. It's Starbuck who is physically a girl, but there was a joke in the fandom, that it was Apollo who acted like a girl most of the time. I loved Apollo though. And Jamie Bamber was the one who warmed me up to the concept of slash, so there goes the credit.

Do you remember what was the title of the episode you watched? If you have a spare minute, I strongly recommend this show. It's finished now, but it was awesome with all the angst, apocalypse royal and political commentary of the current world situation.

No, I can't remember the title. They're not currently airing the show here. The one I saw was downloaded from the internet. My download rate is SUPER CRAPPY at the moment so I guess I won't be downloading much, except for SPN of course, which takes FOREVER to dl.

Ooops, so it was Starbucks who's the girl in the new BSG? Heheh, sorry, I got confused.

I didn't really think of Dean as the secondary character during the earlier seasons even though at that time I was more of a Sam!girl than I was Dean's. Dean didn't feel like a secondary character to me, not then, not now. I thought of them as equals!

Richard Hatch! *swoon*

He was my TV boyfriend for a long, long time. I used to picture the heroes in the books that I read to look like him!!

To me it was the impression I had from the pilot (and that kind of first impression thing stays a little) but they quickly became equals as well. :)

I LOLed at your comment that Apollo was the girl, because a lot of fans (especially Starbuck fans) would actually agree. ;)

Oh, and forgot to add, Richard Hatch was on BSG-2003! *grin* Damn handsome dude.

He WAS???!!??? I wish I've seen that! Have you seen pics of young Richard Hatch playing Apollo? Sooo cute! And I watched The Streets of San Fransisco because of him, even though I didn't really like that show!

Date: 2009-05-02 06:08 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] evening-spirit.livejournal.com
Of course I've seen his older pics. And while he was cute as Apollo, he really was handsome as terrorist/rebellion leader/sleazy antagonist/vice-president Tom Zarek. *grin* Really

I think, what you need to download if your dl speed gets any better, is the episode "Bastille Day". :p

*notes down*

Bastille Day, okay. And thanks! Though I've got to admit I'm a little bit scared to see him as an older man and I have no idea how he looks like now!

I could still remember the music of that series and I could hear it right now!! The strongest image of it in my head is of the soldiers running to the helicopter with the Vietnamese chasing and shooting after them. And I remember thinking that Tour Of Duty was so much better than Band Of Brothers!

I remember Combat, too, though I didn't quite like it but then maybe that was because I was too young at that time, maybe 5 or 6.

I watched a LOT of TV back in my younger days. I would still be watching a lot of TV now too if not for LJ!!

Linda Hamilton was awesome in Beauty And The Beast, wasn't she? And I was so happy to see her in the movie The Terminator!

McGyver... I had a big crush on Richard Dean Anderson, lol. And loved Twin Peaks... and Dallas.

Oh, and I've friended you... hope that's ok. :)

Hi there *waves*

I really, really love Dallas! I remember counting the days, hours, till the next episode LOL, the way I do SPN now. And Twin Peaks, too, though the last few eps were kind of bizarre.

Pity Young McGyver didn't take off :/
Though that's probably a blessing actually, because if that show was up and running, we probably wouldn't have Jared as Sam, and I couldn't imagine anyone else as Dean's little brother.

I've friended you back!

Another Tour Of Duty fan!! Hee, I can imagine the fanfics and many, many OTPs coming from that series if fandoms existed then!

Starsky and Hutch are another two who practically slashed themselves heheh.
