Castiel thought about this. He might have said that Dean was foul-mouthed and funny and hedonistic and that he was arrogant and impulsive and foolish and he was compassionate and noble and fearless, he was broken and yet he endured, hard and yet soft and he had loved his brother too much and yet not wisely enough and that he was so painfully, terribly human that when the angels asked Castiel to come with them and away from this place forever he'd had no choice but to refuse and he could have said any of this to the woman beside him. But he didn't.

Date: 2009-10-23 01:08 am (UTC)Dean asked to call Sam because getting semi-zapped by Castiel (who, up until then he'd thought had no angelic powers left) made him forget what year it was. He thought it was 2009 and that Sam had just called him and he still had time to call Sam back and tell him that they should get back together. As I'm sure you recall, at the beginning of that episode Dean turned Sam down and hung up on him. Since the real message of that episode was not that Dean needed to say yes to Michael but that Dean and Sam needed to be side-by-side, I figured this would have to be Future!Dean's greatest regret about the past and the one thing he'd fix if he could. So that's why Dean wanted to call Sam.
Oh, and thanks for the rec :)
