I cried. I used to watch that show regularly, loved it really. Can't quite remember when or why I stopped watching it. Maybe it was when one by one of the original cast quit/were dropped off. Or maybe it was because I didn't have that much time for TV then. I don't know, I really can't remember. But I do remember waiting avidly each week for a new episode.

So. The final episode. Carter was still there! He looked more or less the same as he was back then. A little bit older but still as adorable and sweet as ever. And oh, Dr Benton! I was hoping that George Clooney would be there too but no such luck.

But they did show him in the clips from past episodes. He and Mark Edwards and Juliana Margulies ... happy times. But oh my God, I had no idea that Dr Green died - of cancer it seemed?

ER and House are really the only two medical shows that I'm really into. And Doogie Howser MD. For some reasons I can't quite get into Grey's Anatomy or Chicago Hope and I only watched Scrubs sporadically. How about you? What are your favourite medical TV show(s), then and now?

On another note, the postman came with a bundle of pretty, pretty cards. Thank you [livejournal.com profile] honeyandvinegar, [livejournal.com profile] claudia603, [livejournal.com profile] melyanna_65, [livejournal.com profile] lbilover, [livejournal.com profile] frodosweetstuff, [livejournal.com profile] suzy_74, [livejournal.com profile] verangel!!! I love you ladies lots!! *mwaaaah*

ETA : Dr Kildare! I'm too young to really remember that show but I do remember my sisters squeeing over Richard Chamberlain.

I used to watch ER too and honestly I don't remember the latest season I was in.
Now, sometimes I catch old episode of ER @hallmark.

My favorite medical TV shows are Northern Exposure and Trapper John MD. I was in love with Gregory Harrison, though he's not Trapper.

:D

They're showing ER on Hallmark? Original cast? Because honestly, I didn't know any of the new doctors. And they didn't give off the same ... stature to me.

Btw, I didn't realize that John Stamos ( the cute uncle in Full House! ) was Dr Gates until I saw the credits.

I remember Trapper John MD!

John Stamos is in ER? I didn't know that.

Yes, ER is on Hallmark. I don't remember the season though. It' 6th or something like that.

TRAPPER JOHN! YES! :D

I've never really been big on medical shows - I sporadically watch Scrubs and House. But my number one favourite show in the universe (Supernatural is only a close second) is Diagnosis Murder, which is set in a hospital but is mainly a murder mystery type show.

Speaking of which, I'm watching Diagnosis Murder right now and the guy who played Zachariah on SPN is on it. Weird.

Better than SPN? Now that made me want to download it stat! It's not aired over here unfortunately but googling it up it looks very interesting. I love murder mystery type ( Poirot! ) :)

And I saw that Scott Baio ( Karate Kid ) was in it as well?

Diagnosis Murder has been my absolute favourite since I was a little kid. I have an epic crush on Dick Van Dyke (him being in his 80s matters not to me!)

It's such an awesome show! Funny, clever and sweet.

Yep, Scott Baio was in it for a few years, he was great :)

Hehe, I watched SO MUCH Poirot over Christmas <3

I like ER, too, though I cannot really remember the stories now.

Medical drama, hmm. I think I like Trapper John, M.D. Greg Harrison is hot! :D

I'm a fan of Agatha Christie. Have read all of her books but haven't watched much of Suchet's Poirot unfortunately. I've downloaded a few episodes recently and I can't wait to watch them!

ER with the original cast was a long time ago!!

I think I've watched Trapper John MD but that was years ago. Is the show still running?

oh gosh, I used to watch old school ER way back with the original doctors! I loved that show at the time...

Yay, I'm glad it got there!

No, I don't think so. And nobody reruns it, either. I would love to see it again. Hmm, come to think of it. Now with my slashy mind, wow, Trapper/Greg's character oh my dear.

By far the best medical drama.

Yay, I'm glad the card got there safely. :) I've never really gotten into any medical shows, but there's a new one called Miama Trauma starting in (I hope) Feb or March that will be starring Jeremy Northam. I'll give that a go because he's in it. (See icon. :))

I can't remember how Greg Harrison looked like so I googled him up. This (http://blogs.pitch.com/plog/gregory-harrison.jpg) is what I came up with :DD

A Bruckheimer production - that should be good!

Googled up Northam and I saw that he was in The Tudors. And Agatha's Christie's Poirot too!

And THANK YOU for the story!!

*hands you a hankie*

I haven't watched the final ER, although I followed the shows for quite a while at one stage. Dr. Green died of a brain tumour, didn't he? *hopes I'm thinking of the right character* That was such a long time ago now.

I've enjoyed watching House, too, but my television watching is so sporadic these days, I don't easily keep up with series.

:D

I used to watch ER religiously, but not so much toward the end... It was a really good show, though, wasn't it? I watch reruns on TNT every morning now.

Tried to watch Grey's Anatomy but couldn't get into it. I like Hawthorne (on TNT), but maybe that's just because it's on before Raising the Bar and I really like that show! :D

I adored ER for several years, but soon after Mark Green died, I wasn't interested anymore. Like you said, so much of the original cast had left. I couldn't get into Chicago Hope either as it seemed kind of a poor imitation of ER.

Nurse Jackie on Showtime is terrific. It's a "dramedy" and doesn't sugar coat doctors, nurses, or patients as heroes or martyrs. And it highlights so much of what is wrong with big city American emergency medicine but throws so much clever humor into it all.

When I was a kid I really liked Emergency since it had both doctors and paramedics--two of my favorite things. I also used to watch Chad Everett in Medical Center. :-)

I got so upset watching that short clip of Dr Green dying that I can't imagine what watching the whole storyline would do to me. I loved Dr Green. Clooney, you swooned over, Carter - you just wanted to smish him, but Dr Green? You liked and respected him, if you know what I mean.

I think I only watched a couple of episodes of GA. IDK, I found the characters somewhat irritating though I've been thinking of trying it again after Changing Channels, to see why Dean was so fixated with Dr Sexy!!

Emergency and Medical Center sound very familiar!!

There's nothing like old school ER, right, I mean, as compared to the new cast. But then maybe that was just because I haven't been following the show that the new doctors/nurses didn't do anything for me.

I used to LOVE ER, but then it seemed to just get too over the top . . . things crashing into the ER, the place in flames . . . I quit watching it after Dr. Green died.

I never have been able to get into Scrubs---too silly . . . and Grey's Anatomy leaves me cold. St. Elsewhere was before my time . . . Chicago Hope was too depressing.

It's sad when a series comes to an end, isn't it, even if you stopped watching it. It's like saying goodbye to an old friend.

I really like House, but it gets my hypochondria going due to all the weird diseases and symptoms, so I can only watch certain episodes (like, diseases I'm not likely to get or ever BE ABLE to get!)

There was this one episode, the doctors thought he was a hypochondriac but it turned out that he was having something real. Not something you should watch I think *HUGS*
