I'm going to watch Robin Hood today. Looking forward to taking my mind off the last 5 minutes of *that* finale.

Not really a fan of Russell Crowe but I like Cate Blanchett and I can't wait to see how she's going to play Marian. I read that the movie is too serious but I love serious. The past versions of Robin Hood were mediocre at most. Prince of Thieves was okay, Alan Rickman was awesome in it, Men In Tights, well the title speaks for itself, and I can't quite remember the TV series except that Michael Praed was pretty hot.

The trailer looked awesome!

I loved the Robin of Sherwood series with Michael Praed. He's by far my favorite Robin Hood. Alan Rickman was the best part of Prince of Thieves. (Side note: Now that's who they should have cast for God, Alan Rickman!) I thought the Robin of Sherwood series was pretty well-written, and quite entertaining, not just for because of the eye candy that was Michael Praed. (Have I mentioned my fetish for long hair?) Errol Flynn was pretty awesome, too, in his movie version. Not really looking forward to this new version, because I really, really dislike Russell Crowe, but I'm interested to learn what you think.

I think when I see Cate Blanchett I'm going to think of Dean thinking of her as Michael lol.

I can't quite remember that series but I do remember Michael Praed. He was hot!! Haven't seen the Errol Flynn version.

I think people in our *coughs* age-group, had at one time or another, a crush on Praed. Hmmm, wonder how he looks like now :)

I liked the movie better when it was called Kingdom of Heaven. Lol. But cheer loudly for my friend Alan! He plays Alan a Dayle ( aka the one of the merry men with a lute) it's his 1st movie and he is one of my fav people in the universe.

As expected, Cate rocks!

I saw the trailer and it... didn't do anything for me. I've seen so many incarnations of Robin Hood that I just can't get excited about it anymore :( IMHO, the best version was Robin of Sherwood with Michael Praed: action, likable characters, fantastic mythology...

It's like with the new remake of The Three Musketeers. Is one really necessary? :(

I've never liked Russel Crowe, so I don't think I'll go see the movie in the theater, even though I think Cate's a goddess.

I have watched Swan Song twice and I have to watch it again, because it's still eating my brain. I love the mystery of those last 5 minutes, though I don't think anyone could look at Dean at the table and think he's really happy. And Sam looks so cold and lonely out there in the dark.

Yes! I have a feeling he'd have no interest in guest-starring in a low-rated American television show, but he could play just about any part convincingly. Someone will just have to write him in as a character in fanfic. :)

The music for RoS was great, most of it I believe was performed by Clannad, a popular Celtic group at the time. It was just haunting.

Thanks for the updated pic of MP! Did you ever see his vampire movie, To Die For 2: Son of Darkness? My favorite movie of his was Writer's Block? The tagline is, "The lover of her dreams has just become a living nightmare." I know it's out on VHS, dunno about DVD, but if you can find it, check it out!

I used to have such a crush on Michael Praed when the TV series was on, all those years ago. He was so pretty! I'm not sure I'm going to go see the new Robin Hood - I feel a bit 'Robined out', lol! I did enjoy Prince of Thieves - mainly for Alan Rickman who, as you've said above, was awesome.

I heard a reviewer on the radio describing the new film as a bit 'po-faced', and lacking the humour of Prince of Thieves. If you do go to see it, I hope you enjoy!

:D

And yay Michael Praed!

I LOVE it so very much!!! I thought it was beyond awesome. I love it when Sir Loxley took Robin in as his son, I love the fight scenes and Cate was really, really wonderful as Marian. My son, who's a big fan of Lost, immediately noted that Little John was in Lost!

I love this version, Julia, and Cate was absolutely amazing as Marian. I don't quite like Russell either but I thought he did Robin very, very well. Awesome acting all around and I enjoyed this version of Robin Hood, which is more a backstory of how Robin and his men got to be what they were.

The last scene of SPN finale broke my heart and I'm still trying to recover from that ...

I still don't get why they thought we would need one more Robin hood film but from what I've read this one is more like Gladiator and the story is a bit different.

I am conflicted when it comes to Russel Crowe. I've liked him in some roles but absolutely hated him in others. Not sure he "appeals" to me. ;)

I'll always love Kevin Costeners Robin Hood. Yup. I did like that one. :)

Oh Suzy, this one was indeed different from the other versions. It was darker for one thing, and its funny moments were few and far between. But it was good nevertheless! I wouldn't say that Crowe had won me over or anything like that, but I think he did a good job as Robin. And Cate was, as always, wonderful.

Do see it for Cate if nothing else!

I will probably see it when the DVD comes out. *lol* Can't resist Robin Hood after all. Think I've seen every version since Errol Flynns Robin Hood. :)
