Jan. 19th, 2012 05:01 pmFinished watching Fringe Season 1 and oh, I love it, so very much. And who would have thought that I'd like another female FBI agent as much as I like Scully?
Peter and Walter together are so adorable, that father-son relationship that is so uniquely theirs, their banters and everything. And when during that one episode Walter suddenly said "Pippin" out loud, I squeed and immediately wanted to watch Denethor's scenes with Pip. He was probably referring to another Pippin ( was he? ) but it felt like a shout-out for Pippin Took to me!
I heard that the show may get the axe soon. As far as Season One went, I thought the show was absolutely brilliant so I'm guessing that it's going to get weirder and more convoluted later on? Like Heroes and Lost or The X Files in its last couple of seasons?
Anyway, I watched the first episode of season 2 last night and I have to say that I was a little disappointed with it. I thought the chemistry between Olivia and Peter was slightly off and while I don't mind Rachel in Suits, I don't think I like her much as the new FBI agent here. And WHAT HAD THEY DONE TO CHARLIE????? I adored that guy *cries*
I really hope that the rest of the season will be better because I really love the story and everyone in it ( as they were in season 1 that is ).

Date: 2012-01-19 09:07 pm (UTC)The only negative thing I have to say is that there are a few too many MOTW episodes and not enough myth-arc episodes for me - which is the opposite of how I felt about X-files. IDK, I just feel that the Fringe myth-arc is really strong and has so much potential and we're just not getting enough of it, while the MOTW episodes are pretty forgettable.
I won't say much as I don't want to spoil you, even though I'm probably only a few episodes ahead!

Date: 2012-01-20 03:12 am (UTC)I adore the MOTW eps as much as the mytharc. Well, maybe the MOTW a bit more, not that the mytharc isn't good ( it's AWESOME ) but just that with the MOTW eps you get the "closures" whereas in the mytharcs you're mostly left guessing and wondering.
My greatest anxiety regarding Fringe is that it'd be like Lost. Lost is brilliant but the storyline per se was so frustrating and I had to give it up after season 2. Though I watched it again when it was in its final season, initially because of Jacob ( Nick!Lucifer!! ) then because since it was the last season, I thought we'd finally get some answers.
You know what I like most about Olivia? Other than her being a no-nonsense, kickass, down to earth girl? It's because she's just the right kind of pretty for a FBI agent. One of my pet peeves is having female cops/special agents who are model-beautiful running around in high-heels chasing the perps lol.

Date: 2012-01-21 08:20 pm (UTC)I actually really enjoyed the Lost myth-arc. I watched the entire series as it aired, every single episode and I never really felt the need for any answers. I quite like open ended non-answers though, where you leave the viewer/reader deciding for themselves what the solution or reason is. I think I'm a minority in that though, as I know most people felt very frustrated with Lost's lack of closure on a lot of stuff.
