Finished watching Fringe Season 1 and oh, I love it, so very much. And who would have thought that I'd like another female FBI agent as much as I like Scully?

Peter and Walter together are so adorable, that father-son relationship that is so uniquely theirs, their banters and everything. And when during that one episode Walter suddenly said "Pippin" out loud, I squeed and immediately wanted to watch Denethor's scenes with Pip. He was probably referring to another Pippin ( was he? ) but it felt like a shout-out for Pippin Took to me!

I heard that the show may get the axe soon. As far as Season One went, I thought the show was absolutely brilliant so I'm guessing that it's going to get weirder and more convoluted later on? Like Heroes and Lost or The X Files in its last couple of seasons?

Anyway, I watched the first episode of season 2 last night and I have to say that I was a little disappointed with it. I thought the chemistry between Olivia and Peter was slightly off and while I don't mind Rachel in Suits, I don't think I like her much as the new FBI agent here. And WHAT HAD THEY DONE TO CHARLIE????? I adored that guy *cries*

I really hope that the rest of the season will be better because I really love the story and everyone in it ( as they were in season 1 that is ).

I loved Fringe S1-S3 but S4 is simply not clicking for me. And considering the falling ratings, I guess I'm not the only one. What they did with it... It's just not MY show anymore. At this moment, I wouldn't be much disappointed or surprised if it got axed.

What did you feel of the new female FBI agent in season 2? I know I said I didn't really mind the actress in Suits, but her presence in Fringe rankled with me, esp now it seems like she's taking Charlie's place.

Well, considering the length of her stay, I wasn't bothered by her...

Thank goodness. I watched 2x02 last night and she was still there. Lol, she's better suited to be a paralegal than an FBI agent.

I'm glad to see people here saying that the show's still good. I love season 1 so freaking much. There wasn't a single episode that I didn't like, I thought each and every one of them was brilliant. And I like EVERYBODY in it, and you know how in an ensemble cast there's bound to be someone that you don't like? I hope the new FBI girl won't be a permanent fixture of the show.

And oh, maybe it's just me, but there were moments when Olivia reminded me of Dean. Peter too, with his wise-cracking remarks. But then, I see Dean/Jensen in almost everyone lol.

I love Fringe ever so much. I think season two is a weak spot overall, but season three made up for any misgivings I had. Keep going! <333

And don't even get me started on Charlie. It's still enough to make me weep.

I think my expectations for season 2 premier was SKY HIGH, what with Olivia going to the other universe in season 1 finale, meeting William Bell ( none other than Nimoy himself! ) so that episode felt kind of flat for me. And I thought Peter was rather stand-offish with Olivia, and that his concern for her wasn't enough, a bit like Sam's reaction to Dean in S4 premier ( and thereafter ). Oh I hope it won't be like that for Peter and Olivia because I love those two together so much! Hee, I'm like Walter when it came to them - get a room already!

Walter Bishop, the slightly mad scientist in the story, is played by John Noble, and oh Liz, his character is WONDERFUL. I kept thinking of him as the slightly mad steward, hence the squee when he said Pippin! Maybe he was refering to some other Pippin but in my head, Pippin will always be *that* Pippin ( and now Shirebound's dog as well ) :)

Btw, you did watch The X-Files, ddin't you? Fringe is a bit like The X-Files, but sans the aliens, and as good as The XF and you probably know how much I love The XF!

And also, the producer of Fringe is JJ Abrams, same as Lost!

Yup, I'm totally trying to get you to watch the show :P

Oh, Peter ad his interactions with his dad is what made me watch this show. Sadly i can't stand the female lead so i usually only watch Peter's part.

Hee, as I only have two Fringe icons, I'm using the one that doesn't show her face here ;P

I LOVE Walter and Peter. IMO those two have some of the best lines in the show. They always made me smile and laugh, even whene they're fighting!

I've just started watching Fringe too ;D I'm half way through season 2, I got through 1 pretty quickly. I totally agree with you re the Peter and Walter dynamic, they are the best thing on it. I do like Olivia too though and the resemblance to early X-files is definitely working for me!

The only negative thing I have to say is that there are a few too many MOTW episodes and not enough myth-arc episodes for me - which is the opposite of how I felt about X-files. IDK, I just feel that the Fringe myth-arc is really strong and has so much potential and we're just not getting enough of it, while the MOTW episodes are pretty forgettable.

I won't say much as I don't want to spoil you, even though I'm probably only a few episodes ahead!

I watched one episode per night for season 1 but the first episode of season 2 was rather a damper that I haven't seen 2x02 yet. Aargh, what they did to Charlie :(( I'd rather have him dead than him being the bad guy :(((

I adore the MOTW eps as much as the mytharc. Well, maybe the MOTW a bit more, not that the mytharc isn't good ( it's AWESOME ) but just that with the MOTW eps you get the "closures" whereas in the mytharcs you're mostly left guessing and wondering.

My greatest anxiety regarding Fringe is that it'd be like Lost. Lost is brilliant but the storyline per se was so frustrating and I had to give it up after season 2. Though I watched it again when it was in its final season, initially because of Jacob ( Nick!Lucifer!! ) then because since it was the last season, I thought we'd finally get some answers.

You know what I like most about Olivia? Other than her being a no-nonsense, kickass, down to earth girl? It's because she's just the right kind of pretty for a FBI agent. One of my pet peeves is having female cops/special agents who are model-beautiful running around in high-heels chasing the perps lol.

I so agree with you about Olivia. I like the fact she's always wearing trouser suits with boring shirts and flats, that she's usually got her hair tied back in a pony tail and that she doesn't wear loads of makeup and lip gloss. Of course when you look like Anna Torv, it doesn't matter what you wear, you're always going to look amazing ;D

I actually really enjoyed the Lost myth-arc. I watched the entire series as it aired, every single episode and I never really felt the need for any answers. I quite like open ended non-answers though, where you leave the viewer/reader deciding for themselves what the solution or reason is. I think I'm a minority in that though, as I know most people felt very frustrated with Lost's lack of closure on a lot of stuff.

That's interesting. I've heard some of even the hardcore Frigne viewers saying that season 1 was a very slow season. But for you to take to it like that...

I've only watched about 4 or so episodes. Its the only show that I haven't been able to 'get into' much for some reason.

Lol, well ... since I've only watced season 1 ( and a couple of episodes from s2 ) I can't really say whether it's slow or not. But yes, I totally love it and I hope the rest of the show would live up to S1!

Heh, even without anything to compare it to, I felt that it was slow (maybe compared to other tv shows first seasons?).
