And the Globe goes to ...
Jan. 17th, 2007 05:25 pmWatching The Golden Globe Awards last night was fun.
Hugh Laurie won the Best Actor in a TV Drama. I was so very happy that he won. I'm a fan, but the other reason that I wanted him to win was that compared to the other nominees I think he would give the most hilarious speech. And he did, right from the start. Oh dear oh dear, he and his Dolce Gabanna acceptance speech, his wonderful crew that smelt of newly-mown grass and him thanking RSL but not remembering why *laughs helplessly* Pity RSL wasn't there, or maybe he was but I didn't see him.
Too bad 'Happy Feet' didn't win. Not that 'Cars' wasn't good - I love 'Cars' - but 'Happy Feet' is special. It's Elijah.
There were some tear-inducing moments too. Charlie Sheen, when he was introducing 'Bobby' and he was pointing out his big brother and asking him to stand up with such obvious pride in his voice. Kyra Sedgwick who won the Best Actress in a TV drama, thanking his "one and only Kevin" and Kevin Bacon with tears in his eyes hugging their daughter. Warren Beatty, when he gave accolades to his wife Annette Bening *big, big sigh*
Reese Wintherspoon looked extremely pretty last night. It seemed just like yesterday when she was sitting next to Ryan Phillipe, beaming happily at each other and now, one year later, they're divorced. She and Ryan was one of the Hollywood couples that I thought would last. I was wrong I guess.
I'm disappointed that Annette Bening didn't win anything. Cate Blanchett and Gillian Anderson too ( omg she looked so beautiful! ). And Matt Damon was not even nominated in his role in 'The Departed'. I've always thought that he's a much better actor than Leo diCaprio. Not as good-looking but way way better acting-wise. But then the diCaprio fans would say the same thing too, or rather, the opposite *g*
One last thing, can anyone tell me what exactly is The Hollywood Foreign Press Association? I was tickled when they introduced its President as someone who was in charge of something ( didn't quite get what was said ) in Australia, Hong Kong and Malaysia!!

Date: 2007-01-17 11:45 am (UTC)I think Matt Damon is highly underrated as an actor because of the way he looks. Right from the days of Good Will Hunting, but I think Leo is a fantastic actor as well. Neither of them appeal looks-wise, but their talent is undeniable.
And the entire Sheen family is close to my heart - just because. Fell in love with Martin over 20 years ago and it hasn't changed.
Gillian Anderson? Have a huge crush on her. I think she's beyond gorgeous.

Date: 2007-01-17 12:47 pm (UTC)Cate Blanchett is so classy and elegant, and Gillian Anderson is a great beauty, isn't she? And Kate Winslett is incredibly beautiful and America Ferrera is adorable. I'm a Matt Damon fan from the beginning. He's so underrated as an actor. I hope he'll someday get the recognition he deserves, just like Elijah will.

Date: 2007-01-18 04:24 am (UTC)And Gillian Anderson has always been one of my favourite actresses. Ever since her Scully days I'm always on the lookout for new movies/TV shows with her in it. 'Bleak House' hasn't come here yet. Annette Bening's 'Mrs Harris' too. I cant wait to see them!
