This ad in the newspapers really had me laughing out loud. I wonder who the person was that first called the herb thus. Must be a shepherd.



It reminds me of one of the lighter moments in elenya54's All That I Had when Rosie bought the herb to help increase Frodo's vitality *g*

He idly picked up the packages on the table. ‘So what are these for? Cow-itch and horny goat weed. I’ve never heard o’ them. Horny goat weed?’ He raised his eyebrows and looked quizzically at Rosie. She was blushing.‘I’ve got an apology to make to you ‘bout them later, Sam. But I think I’d best take tea along to the parlour, don’t you?’ She picked up the tray and was heading out of the door before he could protest. An apology? What for? - Chapter 16, ATIH.

I would have ordered the, uhm, let me see, iced lemon tea, the delicious Vietnamese beef noodle soup and apple cheese crumble for dessert. Along with a slice ( perhaps two ) of that yummy birthday cake!Happy Birthday to you, my dear friend. Luv ya.

I have yet to finish All That I Had, but I remember that one! LOL.

Oh, and I share birthdays with lovely people! Yay. Thank you, Layne.

And my coworkers liked the cake. So much! :D And then someone brought salad and so we had a small feast.

But of course, that would be SO great for us to go together to Secret Recipe. You could have them all!

That ad actually makes me a bit sad because it reminds me of tigers and black rhinos that are being killed because they are being used in the Chinese medicine and just because of that are very close to extinction.

Well, one of the sites I looked at when I was researching horny goat weed for ATIH said that the properties of the plant were discovered after seeing the effects it had on goats, so it probably was a shepherd. :D

And the saddest thing to me is that those things are being used as aphrosidiacs which probably didn't work in most people! If they're used as, say, to cure cancer or AIDS or Alzheimer, than maybe, still NOT okay of course but to use them just for a few minutes of sexual pleasure. Grrr.

Yes, a couple of years ago. It was the first of the novel lenght fics I read. I love it so much, a very beautiful and well written fic!
