I was watching 'Dead Poets Society' just now and I cried. I've watched it before but it was so many years ago, I could hardly remember how the story went. I bought the DVD because I wanted to see Robert Sean Leonard in it, as I've only recently realized that my beloved Wilson was one of the boys in that movie.

RSL was simply briliant in it. The minute he was on screen, I was like, omg, young Wilson! But all thoughts of Wilson went out of my mind, because RSL as the young student Neil Perry was amazing. Well, except when his father said that he was going to be a doctor and I squeed a little bit, because he *did* become one *g*

The movie itself is awesome, Robin Williams was, as always, a great, great actor. One of his best performance, I think. And Ethan Hawke, too. I'm not a fan of Hawke but I love his character Todd Anderson and oh, everybody in it!

I cried when Neil died and couldn't stop when the students gave their farewell to their teacher at the end of the movie. An extremely moving and touching film, one that I would watch over and over again.

when the students gave their farewell to their teacher at the end of the movie

That is truly an awesome scene in an awesome film, and it makes me cry, too. Such inspiration and heart and spirit.

It makes me want to do anything and everything! Robin Williams' character is so, so inspirational and Neil's death is so tragic.

I can't remember the last time I really cried watching a movie. Not just getting sad or moved but all out crying. The guy who played Neil's father? I knew him as the father character in 'The 70's show', he is funny there but I really dislike him in that movie. Great, great acting all around.

It is! In the earlier part of the movie I kept expecting Hugh Laurie to make an appearance *g*

Hi babe. Ready for your big day today? Or tomorrow, I guess, over there.

Yeah, great movie. Though that spanking scene makes me snicker a little bit, heheh.

*big hugs*

I haven't seen this movie in such a long time but I loved it so much when I last watched. You've got me thinking I need to track down a copy and watch again this weekend. I quite liked the character of Knox Overstreet personally :)

Can't help but think of Sam when the boys were learning Latin. I was kind of expecting the teacher to write christo on the board heheh.

Oh do. An absolute classic and worth watching repeatedly. The cinematography was stunning, too. Ahh, Knox Overstreet, I kept confusing him with Dalton. Heh.

The more I think about it, the more I'm determined to do it :)

Thanks for the reminder.

This is one of the most intense and touching movies I've ever seen and I like its message!

Carpe diem (or seize the day), that's what everyone should do!

*lots of hugs*

And the poems are so beautiful, too. I'm not much into poetry myself but the characters in that movie made me believe.

*smooches you*

Oh, I loved that film. And Todd Anderson is the character that I thought was most like me in any film I've ever seen. :)

I thought Todd is the sweetest person, and the most loyal. It was brave of him to lead the farewell to Keating when Keating was leaving. And omg I love it when Keating made him say that poem spontaneously.

*loves you*

I agree with everything you say about Todd - except for the bit about the poem. OMG, I hate that scene. I cannot watch it!!! *whimpers*

*squishes*

Oh Captain, my Captain

I love that line. It also makes me think of Boromir and Aragorn, you know, just before Boromir died, when he called Aragorn his captain :))
