Amazon.com recently emailed me some buying recommendations. They're Mary Renault's and Poppy Z. Brite's books. No mystery there 'coz my most recent purchases were 'The Persian Boy' and 'Drawing Blood'. But I wonder why they recommended 'The Half Blood Prince' to me as well. Nothing against HBP but I didn't buy that book online. Never even searched for any of the other JKR's books either. Hmmm ...

I'm going to watch 'Flight Plan' this evening. I hope it won't disappoint. So far the papers here have only good things to say about it. But then Jodie Foster's movies never disappoint. I love her kick-ass strong and smart characters.

On another note, my ante-natal bloodworks came back as good. Blood sugar normal, Hb level good and the HIV and Hepatitis B are negative. The last 2 never fail to make me nervous everytime.

The last two always make me nervous too. I have mine checked every 6 months. I got one in January that was negative, so I was clean... then for new years I had sworn off sex for a whole year. and when I went to have my test done in july... I was nervous... even though I'd been celibate...

I wish I'm as good as you hon, having them checked twice a year. As it is I only do the tests each time I conceived, they're mandatory. My sister-in-law is a Hep B carrier and her mum died of liver failure secondary to Hep B. Oh yes, you certainly do not get them via sex only :(

Well, as I have done quite a bit of Sex, STD, GLBT etc training and talks and "counseling" myself, I definitly know they aren't just via sex. Actually most STD's can be acquired in other ways... I feel like I can't advise someone to be tested every six months If I don't get tested myself every six months.. ya know?

Hep B is scary... Much scarier to me than HIV in many ways.

To me getting Hep B is bad because there's vaccination for it. It's easily preventable just by getting those 3 shots!

Good to hear that you had good test results.

I saw Flight Plan last week and enjoyed it a lot, though I've seen some not-so-nice reviews for it.

And you should see Serenity! It's fabulous, I just got back.

I won't say, as part of the fun is not knowing who the good guys and bad guys are. He's definitely sexy in it (love that accent!) though I wish he had a bigger part. Peter Saarsgard's also in it. And as you said, Jodie Foster doesn't disappoint.

I wish Sean Bean had a bigger part too. I mean, he simply took that Carson's word at face value! But then, if he were to play a more active role in rescuing the daughter, this wont be a Jodie Foster's movie which was always about a one-woman's show. Oh but she really nailed that role. She's awesome, as always.

Ack, I spelled his name wrong before, it's Sarsgaard. Yeah, he was terrific in Kinsey. He did a really interesting interview in The Advocate about that movie, you can should be able to get to it from here, clicking on the picture of the cover.

Have you seen Shattered Glass? There's no sex in that one but Peter Sarsgaard is just fascinating to watch, and the whole story is really good.

No,I havent seen Shattered Glass. I've never heard of Sarsgaard before and all of a sudden it's his name all over the place :) I think he's in 'The Skeleton Key' too I think. One newspaper reviewer said his character in Flightplan reminded him of John Malkovich.

I forgot to tell you, Peter Sarsgaard plays Roy in the version of Borderlines that goes on in my head. I know he doesn't fit with the physical description Vshendria gave at all, but the ages are right (sort of -- Peter is 10 years older than Lij) and he's got this sort of scary-sexy-indifferent thing going on. *shudders*

Boys Don't Cry is another very good, very disturbing movie he was in.

My Borderlines!Roy is Hugh Grant. I know, Hugh is too nice to play Roy but I cant get him out my head 'coz vshendria already said that Roy looks like Hugh.

How do you imagine Sasha? I imagine him as a younger Rupert Everett until vee said that her Sasha looks like Adrian Brody. I think Adrian would be brilliant as Sasha. Oh dear, how I wish someone is making a movie out of this fic.

I havent seen 'Boys Dont Cry' but I now you make me want to watch it. Will look for it the next time I go to the video store.

And another thing, doesn't Sarsgaard bear more than a fleeting resemblance to Keifer Sutherland?

Hmmm, I guess, but I've never paid much attention to Keifer Sutherland, so to me he just looks like Peter Sarsgaard (and Roy). I know V mentioned Hugh Grant's name a couple times within the fic, but I have trouble imagining him without a British accent and trouble imagining him being that cruel, so I'm sticking to my guy. :)

I hadn't figured out a good Sasha. I've only seen Adrian Brody in The Pianist so it's a little hard for me to think of him in such a different way, but I'll give it a try.

Boys Don't Cry is really good, but I'll warn you now it has some really horrific violence, stuff that even people who don't usually mind violence in movies might find hard to take. And knowing it really happened made it that much worse. I was really affected by it. Hillary Swank was amazing.

I enjoyed Flightplan too. Edge-of-the-seat suspense. Jodie Foster played the mother-under-duress really well. I think she was brilliant in Panic Room as well. And yay! Sean Bean's the GOOD GUY :DD
