[livejournal.com profile] mews1945 picked these.

1) Agatha Christie : The Queen of Crime. I love whodunits and to me she's one of the best crime writers around. Her classic 'Murder on the Orient Express' was actually the first English novel that I read. I was maybe about 13 at that time and the English books that I read before that were the Enid Blytons, Nancy Drews and stuff like that. I love the way she wrote, her characters, and the twists that were inevitably present in each one of her books. Her Hercule Poirot and Miss Marple are among the best-loved characters in the world of crime literature. I have the whole Agatha Christie collection and I still read them from time to time. My greatest regret is that she's no longer around and even though I like PD James very much ( her books are the closest to Christie's in terms of atmosphere ), nobody can hold a candle against AC.

2) Casey/Zeke, why do you love them? I initially had no idea who Casey and Zeke were but these pairing kept turning up on my flist, and curious, I ventured to read [livejournal.com profile] abundantlyqueer's short Faculty ficlet. It was very well-written, as are all of AQ's fics are, and I started reading other Faculty fics but I still couldn't picture Casey and Zeke in my mind. Curious, I bought 'The Faculty' DVD and the minute Casey got poled, I was hooked. And I also thought that Elijah was extremely beautiful as Casey and he did a damn good job playing the geeky kid that eventually saved the world with his inner strength and steely determination. I didn't get the slashy vibes between Casey and Zeke from the movie, though. That was all from the fics that I read. Then I discovered 'Borderlines' and 'Birthright' and I love the characterizations of them so much, they just about sealed my love for Casey/Zeke. And oh, the lovely, lovely Caseys and Zekes from [livejournal.com profile] mews1945, [livejournal.com profile] honeyandvinegar and I could never forget that fic [livejournal.com profile] lbilover wrote where Casey went to Stanford.

Stanford! That, and the Jersey Devil at Pine Barrens, that's two cross-overs just begging to be written. *glances at [livejournal.com profile] lbilover*

3) James Herriot - One of my favourite authors. Herriot was a veterinary surgeon practicing in the rural areas of Yorkshire in the 1930's. His books are part autobiography and part fiction, and they're mostly tales of him dealing with animals and their owners as well as tales from his personal life, about his eccentric employer, Siegfried who kind of remind me a bit of House and of Tristan, Siegfried's funny younger brother, a veterinary student.'If Only They Could talk' - is his first novel, and his telling of his work and personal experiences are vivid and often hilarious. I highly recommend this author especially to animal lovers.

4) Josh Hartnett : Well, he's Zeke! No matter what characters he plays, he'll always be Zeke to me. The Zeke that I fell in love with because he loves Casey so much and will go to all extent to protect Casey. And I love his voice! That baritone never fails to make me tingle me all over. Besides 'The Faculty' I also adore him in 'Wicker Park' and '40 Days and 40 Nights'.

5) Supernatural : O-kaay. What can I say about this show that hasn't been said elsewhere. I had been aware of the show for quite some time, first from the teasers they showed on TV, then from the many, many SPN-related entries on my flist. I wanted to watch it then but my husband and the kids refused to watch it with me, the teasers are pretty scary I guess and I was so not going to watch it alone. Then I said the magic word - The X-Files - and that perked my husband's interest, because the whole family loves The X-Files. So I watched the pilot episode, which was actually a re-run, and I liked the story. I loved the premise of the story and I liked the interactions between Sam and Dean. But still I wasn't that rabid about it. Not yet anyway. It was the fanfics that did it. Those lovely written words are the ones that peeled the layers off the saga of the Winchesters, made me see Dean in a new light. Before that I found Dean irritating and shallow, God, I hated that ever-present smirk on his face but all that changed after I read all those fics, and as the series progressed I was hooked deeper and deeper into the show. I love the family dynamics between the three Winchesters, John, Sam and Dean. John with his obsession with the demon that killed his wife, Sam for his desire for normalcy and Dean, oh Dean, the obedient soldier, he only wants his family together and 'Keep Sammy Safe', his mantra since he was four, and he's willing to forgo his own needs to do that.

It was much later before I discovered the J2 love. They're good men; crazy, goofy Jared and sweet, shy Jensen, what's not to love about them? And they're so great to and with each other! The hugs and the touches and the looks they gave each other, in interviews and in photoshoots and in the candid shots. Guh. They're totally straight, I suppose, but hey, having fantasies about Jared and Jensen together won't hurt them!

So, yeah, it's the combination of the show, the characters, the fics and the actors themselves are what make me obsessed with Supernatural. For the past seven months, Supernatural has totally and utterly messed up with my life.

6) Daphne Du Maurier : Another one of my favourite author. I read 'Rebecca' when I was 14 and I love that story to death. The first two lines of the story will always be imprinted on my mind.

“Last night I dreamt I went to Manderley again. It seemed to me I stood by the iron gate leading to the drive and for a while I could not enter, for the way was barred to me”.

I thought the heroine of the book, who remained nameless until the end, was awesomely romantic. I read 'Gone With The Wind' right after that and I guess 'Rebecca' spoilt me for Scarlett whom I thought rather irritating ( my apologies to Scarlett's fans ) though I like Melanie well enough. But I digress.

I love her other books as well, all mostly set in Cornwall - 'The Jamaica Inn', and 'My Cousin Rachel' are among my favourites.

7) Most reality tv shows –which ones are your favorites? 'The Amazing Race'! I like 'The Apprentice' and 'Survivors', too, but TAR will always be the no.1 reality TV show for me. I love Phil, I love the concept of the programme and I love it that they won the Emmy Award five times in a row!! But mostly I love the racers themselves, the way they interact with their partner ( spouse, sibling, bf/gf, best buddy etc ), the fights and the arguments, the love. Relationships strengthened and relationships wrecked, it's full of drama from the first episode right down to the finale. And since it's a race around the world, the destinations are part of the excitement of the show because they're kept secret until the episodes are aired. They've been to my country three times. Much excitement there but my favourite episode was when they went to New Zealand and Phil, the host, mentioned hobbits and the Lord of The Ring!

And now I need to go and update my interest list. My God, neither Jared nor Jensen is there :-0

Thank you, sweetie, I loved reading all your answers. Since we share the Casey/Zeke love, that's why I wanted to know what you liked about them. And I loved all you had to say about Supernatural. I'm not a slashfan when it comes to the guys. I love their brotherly relationship so much, and the family devotion between them, and they really are lovely to look at.
