private entries

When I post an entry marked 'Private' no one else can read it except myself, right? I was lurking around my flist's friends' entries and to my horror I found my private-marked entries there. Can you guys read them or is it only me that can see them? Nothing provocotive in them it's just that I've been doing a lot of these quizzez lately and I've posted them on my journal for my eyes only.

And another thing. I just found out today that some of the comments made to my comments have not been send to my email. Is that a common occurance in LJ?

No one but you, can read private entries. You're just able to see them on your friends' flist because you are logged in. If you log off and go to your friends flist, you won't be able to see the private entry either.

Phew. What a relief. I was a bit worried there 'coz I would have been flooding my flist's friends's entries with quizzes that did NOT go under the lj-cut too!

As for the commenst trouble...that sometimes happends. A good way to keep track it to go to: http://www.livejournal.com/tools/recent_comments.bml

There you can see the latest received comments you've gotten.

Unfortunatly it only seems to work if it's comments posted in your LJ.

You're right. I've just been checking that site and they dont update the comments posted on other people's lj.

It seems there was a general problem with email notification of comments last night. I didn't get notified either for a few hours. All okay now though, I think.

Hee, I was also scared of this fact at first when I read a private post on anothers friends page. I forget sometimes that it's only me who sees it and I have a little crazy fit until I'm sure it's the eye on the post.

It's so easy to post wrong too. I have also posted for friends when I meant to post it private. I changed it of course when I saw it and can only hope no one else saw my nonsense.

As for the comments, yes that has happened to me on occasion. More than once and I only saw it when I happened to go back and read the posts I commented too. As for why it happened I have no idea. Can be LJ or maybe it's my email function. ??? *clueless*

I have a little crazy fit

lol crazy fit is the right phrase indeed. Along with the mile-long quizzez I've also posted my unfinished fics privately too. Stuff that I dont want to save under my word.doc because the husband might read them and he'll be having crazy fits of his own, reading about Orli and Elijah *grins*

The notification problem is the LJ, not the email malfunctioning. ( Read comments above )
