i_o_r_h_a_e_l had asked for a Paley drabble but this little vignette came out instead. Jared and Jensen during the Green Beret's presentation at the Chicago Con.

Jared knows Jensen. Sometimes he thinks that he knows Jensen better than he knows himself. And right now, he could sense that Jensen is holding back his tears, holding his emotions in check. Not that he is in much better shape himself. The honour that is given to 'Supernatural', to them, is too much to contemplate.

The Sergeant from Baghdad is still talking and the fans are screaming themselves hoarse. Jared holds the letter and the coin in his hands reverently. He sees Jensen doing the same. Jared can't help but remember Jensen's breakdown after they filmed that scene in the zombie episode. Jensen had held himself tightly in back then, until Kim yelled cut and he just took himself off, walking away from Jared and the crew. Which is exactly what he is doing right now, holding himself in. Only now there is no director to say cut, and there is no way Jensen could walk out of the room right then, away from their fans.

So Jared watches. And tries to convey as much love as possible every time he catches Jensen's eyes.

The touches and the kisses and the loving will have to come later.

Sweetheart, I meant to read this earlier, but RL intervened and I was away from home most of the day. And I forgot it until just now, so I came back quick to read it. The ficlet is lovely, full of emotion and gives me a lump in the throat and tears in my eyes. And I'm so glad you put the video here too. I'll definitely put this on tomorrows list of recs. I'd love to imagine Jared talking ( more than talking perhaps :DD )to Jensen after the event, the way he did when Jensen broke down after the heart-to-heart talk Sam and Dean had in 'Children Shouldn't Play With Dead Things'.

Why don't you write more, Layne? It's just so full, full of emotions, Jared's emotions :), I can almost see his eyes soften trained toward Jensen, trying to soothe him in a way he can at the moment. *clutches Jensen and Jared* Oh Jensen definitely needs more comfort if only he could get that right away. *sniffs*

Which is exactly what he is doing right now, holding himself in.

That's what he's good in doing, right, including how he always manages to hold himself tightly whenever Jared hugs him.

My first impression was Jared wasn't quite sure what to do or say, and I thought he was defering to Jensen ( for a change ), but Jensen looked pretty choked up to me, so :D
