A christmas query

Jensen spent Thanksgiving with Jared and his parents. And apparently Jared is now going to spend Christmas with Jensen and his family in Dallas *flailswhimperssquees*

But general squeeing aside, what exactly are the traditions in the States ( or anywhere else for that matter ) in celebrating Christmas? I thought the children would go back to their family home for the festivities? And if you're married, do you take turns to spend time with your respective families?

There are as many different Christmas traditions as there are families in the states. Everyone has their own special things they love to do, special meals, parties. Our family all gather at our house on Christmas Eve for a big party with lots of food and we open gifts. On Christmas day, we all have different places to go. Some go to their In-laws homes, some to friends places. I think most people want to be with those they love most, and for Jensen and Jared, that seems to include each other.

Heheh, I see a pattern emerging here - Thanksgiving with the Padaleckis, Christmas with the Ackles *siiighs ... *

Generally, with the Eids over here, married couple took turns to be with their respective families, and it's kind of a must for the unmarried ones to be with their own families. As for the Chinese during their Chinese New Year, if you're married, you must go back to the husband's side of the family for the big family reunion dinner.

I really have been out of it lately - what with the vacation and no internet for the past few days. I haven't been to any of the comms for quite some time already. Hee, they really do sound like a married couple. "We'll go see your family for Thanksgiving, and mine for Christmas, but next year we're gonna have to do it the other way, so the in-laws don't get upset. Hey, we bringin' the kids, or leaving 'em with the grandparents?"
