I'm buying new face powder tomorrow and can't quite decide which brand to buy. I don't really stick to any one brand of skincare / makeup, I got bored looking at the same packagings after a while.

So, any suggestion / recommendation on what brand I should try next? What brand are you using right now? Do you have any brands that you swear by?

I'm using this right now, and it's good for a few more days. I don't really use much make-up, just some powder foundation and a dash of lipstick on workdays, and I'm good to go. I put in more effort on non-working days, but as much as I'd like to, I don't do eye makeup. Never could manage to apply them properly - the eyeshadows, and the eyeliners ( hopeless! ) and the mascara ( my eyes are kind of allergic to it, and it never fail to smudge my glasses ).

So, any recommendations for face powder, with or without foundation?

oh I am no help. I don't use foundations. I use a little dusting of powder on my nose and the bridge of nose to smooth out shine. I use moisturizors, eyeliner and pencil (wet qtips really smooth out booboos great, I need to use them every day), blush (love Clinique's mousse blush, it goes a long way), lipstick, and mascara, which my eyes are sensitive to also but I love maybelline Define-A-lash.

Oh you use the whole makeup thing then, except face powder! Your complexion must be good *is envious* My face would look kind of dull if I go without it.

What brand moisturiser do you use?

I'm afraid I almost never wear makeup - when I do, it's Clinique (my sister used to sell it, and I liked it when she got me samples).

I can't use any powder or foundation or my skin will break out even worse than it does now. I've been battling oily, troubled skin all my life.

I like Clinique. I've used it before. Hmm, maybe I should try that brand again, but from another line. And I love getting samples. I wish I have a sister working at a beauty company too!

I have heard Shiseido is good. I don't wear make up but i use Clinique products

Yes, face powder would clog up the pores and make matters worse if you have oily skin. You've tried the brands that grandly claim that their products "do not clog pores" then?

Uh, I buy the cheapest stuff I can find. I'm helpful.

She's a PhD chemist now (her dissertation was on something to do with G-protien coupling - physical organic chemistry with an interest in molecular biology), but it was nice while it lasted.

I like L'Oreal mineral powders in the mosaic compacts. They're really light and you can barely tell you're wearing them, but they add just a touch of color.

Nope. Just sun tan cream of day and powder, lol

I usually get a cheaper brand of foundation/concealer, like Cover Girl. My fave has been a compact that combines a cream foun. with a powder one... basically cream, lol, but it's very soft and nice on the skin. I use it mostly to help my face look better--always had probs with acne!

Now CASEY, ugh, he just buys the WAY cheap stuff and looks like a street-corner ho. ;)

We used to have Cover Girl sold here before but for some reasons it had been taken off the local market a few years back. No idea why. I remember that it was a popular brand with the younger each group.

I love the powder-foundation combination, too! It saves time, for one thing.

Zeke should start buying Casey the better stuff. He wouldn't want Case's porcelain-smooth complexion spoilt, would he?

I love using products like that. God, I hate it when makeup make your face look all caked-up or something.

We do have L'Oreal here but not that mineral powders that you mentioned. Not that I know of anyway. I'll ask their beauty consultants tomorrow about it. It sounds intersting, esp the barely-there part.

mish mash. I love Clinique moisture surge and moisture plus but its pricy and haven't gotten any for a while. I think I'm deserving of a binge buy.
I usually use neutrogena Anti=wrinkle cream (the retinol one) that's in a tube. I like it for night and day except they put SPF 15 for day and SPFs can be hard on my skin for all the time.
I love L'Oreal Nutrissme and add a dash of OilofOlay on top.
I use Clearasil on my nose and powder it. The powder I use is Bare Naturale from L'Oreal.
Nothing I use is heavy and its subtle.
My biggest thing I need help on is undereye. I get circles from lack of sleep and puffy sometimes. Got any suggestions??

Hey, as long as it works! I've known people whose skin reacted horribly to the more expensive stuff. Eeeps.

I'm using Nivea Visage Anti-Wrinkle eye cream right now. I've used many brands but none really did what they claimed to do. Nothing like a good night's sleep to banish the dreaded circles, and you're stuck with them if it's hereditary :(

A lot of people are saying that the Clinique brand is good. I used the whole range from that brand once and I love it, but I like trying new brands even more!

Ooo, makeup talk!!!

I've been using MAC loose powder---can't remember the name of it but I believe they only have one type---and I really, really love it. Before that, I used Clinique loose powder and liked that one a lot, too.

I firmly believe that many drugstore brands are just as good as expensive brands, and I've also been using CoverGirl pressed powder, but I see you can't get that where you are. I don't use many powders/foundations from the drugstore, however, simply because I can never seem to get the right color match. Most seem too peach/pink/beige/etc. And nowadays? L'Oreal foundation is nearly $12.00 a bottle, and for less than half again that much I can get Clinique!

I can talk about make-up for hours, though I wear much less nowadays than I did when I was in my 20s. I piled it on back then. :)

P.S. L'Oreal's TruBlend blush is awesome.

I'm no help at all! I rarely wear make-up these days ... just a bit of eyeliner...:-) And my eyeliner is just plain black. Nothing fancy. And I'm sure I don't apply anything correctly...but good luck! *hugs*

I dont use powder, I find it unnecessary for me, but I do sometimes use foundation (Presciptives to match my skin exactly, highly recommended) or if I'm in a hurry and need to cover up I use Benefit's Some Kind of Gorgeous which is a 'foundation faker'. I wasnt sure how to describe it so I looked it up. The blub I found says: "What it is:A sheer, oil-free, cream-to-powder complexion perfector. What it is formulated to do:This lightweight, translucent, foundation-like product smoothes out imperfections and evens skin tone with a silky, smooth finish that's super natural and super gorgeous. What else you need to know: Comes in one shade that's perfect for most skin tones" so sounds good doesnt it?

I use this: http://www.bareescentuals.com/

It's kind of expensive but it wears like powder (and covers like foundation).

Clinique for me. Lip gloss and facial soap. And Aveda for shampoo because Clinique discontinued my favorite. I hate when that happens!

I absolutely love make-up, I never get out without a bit of eyeshadow and mascara on my eyes. But I don't use face powder or foundation very often, just on occasion (by "Rimmel" or "Deborah", but I don't know if those brands are known outside Italy).

Have a nice Sunday, Lin sayang!
