'In My Time of Dying' is a very intense, highly awaited and anticipated premier of season 2 after the mother of a cliffhanger at the end of the season 1 finale. And Kripke delivered, and more. There are so many awesome scenes from this episode. I love that part where Sam and John argued, and Dean swayze'd the glass onto the floor, smashing it to pieces. I also like this scene which [livejournal.com profile] willowese has chosen for her number 8. But this scene? This scene breaks my heart.

This is when Dean flatlines. There's a flurry of activities among the medical staff during Sam's and John's argument, and Dean doubles up in pain and starts to flicker. Sam rushes off to Dean's room where he sees Dean being resuscitated.

All clear ... Charging ... Still no pulse ... Lets go again ...

Dean being defibrillated. Side note : See that perfect arch that Jensen executes? Man, he's so good at that. Reminds me of something else that has nothing to do with getting defibrillated.

And this is Sam watching Dean. That expression on his face totally breaks me. The agony, the despair. I think Sam at this time seriously thinks that this is when Dean's going to leave him. The way Sam twitches and jerks, looking on helplessly. I cry for him each time I watch this scene. Each and every time.

Spirit!Dean, looking at Sam before he looks at himself on the hospital bed. I think he's galvanized into action at the hurt on Sam's face more than at himself at death door. He's supposed to protect Sam from any hurt, and he does just that.

Jared did a great, great job here. One of his finest moments, and IMO better than the crying that he did after he shot Madison, and the dying scenes in 'Mystery Spot' and 'No Rest For The Wicked'. Love, love this.

I love this scene! The way they show it - it's perfect (the whole ep was perfect) - the connection of Dean's soul (that we see as Dean) to his body, the pain when something went wrong, all medical attention (medic people said they do it very natural - all those machines and Jensen's arching) and i agree - it was one of the finest Jared's scene. He was just perfect - very natural. I can't compare he's crying in the end of 316 cos i love that scene a lot but this one was def better then his cry before he shot Maddy.

But nothing beats Dean crying though!! But really, they have their own way of grieving. Dean's more quiet - silently tearing up, while Sam would be sobbing his heart out, except for this scene. It's like he's sobbing inwards instead.

Yes, of course. And it's interesting too cos Dean's way more subtle cos he's like big brother can't show his feeling to Sam. And Sam's way is the way of little brother who can cry and doesn' be shy of it. And in that scene Sam is almost big brother cos he thinks he looses Dean... it's so natural and so good acted!

That big brother little brother way of crying is a good point indeed. I haven't thought of that before! Dean's so used to taking care of others that it's reflected in the way he cries, as opposed to Sam who's used to being taken care of!

Yep. Dean used to take care of Sam and he used to swallow all his feelings inside. Sometimes i wish we'd see a scene where he'd can't do that anymore... that his inner feeling would break out of him as flood... i don't know if we ever see it but for me it'в be good to watch and it'd be relieving for Dean...
