I'm completely bowled over by this new fic by candle_beck.

And I Have Asked to Be Where No Storms Come

Gritty and jagged, this is Sam at seventeen, his last year at school, the year before he leaves for college. This is Sam grappling with his hatred for his father, the way they are forced to live, the way his brother is their father's obedient little soldier.

Dark and emotive, this is John dealing with his two sons, one the good son, the other rebellious, in the only way he knows how.

Hurty yet hopeful, this is Dean trying his darnest to hold his family together, always the peacemaker, never giving up hope where his father and his brother are concerned, most of the time at his own cost. And Sam, always looking after Sam.
