Watching a season 3 episode.

I watched 'The Kids Are Alright' over the weekend and wow. It was super-scary! I had goosebumps all over and that had not happened for quite some time already. It's right up there with 'Pilot', 'Bloody Mary', 'Provenance' and 'The Long Distance Call' in its chill quotient. And to think that I only watch it now!! I blame 'The Magnificent 7' for that. I was so disappointed with that ep that I didn't bother to dl the ep that came right after it. But it was real GOOD!!! vshendria, your choice for your presentation is absolutely spot-on.

Anyways. Ruby. Katie Cassidy to be more precise. God, I really do miss her as the snarky, sneering, kick-ass she-demon. Anyone else here miss KC I wonder? Or do you prefer GC as Ruby?

I believe they purposely leave the conclusion to that opened, in case they want to explore that angle later on. I mean, if they really wanted to confirm it, Dean could have asked for a paternity test!

I'm not a big fan of Ruby (I actually find her kind of annoying), but at least Ruby 1, 3, and 4 can act. I have to say that my favorite Ruby is definitely HouseKeeper Ruby. If Sam wasn't sleeping with Ruby, Housekeeper Ruby is definitely the one they should stick with.

Ruby 2 seems kind of forced, like her timing is always a little bit off.

And I noticed the 'ben is dean's kid' thing going on, and not to rain on the parade, but Kripke didn't leave the answer to that open, I was AT the con he said it at, but he said, 100% Ben is NOT Dean's kid, now if he would ever get back with Lisa, he could be his step-dad, but no, no Winchester blood running through those veins :)

I liked Ruby the moment her eyes went demon!black. Katie was a little one-dimensional in her portrayal for a while there (the whiny, angry chick thing, you know?) but I LOVED the way she and Dean went at each other in Malleus Maleficarum and again in No Rest for the Wicked. The truth is, I feel like her character ran its course in S3 so we didn't need her back in S4 at all.

If I had to choose, though, I'd take ANY of your choices over Brunette needy!Ruby. I honestly cannot figure out how her character went from "Who's gonna take me on" to "Oh, Sam, you have to beleeeeve I'm good"... *eyeroll* I mean, seriously... Who's buying this? I don't get it at all! And, what? A whole bunch of people are on the yay!Ruby campaign all of a sudden because Sammy fucked her? How does that even make sense? *lol*

Oh, and Ben is adorable, isn't he? :D

... Sorry.. As you can see, I kind of feel strongly about this. :P

I don't get the new Ruby either. I can't imagine the old Ruby walking around in her underwear looking at Sam the way the new Ruby does. The old Ruby is mean and I like to keep her that way!!

That was a very scary episode. The mom of the scary girl was really good in her performance, too. The changeling kids real faces reminded me of this book about fish I checked out from the school library when I was nine, and I opened the book at random on the pages with close up lamprey pictures, and I was too afraid to look at the book again after that! LOL

I screamed ( I truly did ) when I first saw the changeling's real face for the first time. And when I saw that bruise at the back of the mum's neck, I could feel the hair at the of my neck raising. Eeeps. It's always extra creepy when it's about the kids - Provenance, Lilith ( esp the Lilith in Jus In Belo ).

I didn't like Ruby 1.0 at all till I saw Ruby 2.0, and now I want Katie Cassidy back. I voted for secretary!Ruby. I'm curious as to her real agenda, and she might still have some information or training Sam can use, so she can stick around for a while at least. But I was kind of hoping we'd have a different Ruby every episode she's in...kind of like they used to do on Joan of Arcadia, where Joan never knew when the stranger she was talking to was God till he was ready for her to know.

I can see it now. Everyone who looks too long at Sam, or talks to him...every waitress, bartender, even some of the guys, instead of "Christo!" he's going to be saying, "Ruby? Is that you?"

"What's your problem, guy? Do I look like a Ruby to you?" responds the 6'6" biker.

"Oh, um, sorry, my bad," Sam says, slowly backing away.

And with The Kids Are Alright, it was so much better than The Magnificent Seven! And I agree, Ben is Dean's kid. Lisa said she did a paternity test and it's not Dean's kid, but she could have been lying, to protect all of them from getting hurt. Let's face it, Dean's really not the settling down type, not when there's still demons and monsters out there to deal with, and if the demons knew he had a kid, it would just be more leverage against him. Probably even more than threatening Sam, because at least Sam can defend himself a lot better against evil than little Ben. I'm not saying he isn't a kick-ass, tough kid, but he is just an 8-year-old (?right?) kid.

I've been wondering - is there really female and male demons? I mean, we see them possessing male and female bodies, but the demons per se, are they sexless or not, I wonder? Hee hee, what if that 6'6" is Ruby, and he/she wants to have sex with Sam lol.

I clicked all of them except for the last one. I like Ruby no matter who plays her. For once, we have a demon that's not just bad. I liked Katie Cassidy and even though Genevieve Cortese isn't as good an actress, I still like her.

But the best Ruby? Definitely the cleaning lady!

I don't think GC is a bad actress, but I do think she's poorly written. Who knows, maybe she could be just as bitchy as KC if given the chance!!! And I can't imagine Dean hitting GC!Ruby the way he hit KC!Ruby in 'No Rest For The Wicked'.

I really despise Ruby as a character in general, so I don't have a preference, I just wish she'd bugger off. But if I had to choose one, maid!Ruby FTW! She was awesome.

But being serious for a sec, I'd pick KC, just because GC can't act and messed up the character even further.

I don't like the current Ruby, but I'm going to give GC the benefit of the doubt and say that the character was poorly written. I thought she did quite well when we first saw her at the motel room and we still didn't know her as Ruby!

I thought the secretary!ruby really showed new!ruby up last episode. Its such a shame there is such a glaring difference in the character. I find it hard to believe they are the same demon. And yes, I miss old ruby.

I'm a fan of snarky, bitchy Ruby. I haven't liked new!Ruby at all this season...she seems a bit too "scary" for me. Like that scene where she saved Sam and gave the demon the "omg-you're-about-to-hurt-me" scared look? I was like WTF? She looked like she was punking out.

That's not to say that GC is not a good actress; I'm sure she is. I just don't like her in this role.

Have you seen this http://www.supernatural.tv/reviews/s4reviews/summer.htm yet? It's a recap of I Know What You Did...with some interesting thoughts on Ruby, mainly the idea that she deliberately changed her approach to Sam, including some of her personality, as an effort to get him to trust her and work with her. This would have happened between the time he insisted she let the secretary go, and when she showed up in her "recycled" body as Genevieve Cortese. It's definitely food for thought!

That's quite a thought-provoking article. It did fleetingly cross my mind about Ruby changing her personality on purpose in order to get to Sam, since the old Ruby failed to do so. I just wish that she didn't come across as "clinging" and "needy", like she needed to be taken care of or something. That I do not like, and I don't know whether it's just GC's acting, or she was directed to be that way.

There's just something about kids that makes them extra creepy, even without the freaky special-effects look. Remember the twins in 4.02? Chilling! And the girl in 'Provenance', too. And Lilith of course.

I really liked Katie Cassidy last season. I thought she did a great job. Although I confess to wondering what Kristen Bell would have done with it, since supposedly she was offered the role but turned it down to accept the one on Heroes, instead.

But I cannot stand what the new Ruby actress is doing with the role, and I really hope she isn't around too much longer.

I wonder whether there's any way for them to bring back Katie Cassidy. The body was not that mangled, if I remember correctly ... I can't think of any way myself but the writers could do anything if they really wanted it. I mean, if they could bring back Bobby Ewing from the dead lol.
