4.18, what's the title again?
Apr. 4th, 2009 12:44 amI was laughing like a loon the first five minutes or so but then, I was like, hey, were they laughing at us? And boy, was I dreading to read the reviews but read them I did, and funnily enough it makes me feel much better about that episode, reading other people's thoughts and perspectives, that makes me see that episode in a new light, that maybe they're actually laughing with us after all. And at.
And I really, really need a transcript right now. What was it about that Archangel by the prophet's side? I didn't quite get that. Because from what I heard ( or didn't hear as the case may be ), I came to the conclusion that Dean was the Archangel *waves to Dian* because he was the one beside Chuck there. And what does the reference to Luke mean?
Lilith. Now she was SCARY. And I really thought she was Bela at first!
Hubby's away for the night. I'm not quite sure whether I want him to watch this episode or not, because of, you know, that Sam/Dean thing. My boys didn't get that I'm sure ( they both love the episode btw ) but hubby probably will and he doesn't have an inkling about Wincest *bites nails*

Date: 2009-04-03 05:06 pm (UTC)As for the whole "wincest comment" thing I found it hilarious. Now, I am not writing or reading wincest (although I'm thinking about going there as well... soonish), so I may not be the one this was addressed at, and I'm not sure how I'd feel if they made RPS comment. But still, I had the feeling it was with a wink. I think Kripke knows what "interactive" means, and that's what he's doing here, a dialog with internets. It makes him kind of awesome. Plus all the pokes at the show itself, and its creators? I liked it. :)

Date: 2009-04-03 07:00 pm (UTC)I still thought it was funny but I can see why lots of other fans don't see it that way.
You know what got me? They really are going to make it that simple - they totally broke Dean but an angel comes and tells him to stop whining and THAT'S IT. Lazy frigging writing - if you want to break him then put him back together properly, not that nonsense.
Lazy, lazy writing. Still thought it was funny though!

Date: 2009-04-03 07:02 pm (UTC)Luke wrote the third book of the Gospel of the New Testament, so I guess he's kind of Chuck-like. That line made me laugh like a loon, and I want to know about all the dysfunctional, neurotic prophets that Cas has had to deal with over the years. I'm sure Isaiah was probably crazy as a loon!
No, Dean's not an archangel, which is good. I prefer him as Dean.

Date: 2009-04-03 11:29 pm (UTC)That, and also I don't think there's ever a TV show that has poked fun at their own writers/fans like that ( can't imagine, say, Heroes or Lost making such episodes ). They were taking a HUGE gamble there though, I think. Heck, I was thinking that half the fandom would be up in arms about it, or quit SPN altogether. But the reviews that I've dared read are good, or at least not as scathing as I thought they would be.

You hated It's A Terrible Life then? I actually love it, very much, well, maybe not so much the last few minutes. But I'm sure when they had their writers' meetings they discussed the various ways they could do it and maybe that was the best story they had, IDK.
Did your husband watch it with you? Did he say anything about Sam slash Dean? Mine wanted to watch it this morning but I told him he probably wouldn't like it, but when he does I think I'm going to distract him or something when the episode comes to *that* part.

Date: 2009-04-03 11:49 pm (UTC)Never let it be said that Kripke doesn't take risks. The man has no problem doing this or killing people left and right which really worries me about a certain character. :(

Date: 2009-04-04 08:57 am (UTC)I was disappointed I was right. You can't break someone that badly then say, 'stop whining,' and it's all okay. You'd be shot down in flames if you did that in a fic. I think the writers simply couldn't be bothered to do it properly and justified it with, 'it's not that kind of show.' In that case, don't break him!
I watched last nights with The Husband (I don't let my kids anywhere near it any more) he thought it was funny. But then he knows all about slash, knows I read and write it -appreciated the benefits it's that has brought - and thinks it's all rather funny.

Date: 2009-04-04 01:21 pm (UTC)A long time ago I thought that perhaps if humans could tap into demonic powers on some level, as the show's witches and Sam do, then humans should also be able to tap into angelic powers in some fashion. So I wondered if Dean might have to do that with an angel's help in order to either "correct" Sam's path or else to actually become the agent that prevents apocalypse, but he would still be human Dean using the powers like tools. We'll see. There certainly is recorded lore for humans doing so, and there are new-agey people today who believe in it.
I never thought the Jesus idea was credible and seemed to be started originally by someone who was pranking the fans on TWOP. It would be akin to making Dean be Mohamed or some such and that just won't fly with viewers on any level.
It'll certainly be fun to see what does happen, but I think it will continue into next season. :-0
I enjoy having these thinky discussions with smart ol' you. *hugs*

Date: 2009-04-05 12:16 am (UTC)Btw, I'm still wondering why Castiel thought he could talk to Dean direct in 'Lazarus Rising'. Maybe when Mary was trying to protect her firstborn, like you said, she tapped into the angelic powers of some sort, hence her nightly "Angels are always looking after you," to wee!Dean. But then, why didn't she do the same thing with Sam? Could it be she had gotten complacent? Or maybe she could do it only once. Or maybe there was simply no way she could get out of the deal, maybe she didn't mean to have a second child or something.

Date: 2009-04-05 01:13 am (UTC)After discussing it with friends I went for the latter. But I could see why some people hate it, I haven't read those posts but I got the gist of what they're saying from other people's comments and posts.
And yeah, only four more episodes. Thank goodness for season 5.
And you're going to meet the boys at Asylum, aren't you? LUCKY, LUCKY you!!!

Date: 2009-04-05 07:45 pm (UTC)I could never hate the ep, I thought once we got into the main storyline it was a really good new road for the arc to follow :))
I do wander what the main issue for season 5 will be, will Sam have turned dark-side and Dean has to bring him back or will we return to the easier life of the first series? I can't see that happening or I think people will feel let down, so I suppose Sam has to turn evil :((
yay I get to see the boys soon, I just hope I'm one of the lucky ones to get the photo-ops!!

Date: 2009-04-06 07:10 am (UTC)But of course! And I could totally see Jensen giving Jared a hard time on purpose ( do this, don't do that, no, no, not THAT! ) when he's directing and vice versa :D
Hey, maybe you can ask them this question at Asylum - whether or not they have any plans on directing an episode of SPN. Put the idea in their heads so to speak ( if it wasn't there already that is ).
My biggest fear is to lose one of the boys
Which I think is why ending SPN after season 5 is a good idea, you know, before the boys really do quit *horrors*

Date: 2009-04-06 07:19 am (UTC)And this is stuck to my mind :
we play in their sandbox all the time. Last night's ep, the first ten minutes? Was them playing in ours. That's right, The first ten minutes? The writers were giving us their RPF. About us. There's an Irish proverb I really like: any man who cannot laugh at himself should be given a mirror. This? Was our mirror.
I pretty much love this episode now, and I think it's very brave of Kripke for taking the gamble to do it!

Date: 2009-04-06 07:57 am (UTC)OOT, Muhammad, when the first time met Gabriel, he'd got a very, very, very bad fever. He's sick. And so was Chuck. He's curled up in his chair, covered in a blanket, with the flu! Ever since he met Dean, he's getting sicker.
Yes, Dean is the archangel! Chuck practically doing nothing, hell he didn't even say other words other than the above. So, it's Dean who freaked Lilith out.
And Dean doesn't know the truth about himself. Now, that's a great thing.
I'm sure now, Lucifer won't take Sam's body as his vessel. And since Sam found out he couldn't take Lilith out with his powers, he won't trust Ruby no more.
So, it's back to Dean and Sam. YAY!

The best thing was the pause after he said "prophet" - I'm the prophet ... Chuck! That was HILARIOUS!!!

Date: 2009-04-06 08:41 am (UTC)And Lilith didn't even blink when Chuck stated the words. Her attention solely to Dean.
Haaaaa....now I can't wait for Castiel or any other angel to give Dean the flaming sword, the one Michael the Archangel has. And of course, there'll wings for Dean as well, a pair of jade green wings.
YAY!
