Saw Terminator Salvation last weekend.
Jun. 2nd, 2009 02:00 pmAnd guess what my seat number was?
Isn't that awesome?

Yeah, well, technically that was my boy's but of course he didn't dare sit *there*!
As for the movie itself, it could be summed up in one word.
Bleak.
And the past, present, future thing was so CONFUSING I gave up thinking about it.
Oh it had its moments. Finding out that Chekov from Star Trek ( whathisname Anton something? ) was Kyle Reese for instance. I used to heart Michael Biehn so when I heard that Kyle Reese was going to be in it, I was anxious to see who was going to play him. Anton was alright, young Kyle was quite funny and I kept expecting him to say Wiktor Wiktor! Star was sweet but I didn't get what she was really supposed to do except be Kyle's companion.
Marcus Wright was the star of the movie for me. He was so there in your face that at times I quite forgot that John Connor was supposed to be the hero of the story. Not really a fan of Christian Bale in the first place and his depressing potrayal of Connor ( complete with his Batman's voice and all ) made Marcus shone all the more for me. And I've never heard of Sam Worthington, too!
It's overall better than the last T3 though ( well, since T3 is so bad there's really no where else to go but up ). And I never thought that I'd say this but I missed Arnold Schwarzenegger as The Terminator. It sounded so wrong to have Bale saying "I'll be back." I missed Linda Hamilton, too.
And whoa, Sam Worthington!!

Date: 2009-06-02 06:09 am (UTC)Star was a boy though or so my kids told me. They said he was in the movie Holes I think it was. I couldn't tell and I said something about it and they said it was a boy. I was like okay then.
Yeah Anton had a hell of a May paycheck didn't he? I thought he was awesome in both roles.
I love Michael Bein too and I'm always pissed that every rerun of Terminator they show is freaking 2 and 3 and very rarely show 1 which is my favorite because of him.

Date: 2009-06-02 07:09 am (UTC)It's the same over here. They hardly play the original Terminator but played the second and third ( especially the third ) Terminator like anything. I don't mind Terminator 2 but T3 did nothing for me.
Do you understand the part where Connor met Reese? Reese went back to the past to save his son in the first movie, right? He was already a man then so what did he do after he met Connor in T4? *is confused*

Date: 2009-06-02 05:47 pm (UTC)OMG I didn't realize that was Chekov! Thought Kyle looked familiar but I didn't connect.
Sam Worthington! I never heard of him before either. But I totally fangirl him now! In fact, I was so taken with his Marcus, I started to look him up on my Blackberry in the movie theater when he was not on screen. :p
Funny you mentioned Bale's Batman voice. I noticed it too and it was very distracting. I didn't like it in Batman and I didn't like it here either. Bale looks good, not Jensen's level, but still... It is his acting I'm not too keen on.
The movie was bleak for the most part (that's what I liked about), but it also give me a hopeful vibe since it emphasizes on having a second chance.

Date: 2009-06-02 11:26 pm (UTC)Yes, that Batman's voice is totally distracting. Somewhat like Dean's voice which has been getting raspier each season.
I read somewhere that McG, the director, actually intially meant Marcus Wright to be the main character but I guess since Christian Bale is the bigger name, that didn't happen. Oh I do so need a Marcus/Sam Worthington icon right now!

Date: 2009-06-02 11:43 pm (UTC)Oh, I don't have any problem with Dean's raspy voice at all. I thought Jensen has a very good control of his voice, making his character not only looked like but also sounded like he was in pain. The problem with Christian Bale's raspy voice is it sounded so fake, and that's distracting.
To me, Marcus Wright is the main character because the movie is about redemption. That's what the "salvation" is to me -- making the right choice and believing in second chance.
If you find a Marcus/Sam Worthington icon, let me know! ;-)

Date: 2009-06-03 03:25 am (UTC)That's why when she made the tape she said she wasn't sure wether to tell him or not because she was afraid he wouldn't send Kyle back. I think at least he got to know his father even if at the time he was still a kid.
It's definitely a mind bend trying to keep up with it.
