And I'm DYING to know what's going to happen in those two episodes but ESPECIALLY in the first one. Because OMG
THE CURIOUS CASE OF DEAN WINCHESTER!!!!!!!! Omg, that's the movie that made me fall in love all over again with Brad Pitt ( after 'Babel' ), and I'm already so much in love with Dean Winchester it's not even funny. Is he going to be de-aged *FAINTS* the way Brad Pitt was, or made to look older? ( though after 'The End' I don't hold much hope for that )
Though most probably it has nothing to do with the movie but omg I CAN'T WAIT!!!!
And yeah, I LOVE the movie!!

As for the other episode, 'The Ghostbuster'? What's that going to be about I wonder? Ed and Harry making a comeback? Or the Winchester brothers meet TAPS? I'm sooo excited!!!!

Date: 2009-10-15 09:50 am (UTC)And, bad me, but I have kinda spoiled myself for those two eps that you mentioned. I know the gist of one of the eps, but I know nothing beyond the episode title of the other one.
Y'know, although I'm always impatiently waiting for the next episode to air, I kinda don't want the season to go by so fast since this might be the last season. :( Supernatural changed my TV watching life.

Date: 2009-10-15 12:25 pm (UTC)I was at this TV forum where they were discussing the episodes. Tersilap click kat season 5, terus nampak the titles. I thought they were only discussing aired episodes! But it doesn't really matter because I love that title LOTS!!
The coming hiatus will help in making the season last longer. And hey, there's still hope for season 6, and a movie *HOPES*

Date: 2009-10-18 10:51 pm (UTC)Eeeeee!
Date: 2009-10-15 01:38 pm (UTC)Here's the airing schedule, according to a couple different places, BTW:
10/15 (tonight) = 5.06
10/22 = 5.01 repeat
10/29 = 5.07
11/5 = 5.08
11/12 = 5.09
11/19 = 5.10
Then the dreaded hellatus for the holidays, starting up again (presumably with 5.11) in January.
Thanks for pointing out the movie reference, duh! I never did get around to seeing that. All I'll say is: You're. Going. To. Love. It. Me, not so much I suspect, but the vast majority of fandom will probably love it. I can't wait for #508, and I can't recall right offhand what #509 is about for sure. Supposedly #510 is meant to make us suffer intensely with curiosity during the hellatus, as is Kripke's usual holiday gift to us. :/
BTW, I'm going out of town this afternoon for a few days, I mean literally a few towns away, and will be computerless. I will, thank God, have access to the CW! I'm running away from home and work for a few days because what's left of my sanity requires it.
Re: Eeeeee!
Date: 2009-10-15 03:11 pm (UTC)Thanks for the episode schedule. I've no idea when the hiatus is supposed to be! I don't understand why they need to have the hiatus at all. Is it the same with all the other shows or is it only for certain shows?
Have a good break/vacation Shari!!!
Re: Eeeeee!
Date: 2009-10-18 11:05 pm (UTC)Here's the deal with the hiatus: Pretty much all regular series take a hiatus during the winter. It's partly to give the actors and crew time to celebrate the holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, Hannukah, New Years, etc.) and a much-needed break. Usually they'll have shot approximately half a season, and maybe 9-11 of those will have aired. The don't start filming again, usually, till January, but should have at least 2 or 3 episodes that are ready to air while they're filming more.
Until a couple of years ago, there were big ratings periods called sweeps, when the sponsors/advertisers would decide which shows they would pay for time on. The more successful shows, with the higher ratings, usually scored the advertisers with the most money. The ratings for sweeps were counted in February, May (usually the end of most seasons), and November.
The last couple of years, maybe due to DVRs and various other sources of viewing, have changed things a bit. There are more shows that are starting in summer, or "mid-season" in January, to replace the less successful ones that were dumped due to low ratings. There doesn't seem to be quite as much fuss made about sweeps, because so many shows air outside the usual September through May pattern.
So yes, to make a long-winded answer shorter (really!) most shows do take 5-6 weeks off around the end of the calendar year. Part of the thinking is that a lot of the viewing audience will be doing other things, such as taking vacations, visiting family, shopping, etc. around the holidays, so they don't want to waste new episodes in December when there's likely to be a much smaller audience. Then there's the family/religious factors, where some viewers are looking for more "wholesome, family-friendly" fare rather than serial killers, supernatural evil, angsty sci-fi, or hospital soap operas.
Sometimes we're lucky enough to get re-runs, especially on the CW, but the bigger networks tend to show holiday specials, some of which have been airing for 20-30 years. Or they'll have holiday-themed movies. Then there's the ever-popular holiday episodes of the regular shows, where they sort of take a break from the usual theme of the show to allow for the characters to interact with family members we hardly ever see, or just celebrate the holidays. "A Very Supernatural Christmas" not only thumbed its nose gleefully at the usual traditions, but reveled in being as off-putting as possible to those with more traditional tastes in holiday entertainment...at least, that was my take on it.
Now you know more than you ever wanted to about the mysteries of American TV holiday programming. I now return you to your regularly scheduled squee. :)
(whispering)...and yes, the episode title of 5.07 was chosen for a very deliberate reason, which I just didn't pick up on at all till you mentioned the movie, 'cause sometimes I'm slower than molasses!

Date: 2009-10-15 03:26 pm (UTC)You know, I'm embarrassed to admit that I haven't seen The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. It's weird because I love Brad Pitt and I know the hubby and I had planned on seeing this film. I just added it to my Netflix queue so I'll get it by the weekend. :D

Date: 2009-10-15 07:52 pm (UTC)Oh, btw the movie is my favorite too, and I'm not even a big Brad Pitt fan! In fact "Curious Case of Benjamin Button", along with lotr trilogy, Amadeus, and Gone With the Wind, make up my favorite movies of all time!

Date: 2009-10-15 11:50 pm (UTC)I wasn't a Brad Pitt fan at all, until Babel. And after Benjamin Button I totally began to have a schoolgirl crush on him. And hey, a hunk like him with five kids! That's kinda hot!!
I've read Gone With The Wind the book ( I dig Melanie ) but have yet to watch the movie. I'm planning to watch James Dean's 'East of Eden' sometime during the weekend, because hey, Dean mentioned it so it's a must-watch for me now. Have you seen 'East of Eden'?

Date: 2009-10-16 05:12 am (UTC)I hope the episode is good? Because as much as I love SPN, I do admit that sometimes the episodes could be less then stellar, especially if you hadn't been watching the series right from season 1!
And yes, I'm so proud of you, my lovely! ♥

Date: 2009-10-16 11:38 pm (UTC)And I'm glad that the last episode was one of the better ones. You know how House has this "patient-of-the-week" thing along with its overall storyline for the season? Same thing with SPN - it has its "monster-of-the-week" thing where the boys solve supernatural cases, and it has its overall mytharc - Sam supposedly going darkside ala Anakin, in this season, Lucifer is coveting him, while Dean who begins season one ala Hans Solo is now coveted by the archangel Michael, so for this season it's the boys both trying to avoid the apocalypse without being the pawns of Heaven and Hell. And oh, the angel Castiel is a recurring character, he's more or less Dean's guardian angel, as opposed to Sam's demon mentor last season who thankfully was killed off last season finale.
Heh, got a little bit carried away there ... :D
