Oh my. That was so, so good it felt like a finale to me. And I can't remember when was the last time I cried watching SPN. Maybe during that episode when the brothers burnt their father's body at the pyre. Or that time when John appeared as a flickering spirit in All Hell Break Loose 2, nodding his approval at Dean. This time I bawled when Ellen and Jo sat together, waiting for their deaths. It's a pity that we won't be seeing them anymore, especially Ellen, but if I were her, I would have done exactly the same as what she did.

[livejournal.com profile] i_o_r_h_a_e_l, now I feel silly about my reluctance to watch this episode!

And now, what? Five, six more weeks before the next episode? Aargh!!

Great acting all the way around. It was also a very chilling episode. All those reapers standing around made a profound impact visually. There were a lot of visually captivating moments. What a great creative team and crew they have!

On a smaller note, I really liked the rainy outside shoots. Reminds me of good old wet, dark, dreary seasons 1 & 2. :-)

I knew Ellen would make that choice. Without Jo, she's got nothing left. Her husband died, the Roadhouse burned. She was fond of the boys, sure, but never as close like family as Bobby is. Just nothing left. Reminded me a little too much of me.

Oh yes, definitely great acting all around. Mark Pellegrino gave me the chills, he was so awesome as Lucifer. And now I really want to see him as Jacob in Lost. The reapers made me think of the movie, I think it was called The City Of Angels, the one where Nick Cage ( I think ) was an angel who came down to earth or something, and there was a scene where the angels were just standing looking up at the sky, just like the reapers in 5.10. But I wonder why there wasn't any Tessa-like reaper. I guess Tessa was custom-made for Dean?

I don't think there was any special reason for no Tessa other than the SPN creators frequently violate their own canon in order to do something they think is cool, lol. Plus Tessa had come for that boy last season. But who knows.

And poor Jensen's fingernail! Ouch! Wonder what he did to his finger and if it was on-the-job injury or he was building a treehouse with Jared and smashed it with a hammer. ;-) It showed smaller signs of hurt since 5.07, so it's been a long time whatever it was. Ow!

He injured his finger? I didn't know about that! Which scenes was it obviously injured? I need to see that!

I wonder whether that has something to do with Dean not wearing his ring. Maybe the whole finger was swollen that he couldn't wear the ring?

Here from Changing Channels. See the band aid? Click to enlarge.

Here from Abandon All Hope. Click to enlarge. The second I saw this shot I was cringing over the finger and not over Jo about to be blown to bits, lol. Anyway, the finger looks pretty swollen, so wearing the ring on the finger next to it might've been pretty uncomfortable. I remember having to stop wearing my wedding ring when I smashed my middle finger next to it once. Too swelled up and sore.

Ooooh thanks! I didn't notice that at all. Maybe he accidentally slammed the car door on it? That happened to my son once and the whole finger swelled up like anything. Or maybe, like you said, the treehouse!!

But that was the middle finger, not the ring finger. Though he probably injured his ring finger as well. But I wonder why Kripke didn't say why when someone asked him why Dean wasn't wearing his ring. I think he said it's not important to the storyline or something, and he didn't elaborate further.

I got the impression "Tessa" created a body that Dean would see as harmless, non-threatening, a damsel in distress. Maybe the creepy old man look is the Reapers default look? They probably don't have much reason to change their looks unless someone is being particularly stubborn and they have to use subterfuge.

It's too bad they had to kill Tessa, but it seems that almost anyone who might be helpful to the boys gets killed off.

That's very true! Tessa, Pam, Jo and Ellen. I fear for Bobby now :/

I was so afraid Bobby was going to be one of the "fan favorites" who would be killed in that episode. I figured Ellen had to be one. But you're right, I'm going to be afraid for Bobby, every episode he's in! Well, technically they killed him in The End, but at least we didn't see it happen.
