Oh my. That was so, so good it felt like a finale to me. And I can't remember when was the last time I cried watching SPN. Maybe during that episode when the brothers burnt their father's body at the pyre. Or that time when John appeared as a flickering spirit in All Hell Break Loose 2, nodding his approval at Dean. This time I bawled when Ellen and Jo sat together, waiting for their deaths. It's a pity that we won't be seeing them anymore, especially Ellen, but if I were her, I would have done exactly the same as what she did.
i_o_r_h_a_e_l, now I feel silly about my reluctance to watch this episode!
And now, what? Five, six more weeks before the next episode? Aargh!!

Date: 2009-11-23 04:14 pm (UTC)And I love the actor who played Lucifer, and Crowley was in an episode of Leverage, wasn't he?

Date: 2009-11-23 08:59 pm (UTC)On a smaller note, I really liked the rainy outside shoots. Reminds me of good old wet, dark, dreary seasons 1 & 2. :-)
I knew Ellen would make that choice. Without Jo, she's got nothing left. Her husband died, the Roadhouse burned. She was fond of the boys, sure, but never as close like family as Bobby is. Just nothing left. Reminded me a little too much of me.

Date: 2009-11-24 02:37 am (UTC)And poor Jensen's fingernail! Ouch! Wonder what he did to his finger and if it was on-the-job injury or he was building a treehouse with Jared and smashed it with a hammer. ;-) It showed smaller signs of hurt since 5.07, so it's been a long time whatever it was. Ow!

Date: 2009-11-24 02:47 am (UTC)I wonder whether that has something to do with Dean not wearing his ring. Maybe the whole finger was swollen that he couldn't wear the ring?

Date: 2009-11-24 05:11 am (UTC)Here from Abandon All Hope. Click to enlarge. The second I saw this shot I was cringing over the finger and not over Jo about to be blown to bits, lol. Anyway, the finger looks pretty swollen, so wearing the ring on the finger next to it might've been pretty uncomfortable. I remember having to stop wearing my wedding ring when I smashed my middle finger next to it once. Too swelled up and sore.

Date: 2009-11-24 05:32 am (UTC)But that was the middle finger, not the ring finger. Though he probably injured his ring finger as well. But I wonder why Kripke didn't say why when someone asked him why Dean wasn't wearing his ring. I think he said it's not important to the storyline or something, and he didn't elaborate further.

Date: 2009-11-24 05:43 am (UTC)It's too bad they had to kill Tessa, but it seems that almost anyone who might be helpful to the boys gets killed off.

Date: 2009-11-24 03:55 am (UTC)The guy who played Crowley, I'm trying to remember his name and I just can't think of it. He's been in a lot of shows, but off the top of my head, he's occasionally on Dollhouse as an FBI agent, was/is on Leverage as a sort of rival for Nate's position in his insurance company. He's been in a few episodes trying to catch the guys. He was also in an episode of Firefly, playing a bad guy named Badger. The one with the "very fine hat".
It's going to be about 8 weeks till the next new episode on January 21. I just read a list of the reruns, and they're running Good God Y'All, Free To Be You and Me, and The End, then skipping Fallen Idol, I Believe That Children Are Our Future and The Curious Case of Dean Winchester. There's no rerun on 12/17, and on 12/24 they're rerunning A Very Supernatural Christmas and then jump into the last few episodes, Changing Channels, The Real Ghostbusters, and Abandon All Hope.
I think episode #11, airing on 1/21, is going to be awesome. A Couple of the others I've heard about sound good, but I think that one and ep #12 will be fantastic.
I thought about that scene in City of Angels, too! There was also a sort of similar scene in an episode of Touched By An Angel, where a LOT of Angels of Death showed up, because there was going to be a terrorist act involving blowing up a building. It would be a huge job for just a few Angels of Death to take on, so there were a couple of dozen, I think.
Very intriguing episode, and I hope we'll be seeing Crowley more often!

Date: 2009-11-24 04:09 am (UTC)Ruby 2.0 is an exception, right? Right? :)
Those three eps that they skipped? They're the three of my least favourite eps of season 5!
I wonder who's going to play The Angel of Death. Or whether they're going to cast anyone at all.
And yes, Crowley was awesome! I only knew him from Leverage. Man, didn't expect the show to go there when they showed him kissing that old guy! I'm hoping that that'll be a hint for another kiss that we're all hoping to see, even if it was only a chaste brotherly peck!!

Date: 2009-11-24 04:49 am (UTC)Yes, I LOATHED Ruby 2.0, and even more so just seconds before the boys killed her. That was a very satisfying death scene, wasn't it?
Those three eps that they skipped? They're the three of my least favourite eps of season 5!
Me, too! The only one that seems like it might be relevant later on is IBTCAOF, and they can recap the antichrist bits briefly in the previouslies to catch people up.

It's an intriguing notion, isn't it? We have the Horseman Death on the devil's side, so maybe the Angel of Death should show up to balance things out. I'd love to see John Dye, who played the most frequently used Angel of Death on Touched By An Angel (and is pretty hot, too). I don't know if they're going to bother going there, though.

It's Mark Sheppard who plays Crowley, the name finally came to me. That was an unexpected scene. So bizarre that the banker would consider selling his soul less painful than kissing a man. I mean, was he that desperate for a hot woman to kiss him that it would be the dealbreaker? I though prostitutes were a bit cheaper than sell-your-soul type rates!
Yes, I'd love it if they'd really show that! Who knows, there's a possibility something like that might happen in one of the upcoming episodes. I have no idea if it will, just that it would be a great opportunity to have a kiss between the boys without the entire incest factor.
Wake me up when it's January 21, okay? :)

Date: 2009-11-24 04:56 am (UTC)Maybe now's the time to run a marathon for season 5: the story so far. With a few skipped episodes. God, and to think that I really, really looked forward to Curious!

Date: 2009-11-24 05:39 am (UTC)I know I must have missed some stuff in Curious, because the poker games made no sense to me, unless I was misreading some of the cards. There just seemed to be too many unexplained things there. In some cases they over-explain, and in others I think they leave too much up to the imagination instead of finishing the story they started.
I still love the show, but mainly because of the brothers, not quite so much the apocalyptic storyline. I had enough apocalypses between Buffy and Angel to last a lifetime!

no subject
Date: 2009-11-24 08:25 am (UTC)Oh, yeah, Dean's finger. According to Raloria it was because of an accident when he was working out. Getting smashed by two barbles or something like that. They were being reckless when working out? Making out instead of exercising - and hit into something? :D:D:D
