Two Boys from Kansas in King Uther's Court by [livejournal.com profile] ariadnes_string. SPN / Merlin crossover. Gen. Completed.

This is Sam and Dean thrown back into the year 528, meet Arthur and Merlin, and Gaius and Gwen and Uther, and one particular person ( spoiler! ) who trully gave me the chills when the name was first mentioned.

A very enjoyable read, and the interactions between the four main characters are extremely engaging, and what happened to the brothers in King Uther's court right from the moment they were captured by a knight kept me at the edge of my seat. I teared up here and there, laughed out loud plenty of times, because 6th century or not, Dean is still Dean, and Sam is still his geeky, adorable self, and Arthur and Merlin are their awesome, amazing selves!

“Fair sir,” said the knight, or Jedi warrior, or whatever the fuck he was, “will ye just?”

“Will I which?”

“Will you try passage of arms for land or lady or for—“

“Seriously? Seriously? What, did someone drop acid in the fake mead at the Renaissance Fair? Stop dicking around, man, and fuck off.”

Dean trying to be big brother to Merlin was simply adorable, and Sam rebelling against Arthur was awesome!

I've read The SPN x-over with Harry Potter the other day. You know, the one from Astolat? Do you remember?
Well, I like that VERY MUCH! And I think I should try to read this one too. :)
Thanks for the rec, Layne. ♥

'Old Country' you mean? That is one of my favourite stories ever!! Seriously, seriously awesome!!

I think you're going to love this one as well. The Sam and Dean in this story is from the Sam and Dean of seasons 1 and 2, and you know how close they were then, and how protective of Sam Dean was.

Yes, Old Country! :D

Oh, they're from Seasons 1 and 2? Good, good.
And do you think it's okay if I make a banner for the story?

I think that should be more than okay!

Hey, there's a sequel to this fic now - http://ariadnes-string.livejournal.com/30137.html - and it's as awesome as the original! This time it was Merlin and Arthur who time-travelled into the future, paying their debt to Sam and Dean so to speak.

:D

I read that! And I've only ever seen like a smidge of the first episode of Merlin, but I still enjoyed it! In fact, I'm somewhat intrigued by it now.

Wow, never thought of a Merlin/SPN crossover before, and certainly didn't expect it to work. lol

Another show for you to download, ya? :D

I saw the first season on Hallmark, then I just had to download the second season off the internet as I simply couldn't wait. Season 2 is better than season 1 :)
