Yesterday we went to the cinema hoping to catch Avatar but alas, we were not meant to watch it. It's no longer playing at the theatres near us. Can't say that I was too disappointed because there were conflicting reviews from my flist but still, I was hoping to see it and judge it for myself. Oh well.

Anyway, hubby said he wanted to watch Legion. I knew nothing about that movie but knowing hubby I thought it'd be the beat-'em-shoot-'em, Die Hard type of film and I was right, well, sort of.

Oh man, when I saw the movie poster - a winged-man no less - I really, really wanted to turn back except that hubby was set on watching it. Said he saw the trailer and he liked it, and really it was either that or The Tooth Fairy, and that's another man-with-wings argh.

Anyway, it wasn't bad. It wasn't great but I enjoyed it nevertheless. And I'm so on board with Paul Bettany playing Michael, so very on board. His Michael is as bad-assed as baylorsr's Michael here, and if you hadn't read that already you totally SHOULD. I kept expecting Sam and Dean and Azrael and Castiel to make their appearances!

The best thing about the movie ( other than Bettany as Michael of course ) was Adrienne Palicki!! That was a very pleasant surprise indeed, and she was GOOD!! From girlfriend to a would-be Lucifer's vessel to a girl receiving protection from Michael. Niice ...

Bettany kicked ass as Michael, until the dreaded wings made its appearance of course. I'm so not into men with wings, and except for a couple here and there, I'm not into wing!fics either. I'm so hoping that if they ever decided to give Dean his wings, it'd be something subtle, more of the idea of wings, the way they did with Castiel and the other angels. The shadow of wings, the imprints of Uriel's and the girl angel's in 'On The Head Of The Pin', the sound of wings fluttering, those work so much better than the ones in the movie.. And what's worse, the Legion!wings are made from steel!

Also, I'm so not on board with the concept of angels possesing humans. Sure they were following God's orders to destroy humanity but why must they behaved and looked like demons? Complete with black eyes and sharp teeth too. Kripke's Uriel and Lucifer were a thousand times better.

The fight between Michael and Gabriel was completely uninspiring. They were both Archangels for God's sake and there they were fighting like men. Sam and Dean fought better in their tussle in Pilot I swear. And have I said I hated those darned wings?

It's not all bad though. Michael and Charlie, I love them, and I love the other characters too - Percy and Audrey and Jeep and the rest. And the grandma who climbed up the wall - creeeepy!

I'm giving it a 5/10. And I'm so rec'ing it if you were into badass!Michael, which I totally am. Any chance of Paul Bettany making it as Michael in Supernatural? None? Oh well, you can always hope :)

Yes!!!!!!! I can so imagine a Bettany - Pellegrino confrontation, with Sam and Dean watching from the sidelines because of course they both said no to Michael and Lucifer!

Have you watched Gabriel? If you haven't you really should. They're playing it on Max this month, I think, but I have the movie downloaded and I prefer that over the board of censorship's version, of course. :P

Anyway. The angels are BADASS and Andy Whitfield is HOT and the end scene is just so bloody powerful and just what I want for Supernatural's end! ;)

Aww, I liked the wings. And I wish that the SN Michael had been more like Legion's Michael, though I prefer SN's Gabriel.

I was so disappointed with Jake!Michael you have no idea. That was one character that I was so looking forward to seeing in the finale.

I prefer SN's Gabriel too, especially in Hammer Of The Gods. Legion's Gabriel made me think of Zachariah.

I tried watching it awhile a back and couldn't really connect to any of the characters. It was very atmospheric, though.
