They deliberately choose the worst singer and encourage everyone to vote for that person, thereby skewing the results for everyone. This actually made the news last year, but for some reason they're not mentioning it this year. They were working on keeping Kevin on, but after he got voted off they decided to go for Kellie. She's not really that bad, but seeing as a little blonde country girl won last year, there's no way Kellie is going to win this year unless these people manage it.
