When a fic and a TV show and a manip come together so very nicely.

I'm watching 'Spartacus' and each time they barked out Thracian at him, my mind would immediately fly to this fic by janissa11, The Thracian Lion, a J2 Roman AU. Well, at least I hope it's a J2 because Jensen has yet to make his appearance.

But so far the fic has been fabulous even without Jensen, and Jared is awesome as the Thracian taken prisoner when his father died and I'm already having images of him as a gladiator because what else could he be but a gladiator and oh do take a look at this awesome manip of gladiator!Jared done by crystal_line here.

And I can't help but wonder who/what Jensen is going to be in this verse. Fellow prisoner? A gladiator? A nobleman? Jared's new owner perhaps? A house slave? Oh please let him be a slave as I have such a kink for slave!Jensen with gladiator!Jared coming to the rescue. Though I don't think I'd mind if Jensen turned out to be Jared's lord and master. Jensen would look good in a toga! I still prefer him to be a slave though. Maybe one of those house-slaves who hold those huge fans, waving it up and down slowly, and really, did the air even move? But whatever it is, I'm so looking forward to the next chapter because as is everything else that janissa11 has written, this one is awesome!

Thanks for the rec! Somehow I missed that one, but I'll have to check it out. I have a kink for slave!Jared, and gladiator!Jared is pretty damned awesome, too!

I haven't been watching Spartacus, but my mom is keeping up with it. I did see the recent remake of the movie with Goran Vjisnic, though, who's also quite watchable.

You're welcome! I usually get antsy and my finger would start twitching for the back button when there's only one J in a story ( even when it's Jensen without Jared ), but not with this one. And the author said that Jensen should make his appearance probably in the next chapter.

I saw the movie with Russell Crowe in it but not the one you mentioned. Is it better than Crowe's?

I didn't see the one with Russell Crowe. I do not like that man. The one I saw was a TV mini-series, I believe, maybe a 4 hour, 2-part thing, so now that I think about it, I'm not surprised if you haven't seen it! I didn't think it was all that great, and of course, my mom still thinks the original is the best.

Yeah, you're right. But I think that gladiators have more chance of freeing themselves compared to the house-slaves? Argh, my knowledge of the Rome empire come mostly from the movies and Colleen Mc Cullough's books, and I seem to remember learning about them from primary school History lesson. Mmmmm, Jensen would look good wearing barely-there rags ...

You may be right but I don't think many slaves got free, it was a harsh and brutal time.

And yet I still love Gladiator the movie!
