Just finished watching all 13 episodes of Harper's Island. It's not bad. I'd put it in the category of I Know What You Did Last Summer and Urban Legend but not in the same class as Silence of the Lamb or The Red Dragon. Enjoyable but not brilliantly toe-curling spine-chilling scary as the last two.

The revealation on who the killer was ( and his accomplice ) was somewhat of an anti-climax to me. Not that I guessed it was Henry, but the way it was revealed was a bit flat - instead of OMG HENRY??!!?? I was like Oh okay, Henry. And you know, I didn't feel any chemistry between Henry and Trish, like, at all. At first I thought it was the acting, and Katie Cassidy being the spoiled, rich brat was so not my thing. I've thought right from the get go that Henry seemed to be more in love with Abby, that he was more connected to her than his wife-to-be and hey, I was right! His declaration of love for Abby at the end made me a tad uncomfortable, and yeah, I love Flowers In The Attic and I'm into Sam/Dean but I guess reading about it and having it in your head only is not the same as watching it.

But having said that, I did enjoy watching the show, screaming at all the right places, you know, it was like watching an eight-hour long horror flick!

And I LOVE seeing all the familiar SPN faces - Ruby and Reznik, Mrs Tanner from 'The Crotoan', the museum guide form 'Long Distance Call' ( ahaha, the last two I had trouble recalling where I had seen before ) and of course BOBBY!!! Jimmy made me think of Orlando Bloom, especially with his beannie on.

Elaine Cassidy was wonderful as Abby Mills. And I like the actress who played Shay, too. Katie Cassidy ... not so much, but maybe that's because I don't like the character she was playing. Give me angst over bouncy and overly cheerful anytime. And it tickled me to see Henry from Ugly Betty playing a different kind of Henry altogether!

I was trying to watch it but somehow I found it too slow. I didn't try to find it again. :) Who's Henry? Gorham?

Jim Beaver was the main reason why I was interested in watching it in the first place. And yes, Henry was played by Gorham, the same Henry in 'Ugly Betty' and now each time I watch him in Ugly Betty I kept thinking of the psycho killer in Harper's Island!

I enjoyed watching it and loved the premise, but there were little things about it that annoyed me, like how all the female actresses were scrawny wtih this long, straggly hair style, lol! And everyone seemed so shallow!

I know, right? But maybe the characters were meant to be shallow? They were mostly "summer people", weren't they? People from the mainland and all that stuff. And I really couldn't stand Trish and I wished she would just stop being so smiley and hyper.

I love Abby though. I thought she was great, both the character and the actress who played her.

Elaine and Katie, are they related?

I thought that too initially! But no, they're aren't related. Elaine Cassidy played the main character, Abby Mills, and I believe she's from Ireland. I think she's a darn good actress and I hope to see more of her!

She's got nominated for some award, I read once. Jim tweeted about the nomination as well. :D

I'm so glad to hear that because she's really good, head and shoulders above most of the other actors in that show!

Never seen her before.
Honestly, I've never watched Harper's either. :D

I've never heard of her before this either. I watched Harper's Island mainly for Jim Beaver, and also Katie Cassidy. And there were quite a lot of other SPN faces there that it almost felt like a gathering of SPN alumni!!

I read Callum Keith Rennie and Gina Holden (both Wendigo) and Chris Gauthier a.k.a Ronald Reznikc. :D

I remember Callum as Vladimir in 24 but I can't recall him in SPN. But yes omg, Gina Holden was Haley! She was Katie Cassidy's sister in Harper's Island ( and she was great! ). No wonder she looked very familiar, I've forgotten about Haley! And yes, good old Reznik was there :))

Callum was in Wendigo too. He was the park ranger, remember, the man Haley asked to find his brother in the forest?

Oh yes, now I remember. And if I'm not mistaken the ranger was a bit of a jerk, wasn't he? Heh, he was a villain in 24 and he was again one in Harper's Island :)
