Whenever I think of the finale, these series of images are the very first thing that come to my mind. It's like they have been burned into my retina, my brain, my heart.

"Sammy, it's okay, I'm here, I'm not going to leave you."

So broken yet still so beautiful ... Oh my heart ...

How about you? What is your number one memorable scene from the finale? Sam and Dean sitting quietly gazing at the stars? Scratching their initials together? Do tell!

And a fic!

Snippets on a Road to Nowhere by [livejournal.com profile] merryish. Gen, ~1900 words.

Reading this is like listening to a Sam'nDean lullaby. It's soft and gentle and heart-warming and well, it's them in a nutshell. Seven different scenarios, all of them are love.

Plus the one where sam beats dean and he says that he's there for him and then the light/flashback

Oh yes, that scene is just so sweet. So romantic. Ahaha, I just can't imagine my two brothers doing that!

Oh this is tough. Perhaps the time when Dean kneels on the ground where Sam has disappeared into? Or when he looks so sad at the dinner in Lisa's house? *sighs*

By the way, have you seen the drawing by [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com] when Sam pulls Dean only with one hand? The drawing is so cute and the scene makes me shiver! :D

No, I haven't seen that. Thanks for the link! Her drawings are real cute. I've friended her btw :)

Broken!Dean kneeling on the ground was just divine. How I wish the finale ended that way without Lisa being in it. I'm thinking if there was no season 6, Dean would have followed Sam into the pit.

I honestly think the scene of him kneeling is too fast. I was disappointed when Cas reappeared. It was anticlimatic. I wish they gave Dean more time to mourn.

It's hard, no, impossible, to please everyone. I dislike Lisa, and you dislike Castiel! :)

This may shock you, but my favorite scene was the opening one with Chuck's voiceover playing over scenes of the Impala. It was so unexpected and I yelled, "Our Baby!" I had heard that she was going to play an important part in the finale; but I had no idea they had planned such an elaborate tribute to her and I was thrilled. She so deserved it. Besides, I knew the rest of the scenes with the boys would be epic, the finales always are. :D

I read the story "Snippets", they are just awesome and I told the author so. I also told her I hope she has more.

No, no shocker there because I love that scene, too. The minute I saw that I just knew that the finale was going to be good. I was dreading it, you know, the finale, I thought it was going to be bad, but yeah, that tribute to the Impala is one of the best parts of the episode. She truly was the boys' home, ya?

[livejournal.com profile] merryish is a wonderful author. I love her stories but she hasn't written anything SPN-related for so long that I thought she has gone off the fandom. I squeed out loud when I saw her name at the spnnewsletter. Do go to her old fics, they're lovely!

Dean, all beaten up, saying, "It's okay, Sammy. I'm here."

Yes, that. Only with me it's more the image than what he said. The make-up people must have spent hours to make him look like that, they really went to town with him, eh?

Yes, he was EFFED up. And its that he could be so destroyed and still be giving to Sammy. As far as I'm concerned, he's the jesus figure. He's the savior of the world.

In the last 15 or 20 minutes of the episode, I was suddenly hit full force with grief over my mother's passing, like it had just happened, as well as grief over how changed our family dynamics are now, which is what the episode was ultimately about--grief, families, love, inevitability of change, good or bad.

Oh Chloe ... *hugs you tight*

I know that feeling. My own father had passed more than 15 years ago but the grief still comes, sometimes when you least expect it.

*hugs you again*

I was pretty underwhelmed with the finale. But I don't know how it could have been otherwise because they've really taken this heaven-hell-demons-angels-apocalypse-armageddon thing too far.

My fave part was definitely Cas saying "Assbut" and then returning more powerful than ever.

Now the show needs to get back to ghost-hunting. With Cas as their sidekick angel.

:D

I had low expectations of the finale and maybe it was because of that I found myself enjoying it. I wasn't exactly spoiled but I had heard stuff, things that I didn't like, Lisa for instance, and I had an inkling that Adam was going to be Michael's vessel, and I didn't like that either. Now that I've seen it, I still didn't like those two aspects of the show but there were parts of the finale that I really love and those somewhat made up for the parts that I hate.

They probably had to change the script once they found out that there'd be season 6.

I'm glad that Castiel is back to being what he was before. Not that I mind human-ish Castiel but there's just something about kickass!Castiel, especially when he's looking out for Dean!

The week before was very good. I loved the promo with the "O Death" rendition. Human Castiel was quite sweet, but I like him best with angel powers. And I could easily ship him and Dean. There's no size kink, sadly, but the dynamic between their personalities is excellent.

I see I misspelled "assbutt" up above. Cas is made of awesome. It seems like maybe he'll continue to show up in Season 6? I sure hope so!

I hope we'll still get to see Castiel in Season 6, too!

I love Dean's scene with Death. It seems like Jensen has chemistry with just about anybody, as long as they're, you know, males :))

I had my goosebumps all over my body everytime Chuck appeared with his voice, telling about the Impala and the boys' life inside the car; that the boys, though never had four walls surround them, they were never homeless.
Oooo...that's soooo good.

And yeah, I also like when they scratched their initials and when they playing with their toys.

And also the flashback! Gosh, that part only was epic! Eric wanted to remind us what Supernatural really is. It's about the boys and nothing more.

Gosh, now I really need the watch the epi again! :D

Yes, the Chuck voice-over with the Impala and the flashbacks to when they were kids and the earlier seasons episodes, that was simply brilliant. I love those very, very much.

Not only do I need to re-watch that episode ( which I have ), I also need to go watch season 1 again!!

Too bad, our Season 1 DVD are a bit in odds. I don't know, we can't watch them. Either the disc is broken or the player.

Oh Layne, sorry I'm so late joining the "party" here.

I agree that the beat up bloody Dean is unusually beautiful. However I confess that scene is not my favorite. It's too cheesy for my taste, whatnot with Kripke substitutes the toy soldier with Wheldon's yellow crayon.

On the other hand, my favorite scene of the episode is this sequence at the end:

To me this scene is so tragic from Dean's perspective. Here he is, inside this cozy little house (the house looks like it's on the water front which invokes the idea of "safe harbor" to me) and amidst a domestic scene. Yet Dean feels strangely absent to me, like he's not really there. In fact, Sam, spirit or not, standing outside looking in is more real and present.

Can you imagine how surprised I was when I read fleshflutter's coda the next day after I watched the finale? She wrote at the end:

He reaches out, and for a moment, it's like he's the one thinking Dean's not real, because he touches Dean as though he expects him not to be there.

I wonder how long was the time period between Sam jumping into the pit and that last scene. At first I thought that it was, maybe a few days after, tops, ( judging from Dean's obvious unhappiness ), but on seeing Sam there, I'm thinking that it might have been a lot longer. Sam couldn't have escaped, or was saved, so fast, right?

Ahaha, the sadist hurt!Dean girl inside of me just enjoyed seeing Dean getting beaten to pulp. I know, I'm bad.

Yes, FF's coda is absolutely lovely. But oh, what I wouldn't give to read one where there's no Lisa in it. An AU where Dean was left alone and broken, with or without Castiel tending to his injuires the old -fashioned way.

Have you read this (http://elizah-jane.livejournal.com/83248.html)? It's as close as I can get to a no-Lisa fic. Oh she's still there but her presence is almost negligible :)

True, I love hurt Dean too, a little too much I'm afraid. Though when he's bleeding, I only want Sam to do the comfort. ;-)

And he was hurting no less at the end there, just more quietly.

As to when that scene was, I can't really say to tell you the truth. Although I think logically, Sam should be "saved" the moment after he sacrificed his life, and here are my reasons (gosh eventually I'll put this in my yet to be written ep review):

1) Nothing should be able to escape Lucifer's cage short of starting another Apocalypse.

2) We know Sam's soul is guaranteed a spot in Heaven when he dies. He hasn't made any deal with any demon, so they shouldn't be able to drag his soul to Hell.

3) If God wants to restore Sam, and I believe God is the only one who has the power, by logic and admission Castiel shouldn't be able to, he would not have to wait for a period of time, because there's no rhyme and reason for that.

On the other hand, this is Supernatural, and I've learned my lesson that it is not the most logical and coherent show. So who knows...

I actually don't have a problem with Lisa, I can tolerate her much more than Jess. Probably because I know Dean was never "in love" with her. She's just an idea, and the mother of the child who could've been Dean's mini-me. With that being said, I really really really would hate if Ben turned out to be Dean's son. I almost never read kid!fics and I don't want to see main characters get involved with kids here.

I haven't actually read any coda except fleshflutter's. Somehow I can't quite bring myself to do that yet...

That scene was so heartbreaking, wasn't it? But, for me, the image that sticks with me more than any other is the one after Sam and Adam are gone - Dean kneeling beside the car, wearing the leather jacket, head bowed... *cries*

I would have bawled my heart out if that was the finale ending.

On a side note, I was so happy that we got to see that leather jacket again. We hadn't seen it for quite some time, right? Someone said, and I agree, they had to make Jensen wear it because he had been getting thinner and less bulky lately!

Me too, me too!

The only time we've seen it, I think, is when Dean packed it into the box he was going to ship to Bobby. It was so nice to see him wearing it right then, it just made it that much more heartbreaking for me.

That's actually a good point. I hadn't thought about it like that, but I definitely agree!

I missed a lot of posts the week of the finale.

That's my favorite moment, too. Also, when he's on his knees, grieving. I wish that part was longer. And I didn't want him to be with Lisa, even though i know he was honoring Sam's wishes.

The fic sounds wonderful, I'l read it later today. :)

It just hurts to see Dean with Lisa and if it's selfish of me to see Dean happy with her then so be it. Though to be honest, I supposed I'd be unhappy too if he was with any other woman. Heh. She's the one blight of season 7 for me, wondering how domestic the opening of S7 going to be like.
