Just being the devil's advocate here (yes I'm feeling evil 'coz I'm dead tired), you do know this is not an absolute fix, right sweetie?
For one thing, I think that CSS code would only work on certain layout styles, but not all. I noticed ckll mentioned it in her entry, but unless she didn't drop the code in her customization yet, it didn't work for her because when I commented in her journal, those checkboxes still showed.
It worked for your layout style. However, if some one choose to view your journal in his/her own style, i.e. like I'm doing right now for testing purpose; since my layout style didn't implement the CSS code, those checkboxes are still there. Don't worry, my connection to FB is disabled, thus those boxes are not clickable.
I'm sorry to be the harbinger of bad news here. But I thought you would want to know this.
A friend told me about that Greasemonkey thing but it's for Firefox only. I'm so used to Internet Explorer but I'll probably use Firefox now to be able to use that.
I just typed in that same code and it worked for me.
Sadly it still leaves the fact that other people can still crosspost if they are linked. ARGH!!! What a shitty thing of LJ to put up. But what else is new. :(
But they can't crosspost from our journal! ( I think? ) Unless, like what xwacky said above, they read our posts using their own journal styles and they don't disable the tick boxes there :(
So here I am, reading about all this hoohaa about the FB/Twitter thing, and not getting it, then I click 'Reply' and see the ticky boxes, and I go Ohhh, NOW I get it.
I personally am not too worried about it, since my LJ is mostly public, and my family and friends traipse in and out of here all the time. But I do understand that most people on LJ prefer to keep their personal and LJ lives separate. This is a pretty crappy option. I'd get putting the repost option on the entry, but not on comments.
You can't see those boxes on my LJ now, can you? *is anxious*
Haha, my sisters would probably get aneurysms if they were to read my LJ lol. Ironically, the personal posts that I don't mind them seeing are all f-locked. It's my public, fannish posts that I don't want them to see, ever. And every niece and every nephew of mine seems to be in FB too!
Actually, I can. It's probably like that commenter above who says that the coding thing is only applicable to certain layouts, and looks like it's not working for my layout (since I'm viewing in my style).
However, I can't click on the boxes, so I don't know if it's something I actually have to activate, or if your coding does work.

And, yes, apparently EVERYONE is on FB.
