I've started thingking about Jensen directing an episode or five since season 4 and I was disappointed when he said "No" to a question from the audience during AHBL con in Sydney. But he did it OMG!

I thought it cool, that Bobby-centric episode, and I love that Kenny Rogers song. I wonder whether Jensen, as a director, had a hand in that. It sounded so Jensen! Love Crowley too. It had been a Mark Sheppard week for me, he was in a Chuck season 3 episode ( him with Casey was hilarious! ) and I'm re-watching season 5 24 and there he was again.

I was quite annoyed with Bobby when he said the boys were selfish but I'm just going to take that as Bobby being Bobby and I'm not going to dwell on that.

So overall, NICE JOB, Jensen!

Well they are a little selfish but he has a problem with asking so it's a two way screw up.

I love him in Leverage. He's an ass in that too. :)

Oh yes, he was in Leverage too. Hmmm, I wonder whether he has ever played a good guy.

Mark Sheppard was also on Dollhouse as a bad guy, and on an episode of Firefly as a bad guy. Nope, I've never seen him play a good guy. Maybe he just doesn't think it would be as much fun.

I loved this episode, and I really did think the boys had it coming when Bobby lit into them. But I think that was also pure fan service, because everything he said, I've read/heard other fans complain about, that the boys rely on him too much instead of doing their own research, etc.

It was overall just an awesome episode! And the wood chipper...trumps just about anything! Get the boys one for Christmas, Bobby. They can throw the rest of their arsenal away so there's room for it (?) in the Impala, and just use that on any evil critter out there!

The thing is, I don't think Mark Sheppard has that super villainous "bad guy" look! More like an adorable bad guy. Except when he was in 24.

I feel so protective over this episode and Jensen. Heheh. Weird, huh? But it's Jensen's brain behind the episode and not just him on screen.

Loved the episode! I thought Jensen did a fantastic job of directing. It wasn't just a generic directing job, and it fit well with the SPN style. Plus, a whole Bobby ep from his POV - you can't go wrong.

(Though I agree they did make Dean a little more self-centered than I believe he is, most likely to serve the interests of the plot.)

I love what Jim Beaver and Jared and Mark Sheppard said about Jensen directing. Lol, love those phones of Bobby's! I wonder what car they were using while in Scotland. I initially thought there was something wrong with the way Dean was driving, forgetting for a moment that they were in Scotland.

It gets depressing when you think too much, not only Bobby in that episode but a lot of other things that have gone wrong with the show since season 4. I'm determined to try watching the show without obsessing about it. I'll leave the thinking to when I'm reading the much superior fanfics!

But having said that, I still have faith in the show because ironically, I think some of the stellar episodes come from the last 2 seasons!

You know what? I agree. I sadly can't read anything spn related right now but i agree that some of the best eps came from the last seasons (especially S4). I need to watch it like you suggested though. Because if look deeper it almost always will leave you disappointed *hugs*

I think Jensen did an excellent job for a first timer. This episode had a distinct fee to it, don't you think? Almost like a fingerprint and, funny thing, me not being so invested in SPN anymore, I forgot it was Jensen-directed epi. Missed that cap with his name too, somehow, only realized it was that epi when looking at people's posts all over LJ. But while watching it, at quite a few moments I thought "oh, cool". Like during Bobby's research, when that clock was moving and, I can't remember now, but in a couple of other moments. So yeah, definitely a recognizable director. Is this guy less than awesome at anything? ;)

Oh I know what you mean about the show having a distinct feel to it, Jensen-feel. My favourite part was the sequence with Kenny Rogers playing in the background, so cool! I think that was when, like you said, Bobby doing his research thing? Great choice of song!
