The American Dream by [livejournal.com profile] tahirire. SPN, coda to The French Mistake, rating R, gen, 4164 words.

Summary : After switching worlds, Sam and Dean had a hard time adjusting. They were lucky. Jared and Jensen were screwed.

Fantastic coda to that episode, because Jared and Jensen had to have gone *somewhere*, right, while Sam and Dean were in their place in Vancouver driving everyone on set nuts. And they were screwed alright. But at least they had each other, and yes, they were indeed, talking.

I'm not really into second person povs and I usually skip fics written that way but that one worked for me. The one big question for me from that episode was where were Jared and Jensen? Now we know lol, and it made perfect sense, didn't it?

I'm so weary about crossovers. And for the record I did not like French Mistake and have been pretending it didn't exist. On the other hand, your recs are always gold. I'm so torn here. *facepalm*

Except for when GC made her appearance, I quite liked that episode. It could have been better of course but it was quite enjoyable and there wasn't much cringing involved for a change lol.

I got a big kick out of how much that episode screwed with our minds. There were so many intertwined layers of meta and fiction it was like a whole big knot of snakes swallowing their own tails. Case in point, I have no idea if the story you recommended is RPF or SPN, lol! I don't read RPF, but I could just choose to believe it's in the SPN world, right?

I actually thought the whole Jared married "Ruby" thing was cute and funny. I only cringed at "OMG! They stabbed Misha!" But when both Sam and Dean immediately demand "Where!?" at the same time and she's all "What?!" I was laughing again.

Have you read this (http://zoemathemata.livejournal.com/36807.html)? That would have screwed your mind, too, the interwining layer between RPF and SPN is totally mind-boggling, like a knot of snakes swallowing their own tails, like you aptly said :)

I was shocked when Misha was stabbed, too!

That does look totally mind-boggling, thanks I'll give it a read!

I was glad that in the fic you recommended, [spoilers for those who haven't read it yet] she did a reset at the end, so Misha hadn't been stabbed. It was a great fic, btw, it completed the episode perfectly and could totally be read as fictional characters in the SPN world, rather than RPF. I didn't feel my usual RPF squick at all.

Btw, have you read [livejournal.com profile] oselle's Thursday Night (http://oselle.livejournal.com/282858.html)? It's another of the same genre, not crossover mind you, and it's really lovely.

The part that got to me most was when Jared suddenly realizing the implication of Sam and Dean meeting Gen, and Jensen was like, "oh they would have asked first etc etc". Horror!
