layne67: (spn thinking)

The minute I saw the worm I was immediately reminded of The X-Files episode Ice. Anyone else thought that I wonder? And I was like, oh yessss, Sam and Dean were going to take their clothes off and examine each other!! Lol, didn't happen unfortunately :/

LOVE Sam's phone. Funny how little things like that made the old SamandDean affection come rushing back. Pity about Rufus though. I was just thinking that Rufus and Bobby together would have made a wonderful SPN spin-off. And I still hate what the writers did to Samuel. I loved his character when Dean first met him in In The Beginning, oh how could he not think of the boys as his Mary's sons?????

I love JDM!John and I've been wanting his character to come back like, forever ( Dean meeting JDM!John would be EPIC! ) but if the writers were going to mess up his character the way they did with so many already, then I rather that he not come back at all!

So much Sam&Dean love lately, without all the AAAANGST. It almost feels like Seasons 1 and 2!

My husband was VERY upset that they killed Rufus. He liked him a lot.

I was very upset, too. But with *that* title, I was totally expecting that. Aaargh!!!

Yes, it almost feels like early seasons SPN. Almost. Because I was thinking that S1&2 Sam and Dean would be even MORE frantic when they were locked apart, when they couldn't find Dean earlier. I missed Dean's "SAMMY!!!"

I must say, I LOVED that Sam threatened to kill Samuel if he killed Dean. After half a season of Sam not giving a crap about Dean, I'm loving this Sam very much.

It suggests a level of easy intimacy, when you sign your name with just the first letter of your first name, or when you call/refer to somebody in such a way. That's what it feels to me anyway, and it made me feel warm and fuzzy to see that "D".

I wonder who suggested that, the writers or Jared.:D

I really loved cranky old Rufus. He and Bobby would have made a great team, hunting alongside the boys. I think we'll all miss him.

The whole thing with Samuel. Didn't it feel like it wasn't thought out enough? It just felt wrong from the very beginning with the way he treated Dean and then tossing them to the wolves the way he did.

And you're right about John. The myth of John Winchester, the hero, was tarnished after they added the Adam storyline. Certainly, he was always flawed but he was still a hero to Sam and especially Dean. Even after IMTOD, he was still larger than life. I wish he would have remained that way.

Why oh why do they need to kill off all the good guys?????

They way they wrote Samuel was wrongwrongwrong. He loved his daughter! I don't think it right at all that he didn't, couldn't, think of his grandsons as Mary's if not his own, flesh and blood. Season 6!Samuel was NOT the Samuel that I knew of from season 4 :(

I did enjoy that episode nevertheless.

I take it that Mary's death changed Samuel, and nothing else mattered to him anymore, except getting her back.

I loved all the brother moments... when the sliding door separated them, Sam saving Dean from the trip wire, Sam threatening Samuel if he dared to harm Dean, Dean standing in front of Sam to prevent Sampa from talking about Sam's "summer vacation", etc, etc. And the "D"! :)

I'm afraid we'll never get JDM on the show again, he's too busy with other projects, but oh, I wish they'd bring him back again!

But grandpa Samuel died before Mary! He didn't go through the anguish of seeing Mary dying that fiery death on the ceiling, the way John did. Now if he did experience that, maaaybe I'd understand him trying to avenge her death, but still, it's not his grandkids fault that she died!

Was it said anywhere whether Samuel remembered the events in In The Beginning? I thought he had some rapport with Dean there, even if it was short-lived, and the YED was already in him when Dean revealed that he was his grandson.

He didn't go through the trauma of seeing Mary die, but it's more about the fact that she is dead, and Sampa couldn't bear living without her. So, it's not about avenging her death, so much as wanting her alive and with him again. Samuel made bringing Mary back his #1 priority, and Dean told Sampa that trying to do this through serving Crowley was wrong, that it wasn't the way. Dean's #1 priority was restoring Sam's soul, and Sampa resented that. So it's not Sam and Dean's fault that she died, as you point out, but Samuel doesn't think of the boys as his "family", and once they're not on his "side" about the way he wants to resurrect Mary, then he was willing to sell them out to Crowley.

I'm not sure if Samuel remembers the events in "The Beginning", but in Exile on Main St, he tells Dean "I'm your grandfather", so that makes it sound like he doesn't.

What I don't understand is why Samuel didn't care about bringing Deanna back.

why Samuel didn't care about bringing Deanna back.

Yup, that as well. Which is why I rather not have them bring back JDM!John back just so they could desecrate his character. Aargh.

Why do you think they'd desacrate John's character?

Because they have done so with so many characters, Samuel being one of them. Mind you, this is just my personal opinion. And I'm afraid they'd do it with John. But who knows, maybe they'd surprise me with a stellar come-back-from-the-dead John!

This would make me so happy!

With Samuel, he wasn't really friendly to Dean back in season 4, and he said that he didn't trust other hunters, so it didn't seem like a huge stretch for his character to behave the way he did in season 6, but, still, I was surprised that he'd feed his grandkids to Crowley. Maybe the writers wanted to explore the idea that just because someone is related by blood, doesn't mean that they're "family".

And Meg. And Crowley. And Ruby, too, for that matter, since I liked Ruby 1. Though I guess "desecrate" is the wrong choice of word, since they were demons and all. Lets just say I don't like how they turned up as compared to how they were in earlier seasons. And lately, I found myself getting irritated with Bobby too, and he used to be one of my favourite secoandary characters!

Btw, I still love SPN even though I might not sound like it, but yeah, it'd take something pretty drastic and of epic proprotions to make me go off SPN, and that, thankfully, hasn't happened yet.

I agree, the original Meg and Ruby were so much better. With Crowley, I don't see much difference, since he's always been a master manipulater, and he only helped the boys last season because it was in his own best interest. And I like Bobby, but I have some issues with him.

I'm glad you still love SPN. :)
