layne67: (dean cowboy)

Was it just my imagination or was Dean extra, extra, extra pretty in this episode? And young. He looked like a kid in a candy store!

I could feel the camera lovingly caressing every single inch of his face.

The shots of him in Frontierland reminds me of that scene in Phantom Traveller, the way the camera slowly panned up his body, with Sam standing transfixed by the door, mesmerized.

He was very, very, very, very pretty there! Oh, lips.

Sometimes I wonder what is in the writers' mind. :D

I was quite taken back ( honest! ) by his beauty in that episode. I thought he couldn't be any prettier than he already is and they gave us cowboy!Dean!! The camrea really does love him, doesn't it?

He acted like a kid in the candy store too. :)

I think it was the stubble....and the dress up.....and genetics. *grins*

I was left somewhat breathless, looking at him. I thought they had extremely good shots of him.

I do have one complaint though, we didn't get to see Dean ride :(((

But oh, that duel at the end, such an EPIC scene, they both looked so majestic!

I didn't think it was possible for Dean to get any hotter, but then cowboys proved me wrong.

I know right? I looked at him and I thought, Oh God, that man is really, really good-looking. Not that I didn't think so before, but IDK, he looked even more beautiful than he usually is.

The first thing that struck me about Dean in that episode was that he (or rather Jensen) was wearing *way* too much guyliner. I don't think I've ever really noticed it as much as I did in this episode. Every time there's a close-up of his eyes, it looks like his eyelids are lined, and it seemed so very out of place for the episode. I think that's why a lot of people were thinking he was particularly pretty, because his eyes certainly were. I wondered if it was a conscious decision on someone's part, or if no one involved in the show noticed?

(btw, thanks so much for the virtual flowers! Mwah!)

The thought of Jensen wearing eyeliner, either little or too much, made me go weak at the knees!! Maybe he had some clear mascara applied as well. After all, Dean did say he was a painted whore lol.

I'm thinking that it was probably the overall sepia tone of the episode that made the eyeline more noticeable?

And you're most welcome!!

I dunno, it just looked so obvious to me, I was cringing, thinking one of the characters would make fun of him for it, it was that noticeable. Maybe it's because he was filmed in the sun instead of a dark studio?

He did look good in the Western garb, even the serape!

Heyyyyyyyyyyyyy, I like Dean in all of them. But yeah, my heart beat a little bit faster than it usually did, because hot damn, those twinkling eyes, and that duel at the end just about slayed me.

:D

He was indeed extra stunningly beautiful. My theory on this is: This is actually how beautiful Jensen/Dean is, but he is usually in a lighting situation that does not show him to his best advantage: dark, shadowy. It draws out and emphasizes every nook and cranny. And he still looks great, because he is just that naturally gifted. But the western episode was in bright, natural light. I noticed there was kind of an appealing "yellowness" to the whole episode. I think that is a big part of why he looked so good; it softened any rough edges. Plus, the hat framed his face, making his features smaller. Ordinarily, his extremely short haircut de-emphasizes his prettiness somewhat. In some of the early episodes his hair was a lot longer and thicker, and you can see how it changes his face (It's amazing, actually, how much his face can change with a slight alteration of hairstyle).

He's perfection personified! The hat definitely suits him and oh, didn't he look like a boy with his hair all mussed up when he took it off? I'm thinking that the make-up people and the cameramen really, really love him as well. It's very easy to make a person look bad with the wrong lighting and the wrong angles!

*sighs besottedly*

Yes! Yes! A thousand times YES! He looked absolutely amazing... to the point where it was distracting. I mean, didn't you find yourself just staring?!

In the first half, I think it was that childlike quality we love so much. His face was more relaxed, he smiled more, and consequently, his eyes look bigger (I'm sure I'm not the only one that thinks Dean Winchester squints too much). In the second half, we just got that smolder... you know, that BAMF Dean we love so much.

Also (and this is probably not going to sound right) I think his short, masculine haircut also detracts from his pretty face. When his hair is longer, it softens his look and his features come out more (the cheekbones, the jawline, the lips, and of course, the eyes & long eyelashes). When he wears hats, it's almost the same thing because we're left with nothing but his pretty face.

Anyway, yeah... He was absolutely gorgeous and the camera does love him!

That heady combination of excited, sweet little boy and hotass, smouldering gunman, how on earth did he do it???? I think my mouth hanged open each time he came on screen lol. And this is probably me projecting myself but I thought Sam was somewhat taken with cowboy!Dean too!!!

It wasn't your imagination :)
Actually he looked so young because for the first time in a long time he was smiling like 50% of the ep. It's so rare these days *sigh*

A happy, excited Dean is a sight to behold indeed. Not that I don't like seeing him sick and injured and sad and angry ( he still manages to look good with all the bumps and bruises and dark circles under his eyes ) but a smiling, geniunely happy Dean is so, so lovely!!

"Was it just my imagination or was Dean extra, extra, extra pretty in this episode? And young."
Not just your imagination - I thought the same thing. The camera most certainly loved him in this episode! For that reason, I'm hoping we get director Guy Bee back again real soon. He sure knows how to bring out the pretty :)

When you mentioned Guy Bee in your post, I didn't know who he was! Had he directed SPN before? I know that I really look forward to an episode if I knew that Ben Edlund is directing, now I can look forward to Guy Bee's too!
