I didn't really dare hope that what Martin Freeman said about Benedict Cumberbatch being cast in The Hobbit might be true ( my, that line sounds rather uhm, cumbersome, doesn't it? ) but with what Ian McKellen said in his blog here, I'm starting to feel hopeful at last.

And what he said about Benedict's screen test really made me happy - It was electrifying, vocally and facially.

::SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEES::

Ahem. But of course.

Now I really must go reread The Hobbit, it's been years since I last read it, and try to guess which character he's going to play!

Unless he fails his screen test of course ( unlikely but it's possible that they might not find him suitable for whatever part they're planning for him ), in which case I'm going to be one very sad camper. Which is why I still dare not hope too much for him to be in that movie.

Glad you got it. Heheh, it was quite an experience, looking for the post-office. We walked around asking for directions and it was cold and very windy but I'm glad that we did that instead of asking the hotel people to post it for us. The post office is such a charming, quaint little place!

Yeah, I've read elsewhere too that Benedicts casting is confirmed. I hope Martin didn't get in trouble when he spilled the beans. Ooopsie! :)

I really don't remember the Hobbit very well. Apart from some scenes I am blank and I think I'm gonna keep it that way until I see it.

Lol I'm thinking he probably did it on purpose :D

I don't really mind reading the book before the movie. I like comparing them, see which parts they use and which parts they leave out, and which parts are made-up. And I really want to see if I could guess which part they're giving to him. I think ... maybe as the man which Bilbo met when he was a the place near where the dragon was. Ack, my memories of the book are really sketchy!

Ben and Marty back together ... oh what a lovely idea!

The shippers are ballistic with delight, I should imagine lol. Who knows, maybe Marty did put in a good word for Benny!

Has he actually got a part? Has it been announced or are we still just hoping?

Still hoping. But then, I'm still behind on my flist and haven't come ( yet ) to any squeeage about him being confirmed to be part of The Hobbit.

Btw, I just finished watching season 2 of The Tudors. I saw the finale last night and Arabia, wow, just wow. I googled up on Anne Boleyn after that, and what an intriguing character she was. A harlot and a whore one one camp, and a bright and forward-thinking girl on the other camp. What do you yourself think of her? I myself hated her earlier on but I grew to admire her fiestiness later on, albeit reluctantly.

We've just finished season 4 here, and it gets disappointing towards the end. But I thought the first ones were wonderful.

I'll admit I hated Anne at first but towards the end you had to be on her side. She was feisty and fought her corner the whole way.

It's all the more interesting if you've seen 'The Other Boleyn Girl' when you know about her sister. The whole situation is intriguing.

That movie is next on my To Watch List. Initialy because of Benny but now also because of the whole Boleyn/Henry drama. I actually haven't watched season 1 yet, for some reasons I went straight to season 2. Was Anne's sister featured in the first season? Because I don't think she had been mentioned much in S2.

The head-choppings are GRUESOME!!!

I cried, btw, when Anne was in the Tower Of London and she was told that her daughter had been declared a bastard. And her speech just before she was excecuted.

Darn, that was an excellent show.

I didn't see all of season 1 either, but got hooked towards the end. To be honest, I can't remember if they mentioned her sister much, but it is interesting to know.

I thought Anne was wonderful at the end, so strong, so dignified.

I saw The Other Boleyn Girl last night. It's interesting to see how different people interprete the same thing. I thought Eric Bana made a rather vapid Henry. JRM was so much more dramatic and fiery and "into-your-face". And I prefer Natalie Domer's Anne to Portman. In fact I prefer the whole mini series to the movie though I guess it's not fair to compare a 2-hour movie where they have to cram the whole thing to a 10-episode season where they could really flash out the characters. The only character that I like is Catherine of Aragorn. I think the movie version is so much better than the one in 'The Tudors' which I found rather irritating.

And it's interesting that there was hardly any mention of Mary Boleyn in 'The Tudors', it's like she didn't exist at all!

Btw, I'm a bit confused. Why was King Henry addressed as "Your Grace" and "My Lord" in the movie instead of "Your Majesty" all the time?

I wasn't that keen on Eric Bana either, he didn't have the gravitas or sheer nasty layer that JRM did. TO be honest - apart from the fact he didn't get fat - I think JRM made the best Henry ever.

I'm also not a big fan of Ms Portman. I know so many critics rave about her but, no, I'm not a fan.

As for why Henry was called that in the movie, I don't really know for sure. But could it be because it was American made and don't really bother about the details?

Ooh?! Really?

Awesome. Now I'm more eager for this movie (if that's possible) than before.

Yes indeed! Here's hoping that he will be in the movie. I just hope that Boyens and co is as electrified with him as Gandalf was!

I wonder what he meant by this though - The sleuths are the third double-act in The Hobbit.

Double act? Third double act? Any idea?

Obviously the third pair of actors who have worked with each other before but who the other two pair are... dunno?

One is Gandalf & Frodo I guess.

Well, if you count it that way then tons of these actors have worked together before on the previous LotR movies.

Those two are the only familiar names to me among those confirmed to be in the movie. I don't recognize any of the actors playing the dwarfs! Though I believe Peter Jackson had said something about Legolas ...

I've been googling around on this and there're some people who think that they might cast him as the Voice of Smaug the dragon!! While I think that'd be awesome, he has a magnificent voice, I still want him to be on screen!

Thank you, fellow Cumberbitch :)))

I'm trying to keep my squeeing to the minimust level as possible. I know, it's going to be harder to take if it came to nothing.

So, squeeeeeeeeeees

:D

You're familiar with Lord Of The Ring? The dwarfs accompanying Bilbo on his quest have all been cast ( not that I think Benny is going to be cast as one of course, unless there's a very tall dwarf around lol ).

If I remember correctly, there're two amazing men in the story and I'm hoping he'll be cast as one of them. I don't think there're any elf in the story but won't he be perfect as one?

You need to go read The Hobbit, esp if he got the part, whatever it is!
