[Error: unknown template qotd]"Last night I dreamt I went to Manderley again"

I have many, many books which I consider favourites but for some reason, that line from that particular book stuck with me. Maybe because I've seen it re-quoted many, many times. Ahh, it's my fondest wish that someday I'd be able to write something that begins with that line.

I was 12 ( think ) when I read that book, and you know, I actually thought that the second Mrs de Winter's name was actually Daphne du Maurier lol.

I don't recognize the line. What book is it?

It's Rebecca (http://www.dumaurier.org/reviews-rebecca.html), written by Daphne du Maurier. There's a movie of the same title, directed by Alfred Hitchcock. A gothic, classic tale!

I just checked my collection of classic Hitchcock movies, and it's not there, but I'm sure I can find it somewhere. Sounds good!

I think it's difficult to have such a memorable line like that book. :)

It is so very Rebecca!! I think I've seen at least 2 fanfics than began with that line and so of course I had to read those!

Have you seen the movie? I'm looking for it as I haven't seen it yet!

Monkey has a very lovely name :)

No, I haven't! But it's one of those things in which I'm not sure I want to see it. The book was so haunting in my imagination; I don't know if I want those images replaced.

Good point. If anyone can do it well, he can!

If they were to do a remake, whom would you like to be the director? I'm thinking maybe ... Shymalan or Alfonso Cuarón, maybe.

Spielberg can do spooky/haunting, as well.

ETA: Or Peter Jackson! Ha.
